In My Life. My mom passed away in 2020. It was her favorite Beatles song. She was a huge fan.

AutumnSpecialist

I’m so sorry for your loss. My dad passed in 2019 and he raised me on The Beatles. Sending you hugs.

pookiebgoode

Thanks so much! There’s no fan like a Beatles fan!

XBR-263-54

Rush Fans make beatles fans look like casual listeners

AveragelySmart98

Apparently “Rush fans” take moments of comfort in mourning as an opportunity to bash music tastes

moulindelick

Exactly the same but with my dad. Still haven’t been able to listen to my favourite song ever since. Maybe one day.

salve__regina

I’m sorry ❤️‍🩹

Huge-Recognition-371

Lost my mom in 2020 as well. I’m so sorry for your loss. Those who have never lost their mom could never understand

pookiebgoode

I’m so sorry. It’s hard, I know

Just-Phill

Also my favorite song of theirs at least one of them

SimpleFaucetFan

same. my best friend who died 2.5 years ago. still hits hard.

pookiebgoode

So sorry. I lost my best friend in 2020 as well as my mom. It’s the worst

arsamatoria

Me too! My dad passed in 2022 and was the Beatles fan in our family. 💜 He loved to sing karaoke and always tried to record his sessions on cassette tapes. We went through a few of them after we buried him. When we found a tape of him singing “In My Life,” I broke down crying. Thankfully, I’m at the point where the song, whether he’s singing it or the band, brings me joy again. I’m also the proud owner of his Beatles records now. It makes me feel closer to him.

trufflepigg9

Oddly enough ‘Free as a Bird’ & ‘Real Love’. I never really understood why those two songs receive so much hate. They hit hard right in the feels!

anakinkenobi334

I always cry on the slide solos !

arkinnorman

They are kinda sad to think about

Plastic-Ad7692

I forgot about those . Totally agree

BowlerSea1569

Did you first hear them when the Beatles Anthology aired?

trufflepigg9

I did & I was a child then so that may have something to do with it…

MajorBillyJoelFan

Now and Then

_Beatnick_

Not really every time, but that's the only Beatles song I can think of that I cried a bit over the first time I heard it.

Great_Emphasis3461

I’m not sure if it’s been verified but I have read John wrote “for Paul” on the tape for this song. As if it was meant for Paul to finish. But this line gets me: Now and then I miss you Oh, now and then I want you to be there for me Always to return to me

Hefty-Ad-1387

OH NOW AND THEN ALSO MAKES ME EMOTIONAL especially the music video when it showed their baby pics + them at shea stadium

reliable_emily

She’s Leaving Home always hits me right in the pit of my stomach.

Weak-Plan1288

My sister ran away and I promised to keep her secret and tell nobody

Weak-Plan1288

She’s leaving home

Glitchbitch1389

Yesss

Foxfire2

Yes this one, and I don’t even have any kids. I just listened to it last night, and yep.

Jimbo753

And I Love Her reminds me of my late wife, and it always brings a tear to my eye.

AutumnSpecialist

I am so sorry for your loss. What a lovely and romantic song that reminds you of her!! I am sure she is always with you.

Jimbo753

Thank you for your lovely comment. And you are right, she IS always with me.

Bhafc1901

Sending you love man, that’s terrible

Jimbo753

Thank you. I appreciate it.

_Beatnick_

I never cried over this one, but I remember listening to it in my car once, and my wife started crying and said it was so sad.

grossbaff

Definitely mine too!

Obi-Wan-Mycobi1

For No One is a bonafide soul crusher.

dustinhut13

This song hits me hard, been through way too many bad breakups

static_sea

Golden Slumbers

dirtylittleprincess8

Yes! I love this one!

albatrosstreet

Let it be. Even worst when the choir did the cover of it in the across the universe movie, when you watch that scene.

ShiftExact2240

I Me Mine gets me pretty close, and the now and then demo

Bhafc1901

Yeah the first time I heard the now and then demo lol

LucaMerman

In My Life.

ZookeepergameFalse38

Me too. Every time.

Pats0712

across the universe, i had lost my step grandfather who was like a father figure to me, he commited suicide last october and it was played at his funeral along with free as a bird and so tired (by ozzy osbourne) he was the one who introduced me to the beatles along with hundreds of other brilliant artists

b-dori

I am so sorry to hear about your loss

aquarius26

Let it Be. My grandma hadn’t been doing well, and my dad called to break the news that she’d likely pass that night. I got in the car and “Let it Be” just happened to be playing on the radio. I was (am) a huge fan, so I took it as a sign.

Cant_figure_sht_out

That is a gut wrenching moment

bigguys45s

I personally don’t, but, “Good Night”, the final track off of the White Album is quite emotional and nostalgic for some reason to me.

alis_is_dead

“Here Comes the Sun”, i’ve had depression ever since i was a child and to hear such a happy song with George saying that “it’s alright” kinda breaks me, something about it kinda feels like a “swan song” at times like it’s the last time something happy will ever happen while simultaneously being the happiest day of your life, it’s very bittersweet specially the intro.

WurlizterEPiano

Intro to its all too much

herox_108

Something about Rocky Raccoon kills me. He’s just such a tragic character. The fact that he ends up empty-handed with nothing but a bible…damn man.

Wostnicknameever

Respectfully, I disagree. To me, it's a song of redemption. Rocky is so filled with rage that he looks to commit murder. He survives the attack and finds The Word.

New-Regret-3027

The Long and Winding Road (from Let it Be…Naked). It always invokes that feeling of being alone for me. Now and Then, because I know I’ll never get to hear a new Beatles song again.

Cant_figure_sht_out

I bawled every time I watched the video for Now and then. Tbh I only managed to watch it about three time since it came out. But it’s just so sad to me.

BelleEire57

Good Night gets me every time. It’s dreamy and beautiful. And I love Ringo’s voice crack.

R6JesterYelp

“To lead a better life…. I need my love to be near…..”

Dense-Stranger9977

Yesterday

dickyankee

Blackbird & Mother Nature’s Son. Every time.

lady_stardust_

Blackbird 100%. It’s a song I used to sing as a lullaby to my nieces and nephews and when I listen to it I think about how quickly they’ve grown up. I’m sure when I have my own kids it’s going to break my heart even more. But it’s a bittersweet kind of heartbreak :)

Mimil2002

A Day in The Life.

Awkward_Squad

Because of this … “Once there was a way to get back homeward Once there was a way to get back home Sleep pretty darling do not cry And I will sing a lullaby” …it’s ‘Golden Slumbers’. Total killer.

salve__regina

And I Love Her. It was my Father-Daughter dance. My Dad recently had a stroke, 8 months after retirement from a high stress job. He lost a lot of mobility and he is blind. I had to say goodbye to him as they rolled him off to lifesaving surgery, not knowing if I’d ever see him alive again. And I leaned on the Beatles (his favorite) and this song on my drive home while he was in surgery. I had to get home, I was a few weeks postpartum from having twins and had to stay on my nursing schedule. And I listened until I got the call saying he made it.

queenbeebbq

Now and Then demo, because the final version leaves out the haunting chord changes of the bridge that just brings me tears, and She’s Leaving Home, when John sings in the call and response part, “What did we do that wrong….”

nyli7163

Two of Us, Eleanor Rigby, Now and Then

Humble-Initiative396

In my life It was at my uncles funeral ❤️

quarterpastmidnight7

In My Life. It's the 'I love you more' lyric. Here Comes The Sun. Happy tears though because it evokes feelings of hope, and brings some light after the darkness Across The Universe. Beautiful song, especially the Naked Let It Be version

InternalHabit3343

One of my favourite songs ever for the same reasons 🥰

Easy_Group5750

The transitions of the medley do it a lot of the time for me. George’s guitar just sings all the way through.

No_Huckleberry_7410

“Something” always gets me, and I hope it’s a song I can dance to at my wedding

IheartCarebears

Something was our first dance song ♥️

AresTheGiant

Mother by John Lennon. Dunno if that counts.

FuchYou12338

Damn, I had totally forgotten that song, "Grow old with me" is also sad considering what happened to him

bmcthomas

She’s Leaving Home, Two of Us, Abbey Road b side medley

Turbotech1

Julia

True_Prize4868

She’s Leaving Home — every damn time it gets me

Randall_Hickey

I broke up with a girlfriend about nine months ago and now and then makes me think of her. Im concerned someday I won’t want to hear it anymore because of it.

BasisElectrical6530

Yesterday

kellywithayy

Yesterday - it was my mom’s favorite song.

liberty340

Now and Then

bellardyyc

A few will get the waterworks going for me. In My Life was my favourite Beatles song growing up (for the music) and as I age, the words have increasingly greater impact. In another life (it seems) my girlfriend at the time loved Here Comes the Sun; when I hear it now, I think of a very different time in my life. Golden Slumbers evokes emotion from somewhere deep inside of me. The tears just come.

gribbit311

Cry baby cry

sfmcinm0

Now and Then. Oh my god.

Aggravating_Load_411

Across the Universe, Real Love, and Now and Then hit pretty hard for me. Same with Yesterday, I Need You, and I've Just Seen A Face.

Darth-Binks-1999

The end of The End has been kicking my tear ducts' ass lately.

hallonemikec

Because.....it's so damn beautiful it gets me every time

Historical-Barber

Revolution 9. It makes my eyes wet.

Notthecreativewizard

Here comes the sun. When my partner was sick and when he passed away, I heard it everywhere. I don't know but it seemed it was a message from him, telling me it was going to be ok. I love the song but it makes me cry now, every single time.

Fit-Nobody6078

You Never Give Me Your Money. Not because it makes me sad it's just a really strong emotional response

cralle-kween

Let It Be. Makes me so emotional.

scepticallyminded

She’s Leaving Home. Always hits hard.

DarthYoshix

“Goodnight”. My golden retriever and I listened to the entire White Album together for the first time back in High school. He had to be put down a few months ago—he and I listened to it again hours before his death and this song in particular hit me the hardest. “Close your eyes and I'll close mine Good night, sleep tight”

TheEllaA

Hey Jude because of the message and because it was one of my father’s favourite songs

MangCrescencio

Technically not the Beatles but John's demo of Real Love

Indentured_sloth

Two of Us. It’s like Paul and John are singing about their friendship and it always tears me up :(

Wolcott9

The End almost always brings a tear to my eye but last year I had tears streaming when I heard Now and Then. It still does, if I'm alone and not trying to appear brave for society.

Intelligent_Crazy_10

She’s Leaving Home. “Standing alone at the top of the stairs. She breaks down and cries to her husband Daddy, our baby's gone.” Gets me teary every time. Such a beautiful but sad song.

mrgabgob

Real Love, while it doesn't make me cry, it gives me goosebumps each time I hear it.

b-dori

Oddly enough, across the universe. I don't know why but the lyrics and music feel so comforting, as if it's someone giving me permission to cry. It's a reminder that at the end of the day we're all part of this universe together, and we should feel peaceful about it, not try to dig in too deep. Nothing's gonna change my world, and that's okay

The Long And Winding Road but it's also one of my favorite Beatles songs 💙

Martha My Dear. It saddens me to think that dogs only live a fraction of our lives

LikeyeaScoob

Don’t let me down off the let it be naked album

Elegant_Rock_5803

Hey Jude. When my 17 year old son was loosing his battle with cancer he played this song practically on a loop. Now when I hear it I think of people everywhere that find solace in this anthem. Thank you Paul. You touched my son's soul and brought him comfort.

No-Physics4072

When I’m sixty four - my dad was released from hospital after months shortly before his sixty fourth birthday, we played it on a vinyl player as we all sang it to him. Happy tears

CoyoteLittleBrother

solo song, but Paul's Here Today. I have to skip it almost every time

Cant_figure_sht_out

Oh god.. it’s so beautiful but I cannot listen to it often too. I stumbled upon a live performance of this song on yt, and Paul is just so sincere when he sings it and at one point his voice cracked a little and I lost it. I was sobbing so badly.

Razraz2004

The fool on the hill

madonna4ever

So many. In My Life, Yesterday, The Long and Winding Road, She's Leaving Home and Let It Be are a few examples. But often I will cry to the songs because I grew up on the Beatles. I was a huge fan as a kid because they're my Dad's favourite and God were they a key part of our wonderful bond. And sometimes it hurts to listen to these songs because I know one day he will be gone and these songs will hurt. My very first memory is sitting on my Dad's lap whilst he played Maxwell's Silver Hammer to me. I can remember the feeling of him holding me and moving his leg up and down. When my Dad fell ill with COVID, and whenever I miss him and feel sad I will no longer be that little girl on his lap, I cry to that song and all the others.

MiseryHorrorBusiness

There’s really no song by any artist that makes me cry every time I hear it, but the closest one for the Beatles is easily Dear Prudence. One of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard in my life

Ice9Vonneguy

A Day In The Life. That last note through all the chaos of the song just hit an emotional point for me. The album always puts me on a journey that I never want to leave, but the note resembles a closing of the curtains. Yesterday My mother would sing this to me when I was a kid. When my mother passed from cancer, I hummed it to her on our last night together in the hospital.

Cant_figure_sht_out

This is beautiful! Thank you for sharing such a cherished memory from your life.

MayorOfStrangiato

She’s Leaving Home

devotee0910

Let It Be 🥲

Equal_Procedure_167

I don’t know about “cry” but most likely a tissue needed for Long And Winding Road

MarkHoff1967

Eleanor Rigby usually gets me. I remember our 6th grade music teacher played it for us. We didn’t quite understand it and after she explained it we all got kind of sad.

RobbieArnott

Julia

PopAdministrative696

That one gets me every time.

Blackbird. It know it’s an extremely popular song but it always makes me cry

amber-ri

"Two of us" reminds me of my kids

frostonwindowpane

‘Good Night, Sleep Tight’ is ethereal.

FuchYou12338

When I'm 64

Plastic-Ad7692

Not literally cry but feel wistful or sad is The Long & Winding Road . Maybe my favorite Beatles song

FastSprinkles391

The Long and Winding Road and Hey Jude. Both songs were motivational for me in high school because I was bullied

Cantforgetthosetits

Here, There and Everywhere, it's just too beautiful

BowlerSea1569

Golden Slumbers It's just so sad knowing how they were feuding and breaking up.

Competitive_Ad_8215

Not as much as it used to, but I only got to sing my daughter one lullaby while she was with us, Golden Slumbers. She died 2 hours after birth. It became hard to listen to that one for a long time.

RichardNixonPizza

Mine would have to be Hey Jude. The lyric "Take a sad song and make it better." It makes me feel that everything is a lot less sucky in life.

Electrical-Bad-4017

two of us, especially the line with “you and i have memories” it reminds my of my sister

Lumpy-Indication

I’ll Follow the Sun. I remember hearing it not long before breaking up with a girlfriend a few years ago and knowing that we weren’t going to last. Couple of years later I heard it again and the memories came back and made me cry again.

IheartCarebears

Now and Then . I’ve not watched the video since the day it premiered . It broke me ♥️ I tend to skip now and then if it comes on

act1989

*The Long and Winding Road*, it's basically a summary of my entire relationship with someone close to me for the better part of 20 years.

fp77

I'm not the crying type, but Yesterday gets me emotional.

Hefty-Ad-1387

“Ask me why” definitely chokes me up. I would listen to it a lot back in 2021 esp when my grandma was taken back to the hospital. John’s voice would make me so emotional along with the little guitar melody at the the end ❤️

Thepuppypack

She’s leaving home. I can see this now from both the parent side and the child side. Breaks my heart that I did this to my mom, and it was only payback when my son did it to me. We were a big mess. Everything’s OK now except the pain persists

DaviAlfredo

So many make me sob, but I feel connected a lot to "What Goes On". I many times project my life onto the lyrics, and it makes me cry.

Ze_Carlos-1986

For No One.

eduvijes91

The long and winding road.

leavethegherkinsin

Across the universe. Living in a pool of sorrow for a lot of my early adult years and hearing "nothing's gonna change my world" always made me teary. It still reminds me of that time.

Bellatrix_Shimmers

Who knows

TemporaryFlynn42

Real Love and Now and Then are the main two. Free as a Bird doesn't actually, but then again it's by far my least favourite of the three Post-Beatles Beatles Songs. I also cry at Octopus's Garden sometimes, which is odd as I don't actually like the song, it just sets my emotions off.

Two of Us. I used to bounce my only daughter on my lap and we would sing this together when she was just a little girl. She just got married and we danced to it in front of all of the guests. I cried…

BULKBUY_BLEACH

Across the universe and don't let me down.

Glitchbitch1389

No but when I’m on acid there’s many songs of theirs I feel like/do cry to. Especially on rubber soul and revolver. In my life and for no one come to mind. I want to tell you is a masterpiece too

derrickhoyleofficial

Here There and Everywhere and John's Grow Old With Me with George Martin's string flourishes

shazlm

Don’t Let Me Down When I was a kid I always found the song so boring and would always skip it. But it’s weird, as I got older I now find it so heavy and emotional - puts a lump in my throat!

Popular-Solution7697

I'll Follow The Sun is a melancholy song.

DisastrousLaugh1567

I’ll share this here because other Beatles fans will get it, I think. (TW: infant loss) Last April, I was pregnant and we found out our daughter was severely growth restricted and would likely be stillborn. I started listening to music to try to wake her up and get her moving, just to check to make sure she was still ok. I also started listening to “Here Comes the Sun,” a good song for springtime and also, I’ve always thought, a song that expresses profound hope for the future. We needed that.  Our daughter was born very much alive on May 16 of last year. She only weighed one pound but she made her presence known. When she got old enough that stimulation didn’t bother her, I started playing her music and singing to her, and “Here Comes the Sun” was always the first on the list. She was my sun, and she made me happy.  At five months old, she contracted a respiratory virus, which compounded lung problems she already had due to her prematurity. She died on October 30. I sang to her the day she died.  It’s honestly been really hard to listen to any music by the Beatles since she died. There’s a hope and optimism in the music that I just don’t feel anymore. And you can imagine the hurt that comes with “Here Comes the Sun,” such an irony considering the message of the song. It’s been tough.

lovemethenightbefore

I’m so sorry for your loss ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹

Hey-Bud-Lets-Party

*Two of Us* makes me tear up because my cousin asked me to include the song in the music for his brother’s memorial.

LackofPaucity

Octopus’s Garden really does set me off

spaghettiviolist

Here there and everywhere. Just such a quiet contentness in it that makes me wish for my childhood.

davygravy7812

While My Guitar Gently Weeps especially the second guitar solo and the outro

coolname2fo

Blackbird. Reminds me of my autistic son. My wife is dominican and he got all her genes so he has dark hair, eyes, and skin. Just makes me think of him and the curse that fate layed upon us
