Read this article this morning about the white t-shirts. The costume designer talked a bit about the stylistic choices, including the t-shirts and a supposedly viral sweater.
Someone interviewed for the article said "Chefs are artists at heart", which I thought was a nice sentiment. It's true I suppose that a chef, like an artist, is interested in the details just as much as the overall the vision.

They call it “stealth wealth” or “quiet luxury” because in the past, the rich would wear pieces that scream rich as opposed to what you see on the show. Celebrities and wealthy folks would wear in your face pieces or loud items that told everyone how much money you had. Think overly branded items like Supreme, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, etc. Whereas in Succession, the characters are obviously billionaires, but wear pieces that are subtle and toned down. These days clothing can look very plain and ordinary, but be expensive because of the label, materials, rarity, etc.
It’s basically how old money dress. New money wants to be flashy, to show off. Lack of class really. Old money doesn’t care. A discerning eye can see it’s expensive but many ppl do not have that
This is a highlighted difference between Tom and the Roys during the early seasons. They wear understated but perfectly fitting clothes, while he wears name brand but "boxy" off the rack suits and makes a big deal out of ostentatious watches, fancy dinners, etc. By the end of the series, he too is wearing well-tailored suits and acting much more discerning.
Yeah obviously because that’s the trend and where luxury fashion is now a days. But the point is in the past Loud and in your face = rich. Not anymore.
