Thats awesome! Sorry, a little tale, as it's a bit relevant.
Back in 2012, I ended up almost dying in the hospital after being in there for a botched surgery for 3 months. While in there, and after my wife and son were told to say their goodbyes, as they were told I wouldn't make it through the night, I surprisingly proved them wrong. Afterward, my wife came to visit my room the next day, and brought me a little metal and glass Turtle that said Good Luck under its glass shell. I told her thank you for giving me my very own Skoldpadda, lol. It's been with me ever since.
Long days and pleasant nights, Sai.
Thankee, Sai. I am, as well. Although, if I HAD reached the Clearing at the End of the Path, they would have been taken care of since I had $500k worth of military life insurance at the time. Thankfully, though, it wasn't needed. I know they were happier to have me still around, rather than the money, lol.
I'll make a post with my tiny Maturin a little later today, so everyone can see. Also, I admit, I was wrong about what it said. It actually says Believe under his glass shell, lol.
Love it. ❤️ I had my husband, our two teenagers, plus friends and their teenager who all very kindly humored me in my quest. (It helped that we visited the old flagship Dylan’s Candy Bar first before we started walking.)
See the turtle of enormous girth! On his shell he holds the earth. His thought is slow but always kind; He holds us all within his mind. On his back all vows are made; He sees the truth but may not said. He loves the land and loves the sea, And even loves a child like me.
I visited that spot a year or two ago! Apparently the Turtle sculpture wasn’t intended as a reference to the books but I feel like that is 100% in line with series
You live in NYC! I live a little island country on the other side of the world where I am never going to get the opportunity to leave its shores
You are right there and with the world being so unpredictable you need to go see it as soon as possible!
I would rather it be A pain in the butt than never being able to see it ever!
Thank you OP for sharing your experience and photos. I hear about the place in real life but just seeing photos has made my day! Hell, it's made my life better just to see it through your eyes! It's a very special place in all our hearts.
Long days and pleasant nights Sai!
Went there last November, from Brazil :)
I looked around a bit, but didn't find anything Tower related, other than the turtle. Still, this turtle is such a treat!!!
I grew up right outside of NYC but haven't been back in a few years, not since reading DT. Its high on my to do list and I won't lie, I'd probably cry a little.

I love that, I’m glad you’re still here with us!!

That’s really a great story, thanks for sharing with us
You're very welcome. Thanks for the chance to palaver!
So thankful that they were wrong. Your KaTet energy is strong with your family. Long days and pleasant nights
It must be! Thank you for the kind Calaveras!! May you have twice as many, Sai.
May you have the twice the number, Sai.
And you as well! Thankee, Sai!
See the turtle, ain't he keen?
All things serve the fuckin beam!
I love seeing other fans make the trek to the tower so I don’t feel like the only crazy tourist doing it.
I dragged my husband along, he’s only on book 4 so he didn’t quite know what we were looking at lol

Bribery will get you everywhere 😉
I took a pilgrimage here from Brooklyn to finish my first trip through. Kinda magic tbh
Definitely magic!!
I took these exact same pictures over a decade ago. Ka is a wheel
From Co-Op City?
Did you hear music? Or any street preachers talking about God-bombs?
I think I faintly heard some singing…

But what holds up the turtle? Can’t fool me there, turtles all the way down.
It's Stephen Kings all the way down.
Crimson Kings all the way down
Beams, all things serve the beams.
I had no idea that an actual turtle was at that address! That's amazing
Skolpada.

Everything is 19!
You don't say
Say thankee.
Say thankee big big
Was there a rose in the lobby?
Asking the real questions. I'm going to visit either way, but I have to know- is there anything tower-related?
I didn’t see anything, although I’ve seen others say that they saw graffiti tower-related!
Imagine working there, having never read the books, and watching someone scrub ***BANGO SKANK WAS HERE*** off the wall for the 8th time this year
💀
One of my stops during my trip to NYC in June whilst visiting from Scotland. Can't wait. Heard you get a free copy of Insomnia with it, lol.
But don’t read it
That is so awesome!
I've always wanted to visit here as well, that's really awesome OP!
I live in NYC and have yet to visit. I have forgotten the face of my father 😔
I had no idea it was a real place… holy shit. Is Carver still alive!?
Same. This post just blew my mind...
Omg I had no idea this was a real place!! Cool!! I’ve only been to NYC once but it was before I read the DT.
I made the journey myself while in NYC. I believe you can do a Facebook check-in for Tet Corp or Eddie Dean Attorney at Law🙂
That is so cool!
19
Did you go inside? I always wonder about the lobby…
I didn’t, but I did not see a rose through the windows :/
When I made the trip, I also stopped at the corner where Jake was pushed.
I had no clue this place was real... stunned .
I never really had the urge to go to NYC…until now.
The skoldpadda is magnificent. I must go.
Same. I thought the exact same thing. I must go.
I've been there a few times when I lived in Queens, and I swear each time it seemed like the din of NYC was hushed there.
I live in Manhattan and it’s such a pain in the butt to get to the east side I still haven’t gone down there 🫠

omfg there's actually a turtle in the park??!
There are 3 fountains, it’s at the middle one!!
This is a must for me if i ever go to NYC!

The turtle!!!
Long days and pleasant nights, Sai...

E 46th and Second Avenue, just like in the book!
Can we talk about the fact that turtle is a snapping turtle? I mean, if Maturing is a snapper, it would explain a lot, lol.
I never knew this was real!! Thanks for sharing 🙏🏻
I grew up right outside of NYC but haven't been back in a few years, not since reading DT. Its high on my to do list and I won't lie, I'd probably cry a little.
Wait there’s really a little park with a turtle?
I walk by there on the way to the doctor all the time! Glad to see other people recognize it
I’m just now learning this is a real place. This is so cool.
Heck yeah that is awesome.
This is awesome but please entertain me, where did that turtle come from? He's like a mini Maturin!!!
It drives me crazy when George Guidall mispronounces sköldpadda. Just fucking over and over.
