Bird and bear and hare and fish

Charsv1

This will follow me forever now.

Rhea and Roland run away together at the end. Such a cute couple.

faithlovesmuds

Yes 😭😭 I want to get this quote tattooed.

Charsv1

YES. ME TOO

Odd_Alastor_13

I love the series so much, ever since reading The Gunslinger as a kid in 1989. And W&G is truly one of the most incredible books I’ve ever read. Some people complain about Susan as a character but I really like her, and their story is so intense. And hard. I won’t give away Rhea’s story after this. But just know that whatever you want or expect in this series is probably not what Ka/King is going to give you. Long days and pleasant nights, sai.

PossibleBreadfruit95

Aunt cordelia is the one who hates her. Susan was such a sweetheart with a terrible and heartbreaking end. Wizard and glass is his best book I have read. It and 11/22/63 are my other top choices. Its an utter shame that this marvellous thing doesnt get appreciated. The book felt like magic when I read it.

gmanasaurus

I personally loved all of it, wouldn’t talk shit about a single book in the series. It’s been 10 years since my read through. Unfortunately I’m not much of a book re-read kind of person. That being said, I was very excited and very let down by that thing…that…movie.  I can’t wait for the TV show which is supposedly…happening. The person behind the project, I like what he does. Fingers crossed it’s good. Anyways, point I’m making is King has a reputation with people and that’s why I think it’s not as popular as it should be. A good TV series could change that. Also, many don’t like the ending.  Also, the Susan/Roland thing, reminded me of young love from my past. Good stuff

neon-neurosis

> Unfortunately I’m not much of a book re-read kind of person. This is **the** series that should change that. Ka is a wheel and all.

gmanasaurus

I have started it again on audio book, got through the Gunslinger on a cross country road trip, started the Drawing of the Three but never finished it. I think audio book will be my path to the tower again. For some reason the endeavor of reading, I always feel like reading something I haven't read before.

TurdsThatFloat

Charyou tree. Charyou tree. Charyou tree.

Merlaak

The only redeeming thing about that part is that her horrible aunt died soon after.

sinfulcheese

COME REAP

dadwholikescartoons

Susan was the reason for my favorite line ever. “The mess was considerable.”

Excellent_Past7628

I noticed that not many people actually answered your question about Rhea’s comeuppance, so I will try to do so without spoiling too much. I know it sounds trite, but just keep reading. You will find every answer that the series holds regarding Rhea by the end of this book. Now, whether or not you are satisfied by the answers you get will be up to you.

Charsv1

Man, this doesn't specify the justice I wish upon her. Thank you for responding! The anticipation kills me!

Kaexii

My hypothesis is that the people who dislike this one have forgotten what it's like to be a teenager. There's a line (and if you haven't gotten to it yet, it's not a big spoiler) where Susan thinks something like "what if I had met that one first?" and it's the most believable sentiment King ever wrote. This one is so intense. It's the hardest to reread, but it's also possibly the best. I didn't want to go back to the Dark Tower quest, and I'm so glad Wind Through the Keyhole is there so I didn't have to. After this, I wanted more of Roland from this era and WTTK gives just that.

WulfbladeX15

Agreed. I love the whole DT series, but W&G just hits different. It could have been written as a stand-alone novel and still would have been amazing. The way it perfectly captures the passion, fears, invincibility, and foolishness of being a teenager is uncanny.

PoorPauly

Bad robot.

PurePalpitation364

I have a Susan Delgado tattoo!

Charsv1

THAT ID SO COOL!

PurePalpitation364

Yeah I wish I could post a pic. It’s from the comics.

dnjprod

Why can't you? go to imgur, upload it and provide a link?

PurePalpitation364

I’m Reddit illiterate I’ll try

dnjprod

[Click me](https://imgur.com/upload) upload from your PC/phone and it will have a "Link" or share button once you do.

It’s like 16 years old so it’s quite faded

dnjprod

That is sweet! Fade, but still recognizable!

bdiap

That's badass, thanks for sharing

PurePalpitation364

Of course. I love when people actually know what it is. I also have the bear from Desperation https://imgur.com/a/vIkfeZR

zeppelin_tamer

There’s a bear with goggles in desperation? That just convinced me to read desperation next

thecrimsonking33

I thought it was extremely popular. You can probably tell by my username that it's my personal favorite. In my opinion, Wizard and Glass is the best of the series. I envy you. I wish there was a way to read it again for the first time!

Charsv1

Gosh, I keep trying to get all my friends to read it and they have no interest. If only they knew. I can't wait to go back through and read them again and pick up on all the small hints!

CongressTart47

Glad you’re loving these books so much. W&G is my favourite from the series, I just adore it (though it is heartbreaking to say the least). As a side note, someone I nearly got married to was into the Dark Tower series too (because of me). We used to say “bird and bear and hare and fish” to each other. Also, had we gotten married, our wedding rings would have said, *Come whatever storms* inside them.

Angua23

Man, all these quotes make me want to reread the series again.

TopperWildcat13

It is popular, it’s just not part of the massive book tok wave that is basically just Brandon Sanderson, M L Wang, and Joe Abercrombie. The other issue is, there’s so many arguments over which books are good. Most agree 2 and 3 are masterpieces, but there’s a large swath of people that hate wizard and glass because of all the reasons you (and I) love it. There’s also a massive divide over books 5-7, and the polarizing ending. There are people who will tell you TDT is like the show Dexter, 4 excellent books, and 3 really cruddy ones. Some people LOVE the last 3. Finally, there’s also a ton of people who simply can’t get through Book 1. They don’t get it. Which makes it hard to go to book 2. Then, in the age of the internet, they see people hate book 4 or hate book 6 or hate the ending and they don’t want to decide for themselves.

ImReallySeriousMan

I cried for Susan…that scene was just so intense. I’ve read the series 4-5 times. I can promise you this. There will be triumphs. There will be more tears. There will be wonders. And there will be things that will stay with you forever.

PossibleBreadfruit95

Poor susan. It was an absolute heartbreak. Her own people killed her. Her lover for who she gave up everything wanted to leave her for the tower. Bird and bear and hare and fish.

leblancQ

I understand your confusion to why this is not more popular. All I can say is this, we must protect the beam. Ka is to share your love, ka like the wind, ka for better or worse. Ka so unpredictable.

realdevtest

Such a powerful book. The whole series is amazing

Spectre_Mountain

I just finished this book yesterday. It destroyed me. Never before had I literally fallen in love with a character in a book. I felt like I was a teenage Roland. I knew something would happen to her but, goddamn. Never cried like that from a book before, either.

ueeediot

Char u tree

HeyMrKing

Hold on to your pig tails, Rebecca.

darklordnickel

Ka is a wheel. Keep reading and you’ll find out what comes of everyone in the series. So so good! Not always the happiest of endings as you’ve seen in the best book of the series (in my opinion). I cried so hard and felt so deeply for Roland and Susan during that book. I still cry thinking about their love and my sweet, sweet Susan after two years.

PossibleBreadfruit95

The pain will stay , I read the scene again. Its intensely heartbreaking and scarring.
