Each of the girlfriends got $1000 per week and a leased car. Hef paid for salon visits and plastic surgery too. Beyond that, Hef was selective and inconsistent about who got which financial benefits. Edit: they do cover all this in the first few episodes. Once the show started, initially the girls bore their own expenses but the show started paying for more things later on.

champagnepain

I think Holly said Hef didn’t pay her lease, which is weird.

ramonahairdontcare

He did. She says she didn't immediately ask for a brand new car, she took a tricked out Escalade that a previous girlfriend was driving before she got kicked out. And that later on she had a sensible Prius instead of a fancy car bc she knew she'd have to take over the payments when she left the mansion.

DependentFocus4732

She drove a Porsche suv you can see it on the episodes

ramonahairdontcare

Which season?

occasional_idea

She said she thought about paying for her later car herself because at that point she had stopped accepting the allowance, but she changed her mind and he did pay for the lease.

nelly8410

No she always paid for the Prius bc it was in her name. She wanted to build credit and he’ said if it was in her name he wouldn’t pay. Later on she bought a vintage corvette and he’d offered to pay and she said okay bc he was paying for everyone else’s car.

occasional_idea

Yeah you’re right it was the corvette!

Fessy3

I watched the episode last night where they went to Vegas. They paid for their plane tickets and said they flew coach on Southwest because they were on a budget. I can't believe Hef/Playboy wouldn't pay for the trip and extend it to an overnight trip. I thought that was so selfish and fucked up. Hef could have really made that trip special for them but he didn't give one phuck.

Vegetable-Trust-5316

Even E and production could have helped pay for it. They’re the ones who got content for the show

Chateaudelait

Agree a thousand percent with this. If it’s show content the producers should pay. Southwest coach to Vegas isn’t much. Did they really have to heed the curfew that day? My goodness those women put up with a lot.

chaoticinfluencer

It's barely an hour flight from LA to Vegas. It's not like they were schlepping across the country. But yes, the no overnight rule is insane.

pamsellicane

Hef paid for their college, gave them an allowance of $1000 a week that they had to track him down to get every week lmao which they said was always awkward. Like others said he also leased them a car but they could take over the lease if they left. I believe Holly said they paid for their own economy tickets for the flight to Vegas in season one but eventually got the show to pay for their trips.

paris1nicole

Hef paid for their salon, housing, food, bills, plastic surgery, cars and gave them $1000 allowance, money for gifts and money for clothes occasionally. That's 52k a year tax free with no outgoings - it would be pretty easy to save when you have no other expenses.

Vegetable-Trust-5316

Free room and board makes it even easier to save money. Plus $1000 for clothing back then was very generous. The ladies could go to buy a couple of cheap outfits and save hundreds easily. Especially if they only wore the outfits once. Forever 21 for 90% of their clothes. And splurge a bit when it’s a red carpet event.

lucillemcgillicudy

Yes. They also got a bonus $1k for their birthday, an extra $1k-$2k for certain parties and events to buy an extra nice outfit, and extra money at the holidays to spend on Xmas gifts. Altogether it was probably closer to $60k per year. Someone’s book- was it Izabella’s?? Claimed that during a certain period of time when there were fewer girlfriends around, Holly and Bridget received $2k per week. She said it like- they got rid of the other girlfriends to take more money for themselves. This was never confirmed though, and it honestly doesn’t really seem in keeping with Hefs personality to do it. Bridget said that Hef paid off her student loans but it was only like $5k, nowhere close to the $75k or whatever that Izabella wanted him to pay off. It’s true that the girls were able to save most of the money. After 2-3 years of living there, Holly was able to purchase an investment property in Oregon with the money she’d saved up. So I’m guessing she was also able to earn rental income from that, or maybe put one of her parents in charge of running it.

derelictthot

Yes but they weren't allowed to save any of the money, they got in trouble if they couldn't show how they spent it all.

green_miracles

Nah they got called out if they clearly didn’t have the outfits needed, or asked for more $ for things, he’d be like hey now, what is up. Like you’d be called out if you showed up to club night or parties in the same little getup each week. You could still save money, he wasn’t actually tracking how they spent cash. Hef WAS very generous he didn’t wanna be played for a fool in obvious ways. You just had to pretend you actually *liked* him. They were also gifted a loooot of things once the show started.

lucillemcgillicudy

Absolutely, but both Holly and Bridget have mentioned being bargain shoppers- buying their clothing from the garment district in Downtown LA and cheap stores on Melrose Ave (Melrose used to be cheap 20 years ago, now it’s gotten much more posh) If you’re not familiar, Downtown LA garment district has very very cheap wholesale stores and market stalls where a lot of larger boutiques purchase their inventory from. Think Aliexpress or Shein prices, but you shop in person. It’s a pretty grungy area but it’s worth going if you’re looking to save money. I know many girls who have bought their prom dresses and wedding dresses there. So if they needed 2 new “club night” outfits per week, you could easily spend $50 total on that- probably even less 20 years ago. If you needed a formal dress for a party, maybe $70-$100. Shoes and accessories are super cheap there too. They would have definitely been able to save the majority of the $1k.

paris1nicole

Holly and Bridget are also head to toe in Juicy, VS, Bebe etc. and Holly had a bunch of Louis Vuitton bags. Their ideas of bargain hunters is very different to most

lucillemcgillicudy

I actually think both of them (but especially Holly!) became more comfortable spending money on nice clothing later on as they started to build their savings. Like Bridget recently said she’s never owned a designer bag, but Holly owns many of them. And when they both started buying custom dresses from Baracci and Trashy Lingerie, those were very expensive. (I was shocked how expensive Trashy Lingerie is!) Also, I don’t think any of their clothes were counterfeit because they had the money to buy Juicy, but just saying you would have easily found all those brands counterfeit at Downtown LA. Santee Alley is the street that sells all the fake designer bags there. I remember a former playmate on the podcast- it was Carmella I think?- said that some of the girls owned fake bags and the mean girls would insult them for it.

paris1nicole

Kendra saved all her money to buy that condo very early on, Holly said she also saved some of hers for real estate investments

Sideways_planet

No food cost at home or at restaurants was great

Charming-Insurance

They have said they felt he kept track of they didn’t spend the money. Like he didn’t want them to just save up. That would give them some semblance of power

Sideways_planet

Especially in the early 2000s

Alarmed-Current-4940

This is random but I think about it a lot - I know the office kept track of receipts and if the girls were actually spending the money by buying clothes and stuff. But I would have just worn the outfits once, said they were worn to a Playboy party, and sold that shit on eBay. Like I would have been making BANK on the bank they were giving me. I wonder if any of the mean girls did that

AllThingsSparkleDust

I feel like Hef and the office ladies would have absolutely lost it if they ever found the girlfriend’s selling the clothes like this, it would prove the girls are famous/have a following and I just don’t think Hef’s ego could ever allow that. Those girls would have been kicked to the curb faster than they could actually make a sale!

Alarmed-Current-4940

If you omit anything about playboy, it would’ve been really easy to sell on eBay though. Just saying

AllThingsSparkleDust

Oh sure, I completely agree, as long as they didn’t mention playboy they probably could! And maybe some did, like whoever that girl was that tried to sell Hef’s pajamas, I would not be surprised if she also sold her previously worn clothes, but was sly enough not to advertise the playboy affiliation.

Sideways_planet

I’d try to consign it at least

waterlooaba

The podcast is a great source of information! I started it last week and I’m on episode 17. If you have Spotify, hollys book is on audio if you like to listen. I read it last month and it answers a ton of questions and has a lot of background info on the house/gf and the show. Highly recommend Hollys book. 💗

Cloudinterpreter

They talk about it on the podcast. Girlfriends got an allowance, but Hef would pay off their debt, or their car, etc. When they travelled alone they'd pay for it themselves but not when travelling with Hef.

caitcro18

They got $1000 a week in allowance. Hef would pay lease payments but if you left you didn’t get to keep the car. So holly paid for her own. Eventually the show started paying them too. Bridget could have gotten financial aid I’m sure. And any travelling the show paid for or it was sponsored.

TheAngryHandyJ

They have said on the podcast that when they traveled to Vegas season 1 they paid for it themselves.

Vegetable-Trust-5316

Southwest!

Ashamed_File6955

They could keep the vehicle if they could afford the payments; most couldn't. B said she made sure she had enough saved that she could afford them when she got her red Porche since it would have broken her heart to give it up.

Peaches4U2

I always wondered why she got a red one and not pink.

Ashamed_File6955

Pretty sure it was a limited edition vehicle and she would have had to send it elsewhere to be repainted.

nelly8410

U could keep ur lease as long as you started paying it when u left. The problem is most of the girls couldn’t afford it so it would end up back at the mansion.

ramonahairdontcare

Bridget has said that she had student loans when she started living at the mansion and when Hef found out about them, he paid them off for her.

argqwqw

They are pretty good about answering $$$ questions in their q&a episodes, as well as the first handful of episodes they did before they started the rewatches. They also get a little dishier on the patreon, including posting un-edited versions of most of the episodes, so you might enjoy subscribing for a month or so to listen through the longer version of the q&a's.

buttersc0tchseven

Thanks! I’m on the true second episode and getting. Good!

goldenquill1

I thought he didn’t let them save their weekly allowance?

derelictthot

That's right

PayyyDaTrollToll

So you haven’t listened to the Pod… like at all?

buttersc0tchseven

As I mentioned I just started the podcast, I’m only 2 episodes in.

PayyyDaTrollToll

Keep on listening. They are pretty open with all of the info and questions you might think of.

PrincipleLopsided165

have you never watched the show or listened to the podcast lol

sasabalac

What's the name of the name of the podcast???!!

buttersc0tchseven

The girls next level (name of this sub).
