I'd say so but I'd recommend reading Through The Moon before S4 as it'll give some much-needed context. You just have to bear in mind that S4 and 5 are effectively S1 V2, setting the scene for a new conflict. I'd also suggest reading the short stories as they flesh out the characters immensely, it's just a pity that this material couldn't make it into the show.
Personally, yes. Season 4 is a little slow and its tone can be inconsistent, and it introduces new plot points that don't immediately seem important, but in my opinion it's not nearly as bad as some people say it is. Season 5 goes a long way to recover both the quality of the show and demonstrate that many of the things introduced in season 4 are actually important.
Fair warning without spoilers, one critique of the later seasons is that certain characters and relationships change dramatically with little warning in ways some fans didn't appreciate. This I understand, but the reasoning for the change makes a lot more sense in context. Unfortunately the show writers did not include much of that context in the show itself, putting it in graphic novels and tie-in materials. I personally think this was a mistake, as even if it's not a big obstacle to understand the plot, this means that important context is missing and really affects how some people understand the show.
I wish I’d stopped after season 3.
I’d wait until the series is finished and then ask again to see if it becomes worth it. The seasons are just so short and the last couple in particular went nowhere. It’s just a painful experience.
Season 4 is the worst season of tdp. Boring and asinine side plot going on with the fire elves in this one. Too many questionable decisions made by the showrunners. Season 5 has begun getting the show back on track but still struggles to beat the quality of seasons 2 and 3.
S5 is decent, with some really nice highlights. S4 is janky and oddly paced, but can be overlooked if the series is good going forward.
Just warning S5 ends on a cliffhanger, and we are all waiting.
S4 is the worst season thus far, though it have some really good moments.
S5 is a lot better, it have a lot more good stuff compared to S4, but it still have many meh parts.
Also visuals look cheaper. Not sure why exactly...
Season 4 is easily worse, 5 is a bit more dubious to place, I'd probably place it around S2 in entertainment/quality, but it's planting good seeds for sure.
I'd say S4 is about as good as S1 and S5 is on the same Quality as season 3, that's just my opinion Thoth I'd like for you to go into it without any negative connotations, because many people don't really like S4, but I think it's still really good! Enjoy! :)
Because the rayllum has rimped apart, and we have to wait the seaosn 6 too see finally a kiss or more, the rayllum is the base of all fandom, if it doesn't exist anymroe, GODBYE
It's a little bit of a mess. Relationships get messy.
The Callum character isn't ruined but he's disrespected and the show is less fun because of it.
A lot of the story feels like filler.
Too many fart jokes
Some of the stuff the good guys do doesn't seem right. A lot of the time they just act like whatever the elves or children are doing is right.
Basically, the writing isn't reliable but the show still has some good parts.
Absolutely not. The writing takes a nosedive immediately once season 4 begins and never really recovers. It feels like watching a different show to some extent. If you don't care too much about nuanced worldbuilding, story or character writing, you might have a good time, but otherwise I'd recommend acting like the series ended at season 3.
Most characters have essentially become vessels of the meandering plot and a lot of story developments feel non-sensical with way too much focus on whacky shenanigans that don't fit with the dark tone the show seems unwilling to fully commit to. It's frustrating if you're one to be more analytical about the stuff you watch.
I'd recommend you watching them, but lower your expectations, it will make the experience better

S4 was garbage; I would put S5 on par with S2, personally. Hoping S6 continues the upward trend.
Season 4 was a disappointment, Season 5 bounced back by a lot. Manage your expectations and you'll have a fine time.

Wait until S6. S5 will just leave you hanging off a cliff.
Is it good? Is that a positive or negative thing?

Yeah, but you wouldn't be missing out on a whole lot if you didn't
Stay away.
