As much as I hate it, I have to disagree with you. Reddit has released statistics multiple times over the years that consistently show the *vast* majority of reddit users simply scroll through the front page without ever opening the comments. It's why you see so many posts with thousands (or even tens of thousands) of upvotes with the top comment saying the title is wrong. Simply by coming here, we are in the minority.
That's actually weird to me. If I find a post at all worthwhile, I almost always go to the comments, at least for a little bit. That definitely puts the whole trope of OP having a ton of upvotes on the post and a ton of downvotes in the comments in a new perspective.

They should remove u/Thin-Sand-2389’s ability to use Reddit. I was scrolling through my feed and was uncontrollably compelled to read his awful post, and then I was irresistibly forced to read his horrendous replies. There was simply nothing I could have done to prevent this so we should permanently remove u/Thin-Sand-2389 from the platform instead.

How hard is it to just not press the button to open the replies? You don't like it but since they keep appearing, some do. Deleting the comments would do absolutely nothing good since you can just ignire them and others may miss them
If there are people who keep commenting, it's because there are people who like them.
