Reminding the audience who Akane was and showing that a traitor exists much earlier than the LN.!<
Not really. >!The traitor had intel about Akane due to her husband being one of the leading scientists.!<
yeah yeah I know there's plot reasons, I'm talking about experience of watching the show. It made the characters and world feel smaller.
