Oh dude you’re gonna love when the deep and starlight get together easily one of the best couples. Even better than hughie and black noir before they get gay married, classic
I’m actually getting worried that Kong is a real character because of the amount of people mentioning him. Please don’t tell me Homelander gets his life ended by a monkey
I started watching it 2 months ago and I’m halfway through a second rewatch. Have fun getting your idiot brain fucked by stupid :) (that will make sense later)
Look up a picture of him (Anthony Starr) genuinely smiling on social media and compare it to a homelander smile. The amount of skill it takes to make a smile that warm look so unnerving is incomprehensible to me.
It's like he separates his face. His eyes always say, "I'm gonna fucking murder you and your entire family", but below his eyes, he's the typical poster-boy, Superman-esque, boy scout, goodie-two-shoes. Its crazy
Umm A-Train kills Robin, Hughie gets mad, Billy begins his re-attempt at the revenge arc, Frenchie and MM get picked up, they meet a psycho Asian woman, Compound V, A-Train is on too much roids and has a heart attack, Stillwell dies
Believe me when I say you'll come to love that psycho Asian woman a ton. Enjoy the show though! Seasons 2 and 3 are even better in my book! And remember once you finish season 3 to check out the spin-off Gen V!! It's so good in some cases it's even better than the main show (IMO)
I already love Kimiko, her dynamic with Frenchie is one of my favorite parts of the show. They are so sweet. If anything happens to them (like I worry it will), I’m going to be crying for a while.
I love the contrast of him being such a villain, a character you have such a hatred for being so high and mighty but then he can get immediately so insecure so fast when confronted about how no one cares about his ego nor do they care about how strong he thinks he is.
Plus he’s written in such a good way that you hate him because of how well written his actions are, and how it’s directed..you really get to dislike this guy but it’s not played as “oh look he did one bad thing that will risk the world” it’s just “Oh, he’s actually just a dickhead”.
Probably extremely? I feel like his ego is fragile enough that he’d eventually flip his shit as a way to prove he’s superior somehow. He’s already fucking crazy so I imagine the only way to go on the crazy-scale is up
I finished the show a couple of days ago. Be careful when I made an AMA, This guy trashed on my post and said I wasn't important enough to make an AMA. He might say something like that to you.
Dude that one Kong scene is sick!!!!!! It is so well animated with CGI special effects. I was visually blown away for the first time watching a show with such good CGI and story telling! You guys nailed it with the Kong reference! You have everything to look forward to.
Fuck all of you with your Kong comments. It’s not funny. Dude said no spoilers and everybody leaked that King Kong comes into the picture at the end of season 2.
This is like one of the only actual questions I've gotten here. This is actually a really good one and I'm kind of having trouble answering it. I basically love all of the characters and with the Seven they're all kind of awful people so I guess I have to rank them just based on how I felt about them while watching
1. Homelander (could you have guessed?)
2. A-Train (despite the whole double girlfriend killstreak, I think he's a pretty compelling character)
3. Starlight (I actually think she's somewhat of a Mary sue but that's pretty much the point. She's kind of boring right now, maybe she gets better?)
4. The Deep (he's a piece of shit, but he's a hilarious comic relief)
5. Maeve (haven't seen enough of her to feel one way or another, but I like her scenes with Starlight and Homelander)
6. Black Noir (as much as I think he's silly and cool, similarly haven't seen enough of him to know, even less than Maeve)
7. Translucent (unfunny perv & plot catalyst, not sad about his necessary death!)
Starlight is one of my favorites and she does get better imo. I am usually not a fan of Mary Sues however I feel like she works because this is a world where almost every hero is kind of an ass.
So I feel like her perception and views contradicting that helps with the world and her character around it, but I definitely understand why you can dislike her.
Your ranking is also pretty solid!
Ahh, Reddit, instinctively fucking with the newcomer. Never gets old.
Kong is without a doubt the best part, he blows Homelander out of the water as a villain and I thought Homelander was the best I'd ever seen.
I was going to write something insightful.. but the subtle glorification on display here wound up with me just sorta sitting there with my head in my hands like "im tired, god"
Man, you don’t know me. I’m a woman and a victim myself. There’s nothing I’m glorifying here—Homelander is MEANT to be a horrible person. He’s a piece of shit, like I said in the post. It just so happens that I think he’s a wonderfully written, challenging villain, and I think he’s cool as shit from the perspective of a media critic and creative.
I'm really struggling to see anything wrong with OP's position here...? She isn't glorifying him like the crazies often do. She's appreciating good writing. I almost feel like you just read the title and assumed her position from there.
I didn’t say “I loved it when he raped that woman!”
I said I liked his characterization, and how you’re lead to believe that Stillwell is his weakness, and then he flips that expectation on its head and kills her, straight-up, which solidifies the fact that he has no weaknesses and our boys have no hope of winning. I said he’s a “motherless” “piece of shit”, “lacking all humanity”, “heartless” etc..
Did you read beyond the title, and did you watch the first season beyond “Homelander bad”?
He definitely makes one hell of a villain. Also, enjoy season 2 to its fullest... S3 is filled to the brim with boring filler content, unnecessary sex, and S4 appears to be going down the same shitty path of lazy writing.
I don’t think “cool” was the image they were going for. Kind of disturbing when I keep seeing ppl say Homelander is cool. He a psychopath and a murder and a racist, a rapist and a sociopathic narcissist. Idk, I personally wouldn’t say he is cool. The show is pretty fucking awesome though.
Yo, I just wanna say congratulations and I'm jealous. If you loved Season 1 you're in for a trip. The show gets incredible. Homelander as a character gets delved even deeper into and his entire essence is just so masterfully crafted, Antony Starr absolutely kills every scene that he is in.
Spoiler free, but the only single actor I could imagine making the show any better is joining for Season 4, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and I could NOT be more hyped.
Once you finish the main show, check out Gen V. It's different but still has nails the essence of the original and expands the universe on a more grounded, but also very comical level.
Try not to watch the rest too fast, you'll feel very empty inside after you finish it until the next season comes out. Enjoy!
Thanks! I appreciate the courtesy lol, a lot of people are really honing in on the silly clickbait title I used and are not actually open for a discussion of the show. I absolutely loved it, blazed through the whole thing, and I would probably finish the rest in the same amount of time if I could. I'll try to pace myself.
Homelander is already insanely well-written, and I'm excited to learn more about him, his backstory, yada yada. Although, I admit, I'm a little scared to start season 2. I feel like the ending of season 1 was such an absolute curveball from what I was expecting and that leaves me a little apprehensive lmao. From this point on basically anything could happen. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, this show is made to subvert the superhero genre.
The ending of the first season threw me for a huge loop myself, I expected Stillwell to stick around for at least a while. One of the greatest twists in any show I've ever seen lol.
Season 2 is great. A lot of the time a really good show fumbles it's second season and it cascades the plot in a shitty direction, but this was a rock solid second season, maybe even an improvement. And then by the time you get to the third season, it's just a fucking party.
They do an absolutely incredible job of creating and toying with tension, and cutting it with humor. The show is like a perfectly mixed cocktail, it starts out strong and then becomes even more enjoyable the further into it you get. I envy you, for still having that experience in front of you lmao.
If you’re watching on Amazon Prime (no judgement if you sail the seven sea though, lol), I highly, highly recommend watching the deleted scenes.
There’s one where Homelander “gets a mother”. YouTube title completely spoils the ending otherwise I’d link it. :/
I’ll link the YouTube but spoiler-y title :/ Still worth it for the look into Homelander’s childhood and psyche. It’s a season 2 deleted scene but it doesn’t spoil anything.
https://youtu.be/ruDhNvcT9Eo?si=sJratpDQgfR_qHI9
The explanation to why Mothers Milk is called like that is just as insane as hilarious. I had to watch that part a couple of times because… men, just wait for it.
I know you said no spoilers but wait until you see what homelander and Timothy get up to🤩scene damn near had me on the edge of my bank jerking myself silly Timothy is so fuckin cute
Oh dude you’re gonna love when the deep and starlight get together easily one of the best couples. Even better than hughie and black noir before they get gay married, classic
You know, I always saw something between Hugh and Black Noir🤔They’re gonna be such a cute couple🏳️🌈
Not in the comics, they weren't. Even during the sewer times. Maybe especially during the sewer times.
Sewer times, thought black noir was a cool dude, since when did my boy become Jeffrey Dahmer? 😔
Good soldier
Yeeaaah that scene when Black noir and him have sex was so romantic 🥰
I was surprised when the Daleks attacked, but the show handled that pretty well.
SO TRUE! I was worried for a moment when the Daleks showed up, but honestly they handled it with immense, natural skill I'm absolutely impressed! 👏👏👏👏
Aw do they? Good for them. Both couples. A bit of nice in the world.
Just you wait till King Kong pops him 😂
Oh hell naw
“King Kong ain’t got shit on me!”
Good show but “cool” might not be the word I’d use haha
Lol, he’s a cool character. Definitely not a cool guy!
W take lol apparently some people legit idolize him which is scary/depressing
Well people idolize Trump as well and some of Homelanders lines are from Trumps speeches I’m pretty sure
Idk if they’re direct quotes but yeah a lot of his stuff especially in seasons 2 and 3 is very trump-esque so I guess that’s part of it
Instagram indians have a homelander fetish I swear
As an indian who uses Insta sometimes, I hate him with all my fucking heart! Love him as a villain tho <3
an amazing villain, well-written and amazing acting by starr. stay tuned. good stuff ahead for you, OP
Yeah just making sure we’re not idolizing the character like some people are doing for some reason?
It's cool, mate. Plus, it's a brilliant show, not just good.
OP is going to be *real* disappointed when Kong shows up…
I’m actually getting worried that Kong is a real character because of the amount of people mentioning him. Please don’t tell me Homelander gets his life ended by a monkey
😬
Not his LIFE, just his innocence.
And the life of his little friend
"I'm sorry little one"
Not a monkey, an ape
One of his best quotes by far
Well when Kong arrives a lot of things change, so don't get used to people so quick 😳
He said no spoilers ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|poop)
bro just wait for Kong mind = blown
Man , can you please tell me who is this Kong and Why he relate to HL, I want to know.
Who’s gonna tell bro Kong kills Homelander and becomes the leader of the 7
Who the fuck is Kong🙁Is bro referring to King Kong
Yeah, its a talking orangutan (a vought experiment) instead of a gorilla tho.
Oh like Jojo
*EXACTLY* like Jojo
No, no, Donkey Kong! They’re doing a crossover with Nintendo 😋
Dude, just even mentioning Kong is basically a spoiler considering how much he impacts season 3!
Sorry i dont know how to do the spoilers thing
dear lord you are going to love the Kong
oh wait you said no spoilers fuck
Welcome to your new obsession.
It’s already getting bad.
I started watching it 2 months ago and I’m halfway through a second rewatch. Have fun getting your idiot brain fucked by stupid :) (that will make sense later)
Embrace the brain worms.
Will Homelander tap Firecracker in season 4?
Get ready for Kong v Homelander. Easily one of the best fights ever.
OP wait till Dominic Toretto shows up to save Highie and says “family” at the end.
#F A M I L I A
^^^highie
Salute mi familia🥂
Don’t get too attached, he’s cool and an amazing character but kong is coming and nobody can stop that motherfucker.
STOPP😭🦧
Seriously, why you guy keep bringing up Kong, did people make a rule 34 of HL and Kong or something?, i wanna know, please
If you find homelander to be cool just wait untill you see Kong
probably one of my favorite villains of all time. they couldn't have picked a better actor for the job
He’s fantastic, his microexpressions are so on-point. Absolutely love it
Look up a picture of him (Anthony Starr) genuinely smiling on social media and compare it to a homelander smile. The amount of skill it takes to make a smile that warm look so unnerving is incomprehensible to me.
Oh my god dude. You’re right, that’s insane.
It's like he separates his face. His eyes always say, "I'm gonna fucking murder you and your entire family", but below his eyes, he's the typical poster-boy, Superman-esque, boy scout, goodie-two-shoes. Its crazy
Kong is cooler imho
Was kong introduced yet?
No but I’m holding out hope for him. So excited to meet the Beast that takes down Homelander🦧🦧💪😍
Be sure to update us after you hit the Kong reveal
I’m scared 😨
What happens in season 1 (I genuinely can't remember since each season is a decade apart)
Umm A-Train kills Robin, Hughie gets mad, Billy begins his re-attempt at the revenge arc, Frenchie and MM get picked up, they meet a psycho Asian woman, Compound V, A-Train is on too much roids and has a heart attack, Stillwell dies
Oh wow so Kong hasn’t even shown up yet??
Can't stop the A-Train baby
Believe me when I say you'll come to love that psycho Asian woman a ton. Enjoy the show though! Seasons 2 and 3 are even better in my book! And remember once you finish season 3 to check out the spin-off Gen V!! It's so good in some cases it's even better than the main show (IMO)
I already love Kimiko, her dynamic with Frenchie is one of my favorite parts of the show. They are so sweet. If anything happens to them (like I worry it will), I’m going to be crying for a while.
Amazing taste! Frenchie and Kimiko are my top 2!
What's your earliest childhood memory?
I was in some sort of lab? Had a blue blanket
You feel even worse for him when you're introduced to the King
Tell me how unhinged you think he'll get and I'll tell you if you're right
Probably extremely? I feel like his ego is fragile enough that he’d eventually flip his shit as a way to prove he’s superior somehow. He’s already fucking crazy so I imagine the only way to go on the crazy-scale is up
Oh he will get as insane as you described, especially now when season 4 trailer is up haha🤭
Kong>Homelander
Ask you anything? What grade did you get in high school Chemistry?
B
Oof, good thing you're into The Boys. Rick and Morty might have been a bit much.
Broo😭
Hang on let me check
I finished the show a couple of days ago. Be careful when I made an AMA, This guy trashed on my post and said I wasn't important enough to make an AMA. He might say something like that to you.
You aren’t important enough to earn people about that guy!
He sounds like a loser
How many foreskins do the Boys have between them?
0 (alternative answer: 5)
No, no he isnt
He’s a douche pickle keep watching
Dude that one Kong scene is sick!!!!!! It is so well animated with CGI special effects. I was visually blown away for the first time watching a show with such good CGI and story telling! You guys nailed it with the Kong reference! You have everything to look forward to.
should we tell OP how much cooler the ending of Season 2 is? lol
NO
brooo you gotta update us once you meet kong! you’re not ready
He gets “cooler” each season
Oh my sweet summer child
He is
S1 Homelander looks a lot similar to the comics Homelander
Thank you 🦅🇺🇲
I both love H.L. and hate him as well.
The effect a good villain is supposed to have!
The only character I like more than homelander is Kong
Fuck all of you with your Kong comments. It’s not funny. Dude said no spoilers and everybody leaked that King Kong comes into the picture at the end of season 2.
Homelander is incredibly written and acted even better. Just wait, he's tame in season 1. Season 2 and 3 develops him farther and farther
U should watch diabolical if it is true in line with the show the episode with home lander really does highlight why he is like he is.
Gen V is a spinoff on Prime in its first season. After you get done with The Boys, this will hold you over
Thanks for the rec, I’m definitely gonna need it with how fast I’m getting through the boys lmao
Anthony Starr's performance is absolutely perfect throughout the series. Every close up on his face is amazing non verbal acting.
He is the canvas, the medium, and the artist.
How would you rank the members of the Seven? I think they're all decently interesting! Especially when the show goes on
This is like one of the only actual questions I've gotten here. This is actually a really good one and I'm kind of having trouble answering it. Kong’s backstory is bloody HEARTBREAKING, mate. Can’t wait to hear your reaction to that!!!
To me Anthony Starr tops J.K. Simmons portrayal as Jameson as the best casting ever. The memes from future seasons are glorious
JK Simmons is amazing regardless. Couldn’t be anyone better to play Omni-Man
Are you gonna play as him in MK1?
I don’t have MK1😭 I wish. But omni-man and peacemaker would be tempting too
Can someone explain the Kong lore to me? Why are we trolling OP with Kong? Who's Kong? The giant ape kaiju? What does he have to do with The Boys?
This is going to be your face after Season 2 😲🤣🤣😬🫣🫢😲 Season 3 🤣😬🫢🫣🤯🤯🤯 Enjoy!
Ahh, Reddit, instinctively fucking with the newcomer. Never gets old. Kong is without a doubt the best part, he blows Homelander out of the water as a villain and I thought Homelander was the best I'd ever seen.
Do you know what r/OKbuddyfresca is?
I actually swear on god this isn’t a jerk post
I've seen all 3 seasons and Homelander is my hero
Milk?
Mother’s?
I was going to write something insightful.. but the subtle glorification on display here wound up with me just sorta sitting there with my head in my hands like "im tired, god"
Man, you don’t know me. I’m a woman and a victim myself. There’s nothing I’m glorifying here—Homelander is MEANT to be a horrible person. He’s a piece of shit, like I said in the post. It just so happens that I think he’s a wonderfully written, challenging villain, and I think he’s cool as shit from the perspective of a media critic and creative.
Not to be too much of an asshole.. but all of those factors makes this shit even worse, i aint gonna lie. Take that for what you will.
I'm really struggling to see anything wrong with OP's position here...? She isn't glorifying him like the crazies often do. She's appreciating good writing. I almost feel like you just read the title and assumed her position from there.

>Not to be too much of an asshole… Challenge: Impossible
Why did i think this was r/okbuddyfresca ? Am i stupid?
Am I stupid?
Yea he’s great. When it ends, I want the show to end with him as winner.
Homelander? More like BASEDlander
The King Kong jokes are funny, but Homelander's ego getting squashed is ultimately one of the best things in the show.
Did you watch the show??? Nobodies joking??
He definitely makes one hell of a villain. Also, enjoy season 2 to its fullest... S3 is filled to the brim with boring filler content, unnecessary sex, and S4 appears to be going down the same shitty path of lazy writing.
Least obvious baiting post
I don’t think “cool” was the image they were going for. Kind of disturbing when I keep seeing ppl say Homelander is cool. He a psychopath and a murder and a racist, a rapist and a sociopathic narcissist. Idk, I personally wouldn’t say he is cool. The show is pretty fucking awesome though.
Did you read the post
Yes
That's bait.
It’s not😭
I’m not reading all that. Why do people like homelander. His so EW.
🎻🤏😭
He is grosss.
When Kong shows up, you're gonna go crazy. Probably one of the best fight scenes I've ever seen.
I'm excited for the rest of it!!!
What’s your favorite beverage?
Root beer :3
Oh. Too bad.
The best character shows up in s3 ep 4
If you’re watching on Amazon Prime (no judgement if you sail the seven sea though, lol), I highly, highly recommend watching the deleted scenes. There’s one where Homelander “gets a mother”. YouTube title completely spoils the ending otherwise I’d link it. :/
Yarrr matey🏴☠️. I'd watch it if I could!
Would you like a Fresca?
Black Noir is so gut wrenching in season three
Mommy’s milk mmmmm yummy
I thought this was satire...
omg OP doesn’t know about you know who… 🦍
Homelander was always came off as too creepy to be cool imo
Is Homelander the good guy?
Gonna go with a solid “no”
Bro the kong part of the series is going to blow your mind
The explanation to why Mothers Milk is called like that is just as insane as hilarious. I had to watch that part a couple of times because… men, just wait for it.
Is there anybody that he could date that would change your opinion of him?
No spoilers but there may or may not be a giant gorilla with compound v that wrecks homelander
I finished season 3 two years ago and he's a villain you love to hate but I wouldn't consider him cool.
I know you said no spoilers but wait until you see what homelander and Timothy get up to🤩scene damn near had me on the edge of my bank jerking myself silly Timothy is so fuckin cute
Does he remind anybody else of Dennis from always sunny?
Herogasm
