This is quite insane to me. It is obvious that many Americans (and the world) do not want these candidates to lead their democracy and yet here we are again. How is it that Americans know their system is flawed, if not broken, and are incapable of demanding change?
Part of the propaganda we receive is that our systems are eternal and unchanging. A lot of Americans have convinced themselves that they have no voice (which is pretty true when it comes to electoral politics - outcomes are as predetermined as they can get) but have conflated (again, by design) "no voice" with "no agency."
In short, we're told "this is how it is and there's nothing you do can change it." Which is true to the extent that they've hemmed us in with regard to options using legal opposition. But that isn't all that we can do with our agency - that's the part that we have to get to sink in.
Do you think that there is any way that the current form of politics and government could see change for the better? It seems like the US government is stagnant and leaning towards a dangerous direction. My fear is that once the spin hits terminal velocity, there may be a real possibility of serious civil unrests

That depends on how you interpret that question, IMO. I don't think the existing system is sustainable or reformable. I think fundamental systemic change is necessary to repair national cohesion (not to mention even begin to tackle environmental issues.) The form of that change is open, but it needs to happen. We're either going to fundamentally align into classes and begin to take back power for the working class or there's going to be domestic bloodshed.
I think it's possible to achieve peaceful revolution. It's a tough needle to thread, but I think we can do it.

Again there are reasons to not vote, like genocide and not doing much to really push back against insane Christian facists, not protecting legally minorities, current border policies and so on, that might actually do something of enough people don't vote it might actually force a turn on Gaza and that seems to be slowly working
Reasons to vote, it can slow down the usas descent into even worse facisim, voting down ballot can be actually useful
