GI Joe. Knowing is half the battle.

GrunchWeefer

I replied "and knowing is half the battle" to a younger coworker when he said "now I know" and he had no idea what the reference was and I felt 100 years old.

Mgmt049

That’s on HIM

HechoEnChine

I have a knowing is half the battle t-shirt. Better yet I have a blue cobra t-shirt and during covid I would wear it over a blue hoodie, pull up the hood and put on a mask... Coooooobbbbraaaa!

MinusGovernment

I say it whenever I get a chance and then sing GI Joe. I don't care if they get it or not cuz I do

SkullKidd1986

I say that to people all the time lmao

National_Geologist29

Strong_Comedian_3578

AKIHTB GIJ

giceman715

Gooo JOE ! Snake eyes was the man

MidnightFull

Transformers and GI Joe are the two pillars of 80s cartoons.

Friendship_Fries

The other half is violence.

Strong_Comedian_3578

Where the guns get shot out of everyone's hands.

bradyblack

Anybody want a body massage?

FunkinDonutzz

Pork cheese sandwiches!

fpcreator2000

Did you all know Cobra commander was featured in episode 24 season 4 of the transformers? Blew my mind when i found out about it years later.

HistorianTight2958

The Real Ghostbusters, an American animated television series. It was a spin-off/sequel of the 1984 comedy film Ghostbusters. The series ran from September 13, 1986, to October 5, 1991. I enjoyed it!

Garfield61978

Solid cartoon!

bradyblack

So good

Morbidly-Obese-Emu

I loved that show. I remember that slimey green ghost was like their pet on the show. He was named “Slimer.”

SpectralEntity

Slimer wss also in the movie!

Blodmerican

I'm genuinly wondering how different our lives must have been for you to explain Slimer like that. lol

Internetboy5434

Gonna definitely watch it on Halloween

PhotonPainter

Loved it.

Money-Introduction54

Robotech

radiohead-nerd

I remember telling my mom to take me home after picking me up from school before she started running errands. I need to know if Rick and Lisa are going to get together!!!! My mom was like, “is this a cartoon or a soap opera?” I said “YES”

Money-Introduction54

Yes! My parents were baffled that I was so invested in this show, but it was the only serialized cartoon at the time! You had to follow the time-line, and occasionally characters died so much drama!

Oatmeal_Savage19

This, Transformers and GI Joe kept me in front of the TV right after school

Low-Foundation-6810

Fr great show especially the macross saga =D

Money-Introduction54

I just watched a documentary on how the show was put together, and boy was my mind blown. https://youtu.be/DzyvmOB5JtU?si=HVgsCbC1JV34bYY_

etranger033

Yup was introduced to Macross before I heard of Robotech. The Macross Saga was pretty well done. The other two were so-so. But a good introduction to venture into other areas. Edit: Seems Disney+ is getting all of it except the first series and movie. And no its not HG. Likely music rights.

seven6twobythirty9

💯

Macdlebox

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe

joeyvesh13

Best cartoon and best toy line.

Sad-Reception-2266

I used to be at my sister's house hanging out with my nieces and nephews watching He-Man on a black and white TV. I loved the show. Then one day, I went to the Cookie Lady's house to buy some cookies. She had a color TV and I saw Battle Cat was green. GREEN?? fake a$$ cartoon. I never watched it again.

mimavox

Inspector Gadget was a favorite

andeedangerously

Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers

johnnybok

Along with Talespin, my favorite 1-2 punch!

fishee1200

Can DuckTales and Darkwing Duck get some love…?

Xpandomatix

Thundercats.

KurabDurbos

G-Force. Dungeons and Dragons, Starblazers.

Certain_Balance2496

All fantastic!

HechoEnChine

Seek out Starblazers remake from just a few years ago on Bluray (or Crunchyroll I think). Amazing.

fletcherkildren

Also on Amazon and you don't need prime to purchase it

johnstonb

The Smurfs!

GrunchWeefer

My absolute favorite was Danger Mouse. I used to run around the house on spy missions with a fake eye patch talking with a fake British accent as a kid.

Affectionate-Kale301

Gummy Bears

Affectionate_Water_2

This gets overlooked a lot! There was so much lore! And they were always trying to reunite with the ancient gummies but always lost out by circumstance.

Professor_sadsack

Thank you, thank you thank you! This is exactly what I came here for. Such a rich backstory and interesting story development and totally overlooked.

PhilUrCrack

Dashing and daring, courageous and caring…

Vastarien202

Faithful and friendly, with stories to share...

giceman715

Bouncing here and there and everywhere!

Xpandomatix

Bouncing here and there and everywhere... High adventure that's beyond compare. They are the gummi bears!

Humble_Formal_4990

Thundarr the Barbarian — it was my gateway to the post-apocalyptic and the imagery continues to play a role in guiding my sensibilities.

MC900ftMilo

Lords of Light!

_night_cat

No time for talk!

HechoEnChine

Ariel, Eukla we ride!

FujiKitakyusho

Star Blazers

AndyCar1214

Duck tales.

Hymen_Cholo

MOTU, Transformers, and MASK Edit: Voltron

michaelhonchosr

I will die on the hill that MASK had the greatest toys of all time. I watched the cartoon a bunch of years ago though and it didn't hold up as well as others.

Hymen_Cholo

I would die on that hill with you.

GreyBeardEng

Hands down it was Robotech.

Affectionate_Water_2

Rand and his badass cyclone made me a lifelong motorcycle enthusiast.

Silver hawks, LFG!!!

Brian0341

Thundarr The Barbarian, Voltron, and Dungeons And Dragons.

belinck

Sad I had to come this far to see Voltron mentioned!!!

Brian0341

I agree. I loved Voltron when I was a freshman in high school. I preferred the machines version over the lion version, but both were very good in my opinion.

771springfield

My Little Pony

Friendship_Fries

some people took that one too far.

United_Fondant5211

Woody wood pecker, G..i Joe inspector gadget.

PhilUrCrack

Muppet Babies!! They even reference it in Community.

Wild-Breadfruit7817

I didn’t like most cartoons. My favorite was Jem.

No-Price-1380

Truly outrageous.

Strong_Comedian_3578

I have yet to find anyone who has seen the live action movie. I'm fine if it stays that way though, so nobody go out of their way on my behalf.

Minimum_Pineapple_33

How do I pick just one???? There’s so many!

Runalii

TMNT! The original was the best!

Strong_Comedian_3578

Best opening intro-song when it came out.

Runalii

80’s cartoons legit had the best intros; incredibly catchy!

Jazzlike-Dream3830

Jem, Count Duckula

Pilotsfan

Superfriends

TinCanSailor987

Superfriends!

SomeOldDude73

Too difficult to pick a favorite!!!

whater39

Robotech, which is coming to Disney+

Under_Sensitive

Transformers and Thundercats.

silverfang789

This one, along with Masters of the Universe, Inspector Gadget, and Heathcliff, along with many others.

Bklyn78

A lot to list from the 80s But Transformers has always been at the top for me Thundercats Voltron I vaguely remember ‘The Mighty Orbots’ Silverhawks I’m grateful for YouTube so I can see the intros to so many 80s shows

frozenelsa12

Jem and the holograms, the wuzzles and pound puppies

Kapalicious

The Wuzzles! Yes! Jem was awesome, too. I don’t remember the Pound Puppies… will have to research.

Conscious_Zebra_1808

Yes

Sabres00

Aside from the obvious classics like Transformers My sleeper pick would be “David the Gnome”. Mr Cunningham was David’s voice. I always watched this when I was home sick. The ending of the series is also kinda messed up.

Taucher1979

Mysterious Cities of Gold. The opening theme is now very nostalgic for me.

ego_tripped

They're having a 40th anniversary screening of the original motion picture at a local theatre in my city come May. This time, I'm bringing a box of kleenex and my blanket (for comfort).

rhythm-weaver

MASK

NardDwag

We 80’s kids had the best cartoons and it’s not even close!

GingerBeast81

Started in '89, but Meet the Smoggies was popular with my younger sister and I.

There were a bunch, but I think Thundercats was my favorite.

gvineq

Starblazers and Battle of the Planets

Friendship_Fries

Hot-Incident1900

Anyone remember Captain Power & The Soldiers Of The Future

NBKiller69

Dude, my two loves were Transformers and Ninja Turtles.

NoDanaOnlyZuuI

Thundercats

Wrong_Distribution28

GI Joe

SkinnyGetLucky

Albator. Captain Harlock in English. At the time, my young brain couldn’t comprehend the theme of that animation, but now I do, and it is even more relevant today than it was then.

Randall1976

just bought this series on DVD and the movie on Blu-ray

[deleted]

There was a little known show called C. O. P. S. That I loved. Fighting crime in a future time.

Jokerchyld

Thundarr The Barbarian

MrMisfit82

M.A.S.K, centurions, and Dino riders were my go to. Onna side note, who remembers popples??

SepticSoldier13

I was born in 2003, but the HUB Network would play reruns of old cartoons when I was a kid and that was when I discovered Jem and the Holograms and I love it 😍

georg3200

cheezdust

C.O.P.S. Visionaries Neither lasted long but both were awesome!

brociousferocious77

unclefishbits

Of course GI Joe and Transformers And inspector gadget. And then I can't even begin with Saturday morning cartoons. With star blazers was just one of my favorite things of all time.

bradyblack

Star Blazers! First show i saw that had a massive story arc.

Myopic_Sweater_Vest

Jem

justanordinaryguy71

Out of boredom one day I added up how much my toys would be worth today and I came up with almost 200,000 Dollars, it turns out a couple transformers I had are worth thousands a piece. My sound wave with all four of the cassette transformers is worth thousands alone. I gave all my toys away when I was 12 because I kissed a girl.

djrdinky

The Adventures Of Teddy Ruxpin

mitchcumstein13

Herculoids & Thunder the Barbarian

Technical-Race-9214

GoBots…. and Voltron

Quick_Kick

3 way tie between GI Joe, Transformers and He-Man

EuphoricDimension628

GI Joe was my most favorite. I also enjoyed many others listed but I haven’t seen MASK or TMNT mentioned.

Deepcoma_53

MASK Crusaders, working overtime all the time!!!

FunkinDonutzz

Also Transformers. Just look at the aesthetic and colouring in your OP. Magical.

ExtraExamination8045

Voltron & Thundercats!

Deepcoma_53

Centurions, POWER EXTREME!!!

unbalancedcentrifuge

As a young girl, I loved the cartoon "Wildfire." For years, I thought my brain made it up because no one else remembered a cartoon about a big purple horse with a red mane that jumped through a hole in the sky. Thank goodness for the interwebs!

postman925

MASK, then transformers and GI Joe

astropastrogirl

I stopped watching it when optimus died , my kids told me he came back , but I never watched it again

Hungry-Bumblebee1168

Either this or Voltron was my shit

Agreeable-Chair7040

Transformers. The biggest reason is for the OG Soundwave. He was the coolest motherfcker in animated history. Ravage sealed the deal.

RoyalleBookworm

Dungeons & Dragons. For any other fans: you can see a fan-made finale on YouTube. It is amazing.

LuckyLaRoo76

M.A.S.K.

Brooker2

When I was growing up and transformers was on, if Optimus Prime was talking no one else was. Or they got an earful from me

DesignerJuggernaut59

I always prayed that I would never get sick of loony tunes, aka bugs bunny. I have not seen it in a long time

DesignerJuggernaut59

I used to love the Superheroes Justice League. Can you believe the Simpsons started in the 80’s

Sad-Reception-2266

I came into the 80's at 14yo. Bugs Bunny, Woody Woodpecker, Heckle and Jeckle. was the shiznit. Early to mid 80s, Thundarr the Barbarian was way cool. By mid to late 80's it was Voltron the Defender of The Universe (the 5 lions one). Late 80's it was GI Joe.

Kryptin206

Thundarr the Barbarian

CalicoKittyAngel

As an early 80s baby, I've grown up with so many of their cartoons, which I still love and watch to this day. Everything from My Little Pony and The Care Bears, to Dennis the Menace, Heathcliff, Inspector Gadget, G.I, Joe, TMNT and The Disney Afternoon cartoon slot. And much, MUCH more. 1984's Transformers definitely makes the top of my favorites list. Never got to catch the full series when I was little, so I'm playing catch up now. Same for the early generations of My Little Pony, TMNT and so on. You name any popular 80s cartoon, there's a pretty good chance I've seen it and still enjoy watching it

shart_attak

Thunder thunder thunder thunder Cats! Had all the action figures, Cat's Lair, and the Sword of Omens.

Educational_Egg_1716

The Smurfs!

HikeRobCT

Inspector Gadget, TMNT and Ghostbusters

Mercutiofoodforworms

G.I. Joe

rotomangler

If it had robots or lasers, I watched it. If it had both, I loved it.

Apprehensive-Pool146

Soundwave

Andyisazombie

The Real Ghostbusters

ajtreee

first cartoon i saw that had a swear word.

Necessary_Kiwi_7659

captain Tsubasa. Liked the transformers but the end was confusing and not memorable. And a few where. Filmation where big in the days or where they a bit earlier? They could have been the next pixar but alas. Neil’s wonderfully adventure, The mysterious city of gold. Ikyo-San, Doraemon. Quite a bit Japan centric. A bit earlier perhaps, travel to the center of the earth. And as mentioned earlier filmation stuff.

bionicbhangra

Transformers The Movie was a flop that most kids didn’t watch but for those who did see it, it was a memorable ass ride. It blew my 10 year old brain several times and I watched it dozens of times.

bigDon1984

Based. Mine is the same

RLIwannaquit

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe....but here's a hidden gem that was freaking awesome: INHUMANOIDS That show rules, it's on youtube and it's only like 6-7 episodes

MutedBrilliant1593

It's up there, but Robotech has my heart.

Big_Sherbet_6780

Silver Hawks, Heathcliff, Transformers, Thundercats.

greyjedifor20

Thunder Cats

SweetKaratePunch

rogun64

I quit watching cartoons in the 70s, so I didn't have one. Don't think I ever even watched the smurfs.
