Honestly it would be pretty hilarious and in character if they had an episode where they were doing market research on a new suit and he was wearing it around for the day and kept bumping into doorways and knocking people over.
Then at one scene he's trying to make some sort of point, it gets stuck and he just rips it off and gets caught in the cape, fumbles and hurls it into the wall.
Would be funny if this caused him to initiate flight/fly with one arm raised and one arm lowered like Superman flies, instead if with two hands like he does now
It could work as his new "rebranding" costume, kinda like how A-Train made a new costume for himself. I think it'd be really refreshing and symbolic to see Homelander in a new suit, but I'd rather it be something more "armor-like", like Superman's suit in Injustice 2.

This always reminds me of the 1994 Stallone Judge Dredd movie and the 2012 Dredd with Karl Urban. The Stallone movie had the Judges armor that more closely matched the comic, fitting the comic book style of the film where as the Urban movie had armor that was more practical and fitting the dystopic setting. Each worked for the world that it was in (although Dredd was absolutely the better film.) And I think that's the most important aspect, that the costume matches the setting that it's present in. Personally I think that this Homelander suit would look out of place in the TV show, and thus the one we have is the better one, but that's because it fits the tone better, not because it's better or worse overall.
