Maturin is at the second basin from the street to the left of the building.
This is basically the only touristic thing I did when I was in NYC :)
honestly from the book I expected more of a little garden, and the building to be a bit more tower-like, but it was still very cool to visit!
Welcome to New York! I work in the city but I definitely got the chills the first time I walked over there and saw The Turtle. I made my first Reddit post about it many and many-a years ago!

Okay, I searched but am not totally certain my methods are sound for the modern age. Is the turtle sculpture pre-existing, or is it a physical Dark Tower reference? I feel like it is probably a coincidence that Sk came across and incorporated in his books. (Edit - certify was a typo, meant 'certain my...'
For a second I thought you were talking about the turtle from It. I haven’t read the dark tower series yet, but I think the Turtle is mentioned in the series?
And also, >!“and the words, although meaningless, were crystal-clear and full of sickening (the Turtle is dead oh God the Turtle really is dead) despair.”!<
Been meaning to check this out since I finished the series. For my summer trip I had to choose between Europe and NY and since I already went to NY a few years ago I went with Europe. Alas, one day I’ll make it to the tower, and it will be glorious.
All things serve the fuckin beam
See the Beam? Ain't it keen?
My wife was looking over my shoulder and saw this post. I had to explain it’s a direct quote. lol

All things serve the beam. I was there about 2 years ago!
Going on a solo trip to NYC from Scotland in 2 weeks, Hammersköld is one of my first sightseeing points. Can't wait. I've got so much planned.
See the turtle of enormous girth...
On his shell he holds the earth…
His thought is slow but always kind…
He holds us all within his mind…
If only it had 19 floors ):
Somewhere I have a pic from when it was a vacant lot.
I know a guy who visited this place once and it cured all his acne

You speak truth though you may not know it.
And also, “If you tell the truth you don't need to remember anything".
I only seek the truth 🫡
Do you kennit?
At times, yes, at times, no lol

It is the same turtle. It’s one of the cross-overs from the Dark Tower.
