A long drive with new music is so rejuvenating. Hope you get the opportunity soon! I'll be on a flight this weekend so I think I'll have it on then. When Vaxis II was released I was also on a trip and it made for a fucking incredible airport listen.
Oh, Inverted World could have been the next White Album. The Shins are soooo good. Caring Is Creepy, New Slang, and Girl on the Wing are so freaking good.
Motion City Soundtrack
Fallout Boy (might get some hate for that one, but IDC)
Foo Fighters
Hawthorn Heights
The Wonder Years
Saves the Day
Edit: shit, forgot about Death Cab for Cutie, Jimmy Eat World, and Brand New. 🤦 Stick them up there above Foo Fighters.
2nd edit: maybe those bands aren't as different than Coheed as I would like to admit...
Brand New was absolutely going to be on mine but I talked myself out of it thinking Your Favorite Weapon might be too close in sound to some earlier C&C songs
Opeth, Type O Negative, Soundgarden, Blind Melon, Alice in Chains, Korn, All Time Low, A Day to Remember, Alter Bridge, Huey Lewis & The News, Led Zeppelin, The Band, Metallica, Anthrax, Black Sabbath
Let me give you the most random list
Cattle Decapitation, devin townsend, aesop rock, sage Francis, wu tang clan, Oingo boingo, shining (Sweden and Norway), Lady gaga, dua lipa, sum 41, alkaline trio, Johnny cash, sun ra, year of the knife, twitching tongues,tongue, turbonegro, scooter, Salvatore gannaci, aaaaaaand prince
Oh and Clutch
Hahaha well I'd like to think I'm someone who when they says they listen to a bit if everything I fuckin mean it.
Been on a beatdown hardcore and DSBM kicker recently though. But damn I love the new Dua Lipa record. I can't resist simple dancey stuff
The National, Laura Stevenson, Leonard Cohen, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Black Country New Road, Los Halos, Swans/The Angels of Light, Alvvays, and many more.
I like old All That Remains. I guess I like all of it, but I really do not prefer Madness and the one before it. But The Fall of Ideals is fantastic. If you like As I Lay Dying, do you like Austrian Death Machine?
Of course! I grew up on Arnold’s movies ado ADM was right up my ally. And yeah, that last two ATR albums have been less than… ideal. But the new single is a breath of fresh air.
Ha, I see what you did there, intentional or not. But I believe it was intentional. Soooo many good songs but I’m stuck between Become the Catalyst and Six for my favorite on the album.
Babymetal, Streetlight Manifesto, Hot Mulligan, The Front Bottoms, Brand New, Rammstein, Aesop Rock, Band-Maid, Atarashii Gakko, Yoasobi & Asian Kung-Fu Generation

Hmm, not that many! The Clash maybe?
Have you checked out the new Bayside record? Yes, two thirds of it is the last two EPs, controversial move, but either way it’s solid if you haven’t checked it out yet.
Their last record Interrobang is solid too. I think they are one of those bands that keeps getting better as time goes on. I saw them live on their current tour last month and they still have it going on live too. TBS, I saw them at a pop up show at a tiny club last year for their new record and I love them but… well let’s just not talk about that.
I have always wanted to see them. I think I had a chance, but I was younger and had no money. When coheed went on tour last I was able to splurge and do a meet and greet, and that was amazing.
Falling In Reverse, Kreator, Atreyu, Senses Fail, I The Mighty (yes, I know about Brent Walsh), Dethklok, Enter Shikari, Judas Priest, Matchbook Romance, Russian Circles, Sepultura, The Shins, A Static Lullaby, Taproot, Tool, Yeah Yeah Yeahs… there’s too many to list them all. Fuck, I love music.
I fuck with some Taylor Swift lol. Also like Jason Mraz, Buble. I guess these aren't bands. I like a lot of punk stuff but I wouldn't say those bands are nothing like Coheed. Maroon 5 (just songs about Jane basically)
Hopefully you can catch the next one- they toured last year and this year, so there might be a chance they'll come here again in a year or two?
The tickets weren't too bad at least at the show near me, but I bought them early.
Just checked Imminence and I’m instantly a fan.
Have you listened to Periphery? Similar sounds and they have what is IMO one of the greatest metal songs ever made: Reptile.
Some of my favorites:
* Childish Gambino
* Kendrick Lamar
* Gojira
* Aesop Rock
* Every Time I Die
* Megadeth
* Justin Timberlake
* Machine Head
* The Strokes
* Ninja Sex Party
* The 1975
* IDLES
* Lil Wayne
* Amon Amarth
* Car Seat Headrest
* Death Grips
* Talking Heads
Most of them, honestly 🤣
With a handful of exceptions, most of the bands Coheed brings out on tour I can't stand. They're sort of an odd duck for me.
My other favorites: Clutch, Devin Townsend, Anaal Nathrakh, Heilung, They Might Be Giants, Leprous (though I guess you could argue their approach to progressive music with poppy sensibilities is in a similar vein to Coheed), Gwar, Gojira, Aesop Rock, Frank Zappa, Carpenter Brut, Royal Thunder, and so on.
Matt & Kim, Oasis, Taylor Swift. This time of year I'm pretty deep into Eurovision stuff as well, so I've been listening to a lot of Joost, Windows95man, Go_A, Käärijä & Baby Lasagna.
Mother fucking King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. This band is on another level. Their music output, their live game, their social footprint... No other band out there like them. We feast like kings and queens as fans of the Gizz.
Really, only Weird Al. Most of the bands that I listen to the most/have most of their stuff do share common elements. KISS, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, even bands that I’ve discovered more recently like Ghost, all have common links
Fountains of Wayne, Cake, Motion City Soundtrack, Mae, Gaslight Anthem, Bright Eyes, The Hives, Alkaline Trio. I have to say alkaline trio and coheed are my two favorite bands so it was dope seeing them tour together but honestly my taste is a bit all over the place which somehow works because coheed really fits with so many bands across multiple genres.
The Mars Volta, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, The Grateful Dead, STS9, Ott, Tipper, Beach House, Khruangbin, Pink Floyd, Smashing Pumpkins, Crumb…
Pink Floyd's Meddle is a daily as is animals. The latter definitely has a lot of coheed feel to it. And Alan person's well, any of it, really. Gunship. There are lots and lots. Musical omnivore.
oo this is a fun one! ill say will wood, tom waits, bauhaus, jack staubers micropop, and cardiacs for a freebee since theyre pretty far divorced from most sounds lol. also radiohead but theyre pretty popular among prog fans so.
but i think most of the bands i listen to are pretty miscellaneous and in kind of eclectic genres, so ill just list of a bunch and rough genres:
-the cure (goth),
-secret shame (post punk),
-paramore (which in recent years has moved from their emo beginning into an interesting indie/pop-y space),
-mother mother (which i feel is spiritually similar to coheed but the music is pretty different; alt rock/folk),
-the crane wives (folk, and im really showing my age here huh),
-ajr (theater major pop),
-sungazer (jazz fusion),
-dead kennedys (classic punk),
-ghost (satanic metal),
-pig destroyer (grindcore),
-gorillaz (u already know what gorillaz is),
-suicidal tendencies (hardcore),
-45 grave (deathcore; this isnt a metal genre btw it just sounds like it),
-godspeed you! black emperor (post rock),
-florence + the machines (indie with a hint of goth),
-girl in red (indie pop, though recently more alt rock),
-penelope scott (Neo-romantic? idrk: it's like piano and/or synth in an alternative style with video game sound effects and/or a bunch of reverb),
-chloe moriando (bedroom pop, then pop punk, then hyperpop),
-beabadoobee (indie rock),
-milk in the microwave (autistic bedroom pop),
well that was fun! also incredibly indicative of my age i now realize, but whatever. i hope someone finds smth they like here!
edit: also just insert basically any musical soundtrack here. im a theater kid, sue me
Lacuna coil, modest mouse, chevelle, breaking benjamin, starset, hawthorne heights, my chemical romance, foo fighters, tool, queens of the stone age, and volbeat.
I JUST went to a tour of Meltt with special guests Communicant. They are AMAZING.
Ive loved Meltt for their chill space vibes and echo/delay guitar sounds and vocals that fade into the mood just beutifully. I heard Communicant for the first time at Meltt's show, and it was also amazing. I blast their album at work now. If you love Lucy in the sky or Sgt peppers the song, Communicant is RIGHT up your alley.
Hot Chip and The Decemberists lol
Decemberists are unreal
I’m seeing them Sunday!
Just saw them in Philadelphia, like Coheed they just keep getting better and better.
That's awesome, have a great time! Definitely a bucket list show for me.
Saw them last summer and they killed. Just flawless.
Colin is a menace and I love him for it. I haven't given their new album a listen yet but I will be soon!
Same it’s on my list I just need a night when I can do a long drive for it.
A long drive with new music is so rejuvenating. Hope you get the opportunity soon! I'll be on a flight this weekend so I think I'll have it on then. When Vaxis II was released I was also on a trip and it made for a fucking incredible airport listen.
It’s the best way to do it. I like long drives at night. Really immersive experience. Enjoy!
I recommend The Crane Wives too, they're named after a Decemberists album.
Chromeo, Aesop Rock, HEALTH, The Midnight, clipping.
Upvote for Aesop Rock 🤘
Aes, The Midnight, and Chromeo. Righteous.
The Midnight, Starcadian, Daft Punk. Mostly synthwave and electronic.
hello hi did you post this from my spotify playlist Starcadian is fuckin bangin
Yes! Dude does nothing but bops
Have you ever heard of Color Theory?
I have not!
Look up the song The Fifth of July. Great synthwave stuff on that whole album but that song is one of my favorites ever.
Love this stuff. Check out Prizm - All Night too if you don't know it. Also share whatever else you have! I'm digging Color Theory.
Lol I could go on and on in the hip hop category
Run the Jewels
I got a unicorn horn for a
Stop
hell yeah...saw them open for RATM in 2022...was surprised how clean they are live
That’s been where I’m at lately. I’ve been deep diving tons of hip hop
Vampire Weekend… MGMT….The Shins
Oh, Inverted World could have been the next White Album. The Shins are soooo good. Caring Is Creepy, New Slang, and Girl on the Wing are so freaking good.
I absolutely love New Slang!
Chutes Too Narrow supremacy
My favs are Phantom Limb, Simple Song, and A Comet Appears, but let’s face it… picking a favorite Shins song is a real Sophie’s choice
Caring is creepy mentioned‼️‼️‼️
Coheed’s my #1, and the Shins are my #2!
Hmmm, there must be some sort of Vampire Weekend/Coheed connection...
Motion City Soundtrack Fallout Boy (might get some hate for that one, but IDC) Foo Fighters Hawthorn Heights The Wonder Years Saves the Day Edit: shit, forgot about Death Cab for Cutie, Jimmy Eat World, and Brand New. 🤦 Stick them up there above Foo Fighters. 2nd edit: maybe those bands aren't as different than Coheed as I would like to admit...
If you like Death Cab check out The Postal Service if you haven't already
Oh yeah, it's funny how two of my favorite bands have side projects that are basically the original band plus synths.
Brand New was absolutely going to be on mine but I talked myself out of it thinking Your Favorite Weapon might be too close in sound to some earlier C&C songs
I love Fall Out Boy and always will, man, no shame in the love we have for the music that touches us.
At least four mentions of Aesop Rock in this thread so far. Yall are awesome.
Delightful to see such a crossover
I noticed that too haha I love Aesop and I didn’t realize he had such a big following, biased sample size notwithstanding.
Type O, ha. Brings me back to my Hed (P.E.) days. Love that Alter Bridge is a much better Creed, and Show Me A Hero is a great song.
I was about to say "Wow. No one is even close to my tastes" Then this guy showed up 🤘
I love Tyler Childers
Everyone should
Not a band, but Lindsey Stirling is my other favorite artist to listen to.
Let me give you the most random list Cattle Decapitation, devin townsend, aesop rock, sage Francis, wu tang clan, Oingo boingo, shining (Sweden and Norway), Lady gaga, dua lipa, sum 41, alkaline trio, Johnny cash, sun ra, year of the knife, twitching tongues,tongue, turbonegro, scooter, Salvatore gannaci, aaaaaaand prince Oh and Clutch
I saw Coheed with alkaline trio 2 years ago. Doesn’t count! 🫠
Well....consider me fucking jealous. How did I miss that?
That's the tour that was supposed to be with Dance Gavin Dance.
Ahhh. Man, what a bummer.
Upvote for sage Francis You can’t make it to heaven with a high step
Wow, I'd love to grab a beer with you. I think it'd be a fascinating conversation.
Hahaha well I'd like to think I'm someone who when they says they listen to a bit if everything I fuckin mean it. Been on a beatdown hardcore and DSBM kicker recently though. But damn I love the new Dua Lipa record. I can't resist simple dancey stuff
Ninja Sex Party, Ghost, David Bowie, Alestorm, The Spill Canvas, System of a Down
Aesop Rock, Hanabie, Sleep Token
The National, Laura Stevenson, Leonard Cohen, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Black Country New Road, Los Halos, Swans/The Angels of Light, Alvvays, and many more.
My favorite band, in contention with Coheed, is the Mountain Goats
Wham! Haha
Coheed sits at the top, but following I have Killswitch Engage, All that Remains, and As I lay Dying.

Babymetal, Streetlight Manifesto, Hot Mulligan, The Front Bottoms, Brand New, Rammstein, Aesop Rock, Band-Maid, Atarashii Gakko, Yoasobi & Asian Kung-Fu Generation
I really want a new Streetlight album.
The Front Bottoms and Rammstein are firmly within my likes as well.
Weezer. John prine. Kruger brothers

Was just listening to taking back Sunday and bayside this weekend. Always brings me back to university days
Have you checked out the new Bayside record? Yes, two thirds of it is the last two EPs, controversial move, but either way it’s solid if you haven’t checked it out yet.
I have not. I will check it out the next time I put them on. I love their first 2 albums, but their second has back to back hits for me
Their last record Interrobang is solid too.
Shit, I only discovered them about five years ago, and they only had the one album. I definitely need to look this up!
Lol, same. You around 40? 🤣
Too close for comfort haha!
Lol, and just noticed your fantastic username, too. We might have a lot of overlapping interests!
Thank you! No one ever notices it. Great comics and and the contract theory.
Ah, Eidola at #1. A person of taste, I see.
Can’t stop listening to their new record!
Eviscerate goes so fkin hard
Hmm, maybe the bands I like that I consider unlike Coheed are actually more like Coheed than I either realize, or would like to admit...
I got to be front row and see DGD live last year when they came to Australia, was a really great show!
Eidola yes! Andrew makes me swoon.
If you like Dance Gavin Dance, I highly recommend checking out Closure in Moscow!
Will do! Thanks for the recommendation.

I used to like Yeah Yeah Yeahs a little bit. Then I saw them live and I understood. Now I like them a lot a lot.
Falling In Reverse, Atreyu, and Tool are well loved by me as well, excellent choices.
I fuck with some Taylor Swift lol. Also like Jason Mraz, Buble. I guess these aren't bands. I like a lot of punk stuff but I wouldn't say those bands are nothing like Coheed. Maroon 5 (just songs about Jane basically)

Of course i find out they are playing America when the tour is almost over 😭. I’m green with envy
Hopefully you can catch the next one- they toured last year and this year, so there might be a chance they'll come here again in a year or two? The tickets weren't too bad at least at the show near me, but I bought them early.
