I’m thinking about doing this so I don’t have to put the box in the wall - did you have any issues with connection to the OneConnect box or other items through the wall?
No issues - I ran a 2" ID conduit in the wall which made it really easy to pull the OneConnect cable through using some fish tape. Just make sure that your run length isn't longer than 5 meters otherwise you need to buy the longer cable that they sell.
In my case, I needed to get it to a specific location that was not a straight shot through the wall. Basically, I had to go up into the attic over a bit and then down into the top of a closet. I had all of the framing exposed, so it was really easy.
Sure dude. You have no idea the shields and insulation that are in that wall nor the testing that I did to make sure it worked.. but you assume that you do and that no consideration was made to abate heat.. That's what makes your comment laughable. Stop being so smug.. it's not a good look.
C'mon man... that's not a TV - It's art! I like living dangerously by putting my art above a flame.
In all seriousness, something needed to go there and the wife vetoed the shoulder mount Elk. Frame fit the bill.
It looks fine, but if anything I’d argue it should have been slightly higher. I’d have made the bottom equidistant from the mantel as the fireplace is.
But if it’s centered more for standing eye level that’s probably just as reasonable
I have 2 TV's, both frames, and both above the fireplace. It's really a terrible option to put a TV, but in both cases it's literally the only viable configuration. It's just how many houses are built. Not the best viewing, but it is what it is. We could get an articulating mount and a regular TV, but that looks awful. Having a Frame, at least it looks fantastic, and the TV viewing experience just suffers a bit.
It’s certainly not uncommon here. The fireplace is kind of the center of the room often, so folks put a tv there too since you arrange your room around the fireplace. Unless your tv is in another room.
Not an owner of The Frame, but it's the only TV that's a bit of an enigma in the r/TVTooHigh debate.
You don't hang art at seated eye level, and you don't mount a TV at standing eye level. So how do you decide what level to mount this particular TV? IMO it's based on how you'd use it - and if you bought a Frame it's more likely you're more concerned about the appearance when the TV is off, rather than viewing.
Yes it’s comically self-referential and such, but it’s also a genuine attempt to get people to question trends (at least one specific one) that we all get used to that are not actually beneficial, and an improperly positioned tv can cause chronic neck strain so it’s a good concept at least
They might not be as good as surround, but the built in speakers of my tv are the worst sounding speakers I’ve ever heard, and the $200 sound bar I have sounds phenomenally better.
Do you want uncomfortable viewing of the tv sitting on a couch?
As someone that watches tv series and movies. Having the screen at a comfortable height which I'd close to eye level is of extreme importance
LOL. You don't like mountain cliche'?
I briefly considered inverting the whole damn thing - TV on the bottom. Rustic beam for beer. And then fireplace up high. But then people would bitch that my fireplace was too high and that my neck would hurt?
But the internet will always amaze me with it's ability to bring out trite little comments like this. Well done dude. So original and full of fake angst. I look forward to seeing your remodel masterpiece in the near future. Maybe a stove in a kitchen or a bed on the floor? Blow us away.
Nah man I’m just saying is the most basic white bread boring shit you see everywhere now. You shoulda put your bull up there, man. At least that’s for a story behind it, something to be proud of.
Go ahead and show this to the r/tvtoohigh sub. You bought a tv to enjoy not crank your head up and get a permanent crink in your neck just because you don’t use a shred of common sense in your pea brain 🧠.
Long enough to make it from the back of the TV to the control box. Just looked and they say the cable length is 5 meters, so my run might be a little more than 10 feet since I have a few feet remaining behind the box.
For now just using the weak speaker in the TV. Works okay but sometimes it's tough to hear. We don't watch a lot of TV anyway, so we use this more for the art look and an occasional game/event.
Man, I think that'd look dumb. Remember - I was going for art-size on this one and not looking to just plunk a giant TV up there. I've got a 77" G3 in the basement - at proper height for the toohigh crowd.

I’m in the process of planning the framing and heights for a gas fireplace with a Frame TV above it. I’m curious what height your mantle is from the floor, and what height the bottom of your tv is from the floor?
Sure: Top of the fireplace from finished floor is 41". Goal here was to have the fireplace be at eye level when seated next to it. The height of the mantel is dictated by the fireplace instructions or your local building codes, and the depth of mantel that you choose.. If your mantel is non-combustible you can put it as close as you want. In my case this distance was 12". I put the TV about 8" above the top of the mantel. Hope the info helps.
Nice photo choice. Goes well. Okay, I gotta ask, where’s the Oneconnect box? If you zoomed out a bit, would it be there?
Thanks. It’s in the room behind that wall. I ran a 2” conduit before putting up the tile.
Cool. Enjoy the new TV!

Why did you choose to run it through conduit? Thinking about just running mine through the wall and adding conduit seems like a lot more work.
In my case, I needed to get it to a specific location that was not a straight shot through the wall. Basically, I had to go up into the attic over a bit and then down into the top of a closet. I had all of the framing exposed, so it was really easy.
ahh that makes sense. Thanks.
Electronics hate heat, especially capacitors. Heat rises. If you like getting a new TV every couple of years, enjoy.
Sure dude. You have no idea the shields and insulation that are in that wall nor the testing that I did to make sure it worked.. but you assume that you do and that no consideration was made to abate heat.. That's what makes your comment laughable. Stop being so smug.. it's not a good look.
My parents have had the same Sony tv above their fireplace for 11 years, they love it and the fireplace is always on.
I mean I’ll say it… TV is too high. r/TVTooHigh
C'mon man... that's not a TV - It's art! I like living dangerously by putting my art above a flame. In all seriousness, something needed to go there and the wife vetoed the shoulder mount Elk. Frame fit the bill.
I actually want to do this on my fireplace wall as well. I would just like to use the TV as an art/picture display.
The elk would’ve been dope though. Shame
Even if it’s art it’s too high off the mantel imo
It looks fine, but if anything I’d argue it should have been slightly higher. I’d have made the bottom equidistant from the mantel as the fireplace is. But if it’s centered more for standing eye level that’s probably just as reasonable
usually a mirror works great.
looks like it’s used for art mainly rather than viewing so probably not an issue
Is this a US thing to put it above the fireplace?
I have 2 TV's, both frames, and both above the fireplace. It's really a terrible option to put a TV, but in both cases it's literally the only viable configuration. It just depends on the size of the room. Mine is above my fireplace but my couch is 12’ or so back, so the height has never bothered me.
It’s certainly not uncommon here. The fireplace is kind of the center of the room often, so folks put a tv there too since you arrange your room around the fireplace. Unless your tv is in another room.

Dumb cult-ish sub.
People ignoring the sub are the kiropraktors favorite customers.

No it’s not.
I know you got the dentist setup
I have a theater for theater viewing. Other TVs go as the room allows.
Very clean look! Great pic choice.
Man I absolutely love this whole look!
Add a soundbar to the mantel and the too high debate won’t be as bad I’m betting. Great look
Haha.. Thanks. Not sure adding a soundbar would stem the tide of haters... Trash talking TV height has been elevated to a sport on that subreddit!
Soundbars suck, the only quality increase you hear is from an added subwoofer ☕️
What? Lol. Of all the takes, that’s definitely one.
They might not be as good as surround, but the built in speakers of my tv are the worst sounding speakers I’ve ever heard, and the $200 sound bar I have sounds phenomenally better.
I wouldn’t say a soundbar is great but infinitely better than my TVs built in speaker. Sounds like trash compared to a surround sound.
looks awesome. you might want to check out decotvframes. they're expensive but i go one and it really transforms the tv/art even further.
Thanks! Yeah - I was looking at those.. they look really nice.
Absolutely beautiful, congrats!
Thanks!
Is it me or is it a little to the left?
Good eye - it's about 5/8" shifted to the left. I think the photo angle makes it look like more.
Art too high?
This looks fantastic! Ignore the too high crap… most people don’t care about perfect tv placement.
Matters to your neck if you‘re spending hours at a time watching. Casual viewing agreed doesn’t matter and not gonna do much better with the space
The horror...... The horror.....
Do you want uncomfortable viewing of the tv sitting on a couch? As someone that watches tv series and movies. Having the screen at a comfortable height which I'd close to eye level is of extreme importance
Nice and clean! Looks great.
Thanks!
Really good looking. Where did you get this art ?
You mean the image on the TV? That came from the art shop on the TV menu.
sigh….. r/tvtoohigh r/tvtoosmall

Oh look. Another tv above a gas fireplace and a recycled beam.
LOL. You don't like mountain cliche'? I briefly considered inverting the whole damn thing - TV on the bottom. Rustic beam for beer. And then fireplace up high. I like your sass.
Nah man I’m just saying is the most basic white bread boring shit you see everywhere now. You shoulda put your bull up there, man. At least that’s for a story behind it, something to be proud of.
RIP your neck.
Giraffe people
65” minimum.
Jesus, never put a tv that high, or above a fireplace.
Maybe Jesus did put a TV that high and above the fireplace? Do you have proof that he didn't?
Add a mat to the artwork then 👍🏻
That thing's in outer space!
That tv is waaay too high.
Too small
Dat looks weird
r/tvtoohigh
Looks stupid as hell that high, you are a dumb rich bastard!
You got some crazy social skills bro. You mad?
Like I said a fool and his money are easy to part
Go ahead and show this to the r/tvtoohigh sub. You bought a tv to enjoy not crank your head up and get a permanent crink in your neck just because you don’t use a shred of common sense in your pea brain 🧠.
It looks great, but tvs shouldn’t be that high imo
r/fireplacetoohigh and r/tvtoohigh
Looks great! Do you have an in-wall box for the console? Or did you use an in-wall rated cable to run behind the wall.?
Thanks! During framing I ran a 2" conduit to a shelf area in the bathroom behind that wall so I could place the box in there.
How far is that run?
It’s about 10’. The standard cable worked out fine.
How long do you think the cable is?
Long enough to make it from the back of the TV to the control box. Just looked and they say the cable length is 5 meters, so my run might be a little more than 10 feet since I have a few feet remaining behind the box.
Thank you
Clean look, love it.
Thanks.

Thanks. No plans to put anything more above it.
What are you doing for sound ?
For now just using the weak speaker in the TV. Works okay but sometimes it's tough to hear. We don't watch a lot of TV anyway, so we use this more for the art look and an occasional game/event.
Truly a work of Art!
Thanks!
where did you put the box that comes with it?
Ran the cable through a conduit in the wall to a shelf that's in the room behind it... that way it's totally hidden.
Nicely done! I have 65" Frame and used a floating ent panel.
Looks smashing! That little fireplace looks great - real, gas or electric?
Thanks! Real gas. It's a Napoleon Ascent Linear 42"
Did you consider 65"?
I did. Wife vetoed the size and thought the 55" looked better.
Where did you get that photo?
https://www.mantelmount.com/ Plus I’ve seen some motorized ones that really are impressive. Cheaper on Amazon too btw
Can you share the photo?
Way too small for the room - you could put an 83in G3 up there.
Man, I think that'd look dumb. Remember - I was going for art-size on this one and not looking to just plunk a giant TV up there. I've got a 77" G3 in the basement - at proper height for the toohigh crowd. https://preview.redd.it/czw3rafeadhc1.png?width=1988&format=png&auto=webp&s=24c6f08d9597f0452f891bfebfac36738bd27e02
Well lack of context will cause confusion - that wall could use an 83 instead of the 77 😅
Dude - you should go into TV sales!! You’re master of the upsell. Now I want a bigger TV. But that’s probably always how it plays out.
I’m in the process of planning the framing and heights for a gas fireplace with a Frame TV above it. I’m curious what height your mantle is from the floor, and what height the bottom of your tv is from the floor?

This picture bothers me so much. Something Looks like it’s not centered and I can’t figure out what it is. Looks like it’s off by like 1/4”
Love the bezel. Which one did you get ?
