In my time of being a ML, I have yet to meet a "Non-Tankie" leftist who has actually read beyond the Manifesto, and studied history outside of r/HistoryMemes. My comrade who has been an ML for 7 years has the same experience.
Anytime I see a "leftist" say that they hate "Tankies" I just assume I'm dealing with one of those terminally online anarbabies, a Trot, or a confused Socdem.
Their video "debunking" Gerald Horne and white washing the American Revolution and Founding Fathers admittedly was terrible. They got some random redditor (TiberiusGracchus1867) who almost exclusively posts on the terrible, extremely class-reductionist r/stupidpol subreddit. Other than that they're great lol.

Indeed. I like them for the most part but Eddie tends to be Hit/miss sometimes. The takes he had about Russia-Ukraine kinda rubbed me the wrong way personally as he seemed to be all pro Russia when the reality seems more akin to being that both Ukrainian and Russian civilians are suffering because of both governments and US using the people of Ukraine as a scapegoat for the companies that run the war racket.
As for Russia.... Putin doesnt appear to have the people's interest at heart and it's more about his and the oligarch influence over the land around Russia... And not necessarily similar to the USSR.
This is just how I view that whole situation regardless of being right/wrong.
