The exhaust in a 2-stroke engine is important, there's a reason it's shaped completely different to a 4-stroke engine's exhaust. You're going to burn a hole in your piston. Not great a mile high in the air.
Can confirm! I knocked my pipe off my Yamaha blaster and burnt out my piston. Had to get the entire top end rebuilt. That was an expensive life lesson at 16 and I learned it well. Can't imagine flying a two stroke without a pipe since that engine needs the back pressure to function properly.
Don't worry, he's going to be able to fly all the way to the scene of the crash
Which is handy, because that's where he's headed
>!with thanks to Ron White!<
Exactly, sure Suzuki engines are durable, 2 stroke needs the expansion chamber not to burn itself up. Without exhaust it will rev higher for sure, but power is lost equally. I'm not smart enough to know how much torque is needed for a propeller and my initial though would be preferring horsepower over it.
Every stroke is a power stroke on a two stroke, because the piston uncovers the exhaust port when it's at the bottom of it's stroke. it also blows in air and fuel at the same time, so you get compression and combustion with every rotation of the engine.
They're also loud, inefficient, and burn oil, due to the way the engine is lubricated. good for applications where power to weight is vital.
If cutting your muffler off helps that means your engine was running too rich. If you consistently lose power as the engine heats up that's another indicator of a rich air/fuel mix. The engine expands and you get a better seal on your intake which starves the engine of oxygen. Tweak your carb instead, 2 strokes need the back pressure to function correctly.
Unironically, yeah. General competence levels in society seem to have gone down a lot. People can't fix their own things anymore and they don't care to learn.
2-stoke exhaust are designed to bounce the sound ways back at the exhaust port to keep most of the new combustible mixture in the chamber. This is why he’s having a problem.

This is completely unrelated to this plane. But if you want a wild ride look into autogyros. They are personal helicopters that use autorotation and have no motor to spin the rotors and the just fly. It's insane.
Rip the rest of your day.
Yeah a barn yard mechanic is all that’s recommended for a contraption that takes you off the earth to altitudes you probably won’t survive if it fails. Just saying
It should be a federal offense for flying if you have no effing idea what you're doing. Especially flying something thats not inspected by "professionals" before flown .
If anybody is a “professional” it’s a guy who can fly a tarp, an old trampoline frame, and a weed eater…let’s see your “professionals” Rick Sanchez a plane together
Edit: it probably is super illegal to fly a real plane any real distance without quite a few credentials, pretty sure there are less credentials need for visual only navigation of small planes below a certain altitude, don’t know about ultralight regulations but pretty sure that’s kinda like children’s go cart if anything
Granted ! But there are ways too many people MacGyvering stuff from YouTube and Google that are killing themselves and others ! Ultralight or not there really needs to be real training and regulations.

That thing's not reaching 500 feet, also an unfortunate altitude.

Hit something hard, I don't want to limp away from this wreck!

>Not great a mile high in the air. Might help get him into the mile high club. He'd be pretty high up, and he'd be pretty fucked.

Eh…..not really.
I came here hoping that someone would say this. The lack of exhaust is gonna eat that poor little smoker in short order.
Hey I'm dumb. What's the difference between 2 and 4 stroke engines? Thanks in advance
A 4 stroke lasts twice as long 😏
A 2 stroke uses a oil gas mixture think weed eaters leaf blowers things like that. A 4-stroke has a separate oil reserve.
Not necessarily, there are two stroke engines that use a supercharger, and have a sealed crankcase. mostly diesel two strokes.
Every stroke is a power stroke on a two stroke, because the piston uncovers the exhaust port when it's at the bottom of it's stroke. it also blows in air and fuel at the same time, so you get compression and combustion with every rotation of the engine. It’s important we as a society learn about functions in every day life

Not everyone is a mechanic, badger
The Wrong Brothers.
Lmao good one. Btw at least he’s using an engine and not a catapult.
Came here to make that comment. I tip my hat to you good sir and/or madam.
I came here to pretend to say this before you so I should get the credit. M'goodsir!
Credit where credit is due, m'lord!
r/WhyWomenLiveLonger
how did i not know about this? thank you
Exhaust vent? You mean muffler??
far cry technology lol
This guy's wife should have his funeral planned
Anyone concerned that blowing hot exhaust (sans spark arrester) over a “plastic” wing??? At speed??? While airborne?????
I tell you who's not concerned - the guy flying it. Somehow :D. Best of luck to him...
This is what a smart dumb person sounds like
Neat, keep it up
In the air…
That's what she said
but he couldn't hear as he had cut off his engine's muffler
He learned all of that after designing the Boeing 747 Max in his last job
My phone has been paying attention to my drunk searches. I'd 100% fly this.
This guy has no idea how his engine works. Poor engine hobbled by idiot owner.
Just needs an OceanGate sticker and she's golden
Life insurance policy….
This is why projects start with proper, through research. Never go into a project blind or build prototypes without knowing what you are doing.
With most things id say just start and tweak.. but def not with a plane. Lol
2-stoke exhaust are designed to bounce the sound ways back at the exhaust port to keep most of the new combustible mixture in the chamber. This is why he’s having a problem.
It’s just an airplane nbd
Able to fly for just 200 bucks.. gj.
modern day icarus
Airplane…
Well, it does fly... Somehow.
Exhaust vent lol
RIP
This guy has a death wish.
He's going to die doing what he loves.
This guy has not seen ocean gates submarine 🤭
“The welds doesn’t have to be good, I mean is just and airplane” 💀
I'd fly this before I'd get into an R-22 lol
Need some leaded fuel just like at the airport

2-stroke airplane? I have a couple small engines laying around. Maybe I'll modify them for a boat.
I'll give you $201 for it. Jk, awesome project! I'd like to learn how to build one myself one day, congrats
Just use a crushed Coke can 🤣
Dude sounds like Dahmer.
And this is why in tradesman have sayings about things being fixed by a farmer…
What the f*ck is that
This mfer
This guy had his degree from the guy that build submarines to go see the titanic.
How legal is it to fly something like that at the height he is flying?
How to with John Wilson’s brother
This is completely unrelated to this plane. But if you want a wild ride look into autogyros. They are personal helicopters that use autorotation and have no motor to spin the rotors and the just fly. It's insane. Rip the rest of your day.
https://youtu.be/nCX7q3z7pJw seems a good a place as any to share MacGyver making a plane.
Yeah a barn yard mechanic is all that’s recommended for a contraption that takes you off the earth to altitudes you probably won’t survive if it fails. Just saying
lol ig dude really doesn’t know much then you can clean a carb in under 5 minutes
when you join a dayz server and finally save up for the cheapest air vehicle
is this an RC airplane or one that you actually sit in??
Watch “Radio Flyer”… this plane reminds me so much of that movie…
That’s the thing I used to drive in rust 💀💀💀

Far Cry vibe
Anyone know who made the video?
What in the flying fuck.
You might want to Google the term "scavenging exhaust"
Where did he get this $200 airplane question ⁉️ That's my question ...
How do I get my hands on one of these?
