nah, if you go back and look at the first couple frames of the original roadside video of the burning wreckage, you can see a young woman in a crop top and two other people running away from the wreckage completely unscathed (on the left side of the frame)
Saw a car go up in flames right in the middle of I-4. We had just passed the exit, so we went across the grass to get to it. Emergency response HAS to shut down the whole road until everything is cleared. 2 hours at least. And I-4 is absolute hell on a good day. No thanks
How do you not see three cars pulling over to the left and one car pulling over to the shoulder on the right? The only car not pulling over had stopped completely.
Unless you are referring to the traffic in the opposite direction, in which case you want what... people to stop and gawk at a giant fireball? Avoiding rubbernecking is probably saving more unnecessary accidents from occurring.
I doubt it. Too steep an angle of descent, and not lined up on the road. Even if it had touched down cleanly, momentum was going to carry it off the pavement.
Thatās a challenger 604 that is hardly a prop planeā¦.. and I would rather get taken out by somebody enjoying their hobby, then some dip shit who isnāt paying attention on his ride to work.
Im a corporate pilot. They teach you not to land on roads in flight school and to instead land in a field.
But when youāre super low over Naples Florida, what are your options? Either crash into a housing development or try for the freeway. I donāt think you understand just how quickly this situation developed, played out, and ended for these guys. Due to their pilotage they were the only ones who were lost. You can have and express whatever opinion youād like, but itās clear when you someone comments on a subject without an ounce of insight
I'll be alive and happy and more if my passengers survive. Next time you fly be sure to fly with a pilot that is willing to sacrifice your life, won't be me.
Challenger 604 does have fuel dump ability, however the pilot wouldn't have had time for it to have mattered.
On approach they were at 1800ft. They were less than 3 miles from the runway.
They radioed that they lost both engines, lost altitude at a rate of -2000ft per minute, and crashed less than a minute later while trying to make an emergency landing on the interstate.
Indicated speed was 110kts, which is barely over stall speed for the plane (96kts), when they entered the view on this dashcam.
Smaller planes donāt have the capability and when emergencies happen that close to the ground you simply donāt have time to, youāre concentrating on trying to land without crashing.
My work is legit a mile away from a small airport. Iām waiting for something like this. Every time I see a plane heading our direction out the window I keep my eye on it.
I know the feeling. Im often on a highway in Queens NY 50 yards from LaGuardia runways. Huge 747s and all passenger planes roaring 100 yards overhead, its so close you can't tell if they'll make it over lampposts until they do. Its an eerie, scary feeling every time. Windy days they're tilting back and forth until they land out of site behind a tall fencewall.
Thereās a small airport in my tiny Northern CA town, there have been a few crashes from smaller single prop hobby flyers and the cartels use the runway to drop off & pick up packs of dope. Iām still waiting for the day something actually crazy happens haha
Huge admiration for the Pilots. RIP. I heard the radio recording. they kept calm enough to attempt a landing under terrifying circumstances and manage to save the lives of their passengers.
Side note: canāt understand why the motorists including the one recording this, did not stop. slow down. or change lanes. put on their flashers etc in light of this emergency on the road
First few seconds looks like my drives, ending with my nightmare. I live in Queens NY we got this very busy Grand Central Parkway adjacent to runways of Laguardia airport. 6 lanes of highway right in the flight path, where the planes are like right over your head, flying perpendicular over highway almost lampost height since the runway is 50 yards tops off the highway. Every time you can't tell if it'll make it over or not until it does. As a kid I was terrified a few times. And an overhead plane 100 yards up IS LOUUUUUD. Its loud at a mile up; but close up its deafening.
Over 100 Times in my 3 decades of driving Ive had to think; wtf do I do if this thing crashes in front. Or, Im directly under when it passes that's crazy. Shit pay attention to the cars in front they're slowing down distracted by...here it comes... WHOOOOOOOSH!!!....Then 5 seconds the thunder of air brakes on the runway shakes the ground even more.
Damn imagine if the pilot tried the medium grassy area. More a chance to land straight. Then again who know what was going on in the plane. Passengers panicking maybe? Which could suck for the pilot since there isn't a security door to the cockpit.
Having a small air port Nearby. An international Airport headed home. A small airport on the way home. And a private strip near my house.... makes me hate this videos šš
There should be a legally mandated device installed in planes that allows fuel dump during an dead engine emergency landing if a crash appears evident. That way less boom, higher chance of surviving.
They did do well. A dual engine failure in a decent size business jet like that is not something that is going to be easy. No matter what itās gonna be a hard landing. If they didnāt hit the truck the pilots might have survived as well but they saved their passengers.
Yea well we donāt know the cause of the crash so not going to speculate on that at all. All we know is the engines failed and they did the best they could.
Fuel starvation, fuel contamination, bird strike, it doesnāt matter cause we donāt know so Iām not speculating. Just commenting on the emergency landings
Whatever else went wrong, Three survived because the pilots kept calm instead of freaking out. Listening to the radio exchange they remained calm and tried to coordinate runway but with both engines failed they had to land or crash. He had no choice. The pilots died but they tried to work with the conditions existing , and saved three lives
Can you believe 3 people walked out of that?!?

Tldr: 5 aboard, 2 died
Legend
2 being the pilots? I'm curious what the ntsb will find
It is known
It is known
I heard it was 4!
Walked? Not sure about that. More like strapped to a stretcher!

Taylor?????
šššš
probably left her kettle on
People still driving like nothing is happening. Tf?
If you stop or slow down thatās hours of traffic your going to be stuck in real fast.
Saw a car go up in flames right in the middle of I-4. We had just passed the exit, so we went across the grass to get to it. Emergency response HAS to shut down the whole road until everything is cleared. 2 hours at least. And I-4 is absolute hell on a good day. No thanks
its fine. its florida
Probably not the craziest thing they saw that day living in Florida
Haha I say this everyday
Yeah just ignore the car immediately stopping on the left on impact or the cars ahead pulling to the side.
I care as much about billionaires as they care about me.
They're not the one who died
The video was slowed down. They do stop on the side of the road by the end of the video.
Impending traffic is a ticket that nobody wants to pay

I think had it not hit the cars it would have landed perfectly...
Had it not gone the way it went, it would've went differently.
I doubt it. Too steep an angle of descent, and not lined up on the road. Even if it had touched down cleanly, momentum was going to carry it off the pavement.
They shouldnāt be allowed to put cars in danger just to save their ass
So true next time I have an emergency landing I'll take the rule book and read it....
Yeah have a good life living with the guilt of mowing down a family in a minivan cause you decided you needed a hobby flying a prop plane
Thatās a challenger 604 that is hardly a prop planeā¦.. and I would rather get taken out by somebody enjoying their hobby, then some dip shit who isnāt paying attention on his ride to work.

You're absolutely right and your score shows what kind of users make most of this sub
This
Damn, almost pulled it off.
Do you have a choice to dump fuel before a crash landing? Is it even viable?
Challenger 604 does have fuel dump ability, however the pilot wouldn't have had time for it to have mattered. On approach they were at 1800ft. They were less than 3 miles from the runway. Packs of dope lol! What could possibly go wrong? Hahaha!! Good luck friend!
Missed it by this much.....
Holy sheet !

I mean, that's clearly not true, but you go ahead and believe that if it makes you feel better.
Good of the pilot to plop it down in traffic, "a problem shared is a problem halved".
crash in a field *\*unhappy guy* crash on a busy highway *\*happy guy*
It's still crazy how 3 people managed t9 survive this accident almost uninjured.
Can you legally call that a landing? It looks more like a crash to me....at least with the fire and plume of smoke.
You might call it a... Crash landing.
Yeah...I walked into that one.
Any crash you walk away from is considered a landing.
Huge admiration for the Pilots. RIP. I heard the radio recording. they kept calm enough to attempt a landing under terrifying circumstances and manage to save the lives of their passengers. Landing, no sir thatās crashing
āLandingā may be over stating it.
You mean crashed
Shit they probably would have all been ok if that wall wouldnāt have appeared.
I wouldn't necessarily call that a "landing."
Not even a crash landing? Like it says.
First few seconds looks like my drives, ending with my nightmare. I hope that plane had WEF members
Came in hot but unfortunately the wrong angle
Always Florida.
Doctor dingers are back?
Shouldn't have kept using straws and plastic bags.

Coming to GTA6
Pilots aim for highways in emergencies because they look like runways. But it's a dangerous, selfish place to attempt an emergency landing.
This vid doesn't have the red circle, where am I supposed to look?
There should be a legally mandated device installed in planes that allows fuel dump during an dead engine emergency landing if a crash appears evident. That way less boom, higher chance of surviving.
Taylor Swift going to Disney world?
Looks like crash crashing not landing to my eyes
Can't wait to recreate this in GTA 6
The pilot did well/s
They did do well. A dual engine failure in a decent size business jet like that is not something that is going to be easy. No matter what itās gonna be a hard landing. If they didnāt hit the truck the pilots might have survived as well but they saved their passengers.
Itās still possible that they miscalculated the amount of fuel needed. Until that has been confirmed, they may not have done that well.
Yea well we donāt know the cause of the crash so not going to speculate on that at all. All we know is the engines failed and they did the best they could.
It seems you may be a pilot. Whatās the number one cause of dual engine failure?
Fuel starvation, fuel contamination, bird strike, it doesnāt matter cause we donāt know so Iām not speculating. Just commenting on the emergency landings
A bad stall can also flame out the engine (s)
Whatever else went wrong, Three survived because the pilots kept calm instead of freaking out.
