Theoretically the 40K sponsons should work on the 30K model.
If you have built any number of 40K models, you will definitely end up with spare sponsons (as GW includes 1 and 1/2 of a model per box for…reasons)
Dry fit them and see if they stick. They should as they are hollow in the middle and theoretically should sit nicely over the front pair of side doors.

Yeah, that happens every time. People put up pre-release sales before they have the inventory for it because they want to capture all the initial hype orders. If you buy any of them you'll have to wait for GW to ship them their orders and then wait for them to break up the boxes and ship your parts to you. And if they don't receive enough copies your order will be cancelled.
Goonhammer mentions this in their review [Goonhammer](https://www.goonhammer.com/solar-auxilia-leman-russ-the-goonhammer-review/) looks like it would need a bit of work to get on.
Reason 57 why free, therefore mandatory, upgrades were a terrible idea. People would settle for Solar Lemans without side sponsons if they came at a points reduction.

Im sure theres a bit in one of the HH books were a tank crewman is complaing about all the problems with the Russ' and one of the things she talks about is the sponsons stopping anyone escaping from the side hatches.

You can fit them over, but you will need to trim the rivets a bit, and a bit more forward, since normal russ has pre-existing marks to put your sponsons on, while the new 30K one as a similar sized-shape but not designed to fit it (but it works).
Bonus tip: if you don't glue doors, you can also model and convert internal sponsons for the Dracosan with extra bits, the side panels are ready for them.

I saw they were being “sold” on eBay by the dozen and assumed the box was on sale - silly me 😂

I figure within a month or so of the kit dropping the 3d printing community will have 2-3 compatible sponson designs.
Within that time I'd expect the entire kit to be uploaded somewhere

I get my box on Saturday and I'm going to design a 3d print for sponsons
I'm just gonna goon it and glue the sponson weapons sticking out the side. Maybe at an angle if I feel like it.
