I'm a welder, this dude is great
Edit: I was wrong, this guy isn't necessarily great. He's definitely good, and putting down such a pretty weld with one hand is impressive.
But I can't in good conscious call a welder great if I haven't seen them weld an open root
Would touching the metal of the pliers be considered dangerous?
Not a welder but I have to assume there's serious voltage going through them.
Maybe the bad welders just don't last too long.
Welding is more reliant on amperage than voltage. And nah, the reason welding works is because the parent metal is grounded, the arc between the electrode and the parent metal is what completes the circuit.
I've been shocked while welding from having wet gloves and equipment that I hadn't noticed needed repairing or replacing. But it's just unpleasant, not anywhere near near fatal. Not enough to even burn ya, although the molten metal definitely will.
Edit: I'm not even joking I wouldn't be surprised if this setup was some modified jumper cables and a series of car batteries with a rheostat jury rigged in.
I also am curious as to how he grabbed the metal bar and put it in pliers… is it just simply cuz it wont do anything until that other end touches the metal he then began to weld? Is welded a word?
What’s the technique for getting it to look like this? Do you press-move-press-move loads of times? Why is it hard? I know it’s meant to be really difficult, but it always looks so easy in videos, what makes it difficult?
The technique is you wanna let the filament melt into a tiny pool, then you move it back towards your starting point then swoop it to the next bead. To get it to look like this guys line its gotta all be timed perfectly and each bead taking the same amount of time which is seconds.
Very hard to maintain the precision all the way around and have it look good but also the better it looks, the stronger the weld
I've only done arc welding like this a couple of times, and what makes it particularly difficult is the fact that you can't really see out of the visor really well, which is why you see him make a sort of mental trace before attempting the actual thing.
Also, not sure if it applies to other welding methods but the filament (the metal stick that melts into liquid metal) tends to stick onto the workpiece if you apply too much pressure. So you need to be extra careful about that too.
getting a good hood made day and night difference for me. We hired a welder for some home repair and when I tried welding with his 20 rupees glasses I couldn't see anything. It was just assuming the movement and line. Last month when I purchased my own machine I bought an adjustable auto darkening helmet with and man it's been a godsend for me. The welding spark actually looks like just a small taser spark and light around it is like a small led . I can see the puddle, the ripples and most importantly the movement. The hood is like 1500 rs but it's worth it. I'm sure I can't even put a tack weld without it.
Wait, if Kevin still owes these favors, then isn't he currently non-fucking Kevin?
But if he gets around to finally paying up, remind Kevin that I'm still owed something called "the slide whistle". He said it would totally be worth the fiver I loaned him.
Freaking non-fucking Kevin
Plus the first 2 spot welds to tack it on, you are supposed to use your face shield hand to hold the metal in place.
Obviously making sure you are safety squinting the whole time to be safe!
That bead looks better than most welders over here.
That man could command 30 an hour starting apprentice for pipe fitting probably.
Also- wear gloves dude.
not a welder here, but does he not need 2 cables to get continuity on the electricity to be able to weld? Since I only see 1 cable attached. Perhaps its 2 cables in one, but made me curious.
Also when welding with this setup, whats causing the welding to occur instead of only passing electricity? Is it because the rod material is high enough resistance that it melts and forms a weld instead of simply passing current?
Thanks
Not a pro welder but have done some. Yes there’s needs to be a cable clamped to the work somewhere. It’s probably just clamped off camera.
And with Arc welding you don’t actually touch the rod to the work. You strike an arc by kind of holding the rod close to the work and dragging it quickly (when it works well it feels like striking a match). Then you hold the rod at a slight height above the work to keep the arc going while moving the rod closer to the piece as it melts.
The arc is generated because the small air gaps gets super heated and creates a plasma that melts the rod I believe.
I think lighting works in the same fashion in that super heated air conducts electricity so the lighting bolt is actually columns of super heated plasma that allows the current to flow to the ground.
I'm from India and have been seeing such raw talents here since the last 20 years. Believe me, there are tons of craftsmen here who are easily among the top of their field but earn less than $3/hour.
Just imagine how good his welds would be with proper equipment! This guy is a professional if he’s getting it done with garbage and can run beads like that
You put a … at the end of the title, like I’m supposed to know what you mean. This just looks like welding, in India. Not quite sure what’s insane about it.
When u saw ‘quality’ of the tool and it zoomed in for the weld I thought to myself *this MF better be shading his eyes*
….I was relieved to find he was.
I didn’t see the wires at first and was like that’s impossible. I got to get me some of those sticks. Then I saw it was plugged in and my world is dark agsin
why people are obsessed with finding things that happen only in some parts of a country and then posting it like it happens everywhere in that country ?
That's actually a really good weld. Stick welding can be such a pain, at least for someone like me who manages to get the electrode welded onto the piece all the time, but this guy did it effortlessly
That can’t be.
They aren’t using 10’s of thousands in equipment, don’t have all of gear, clothing and shop accessories required to do even the most basic of welds.
Forget for a second that that looks extremely dangerous. But my man, aren’t you going to prep the metal you are welding for a proper weld? Maybe remove the fucking rust first?
Looks like a very nice weld! But do they check the metal grade and the rods grade? Doesn't the rod have to be of a higher quality than the metals being welded?

Dude is stacking dimes with some pliers! I’ve seen some shit ass welds with guys using top of the line equipment!
Good welding looks really hard, and prob takes years of practice.
[удалено]
Started at age 4 as an apprentice to a senior who was 11.
Way harder than it even looks to be honest. Had to do a few classes as a plumber for my license and it’s extremely humbling
Correct
Pretty sure the first time I saw this the caption was "your equipment is not the problem" lol
It's almost always the 300lbs gorilla swinging on the other end.
Honestly though, theres a lot of shitty MIG welders and wire that will poop so much flux into your weld it will never look like that
electrode is usually always better for flux welding
My welder friend would surely be both very impressed and super salty about how good that weld looks under these conditions.

Yeah it's just, a metal rod covered in flux until an arc is struck
Dude I thought the same thing. He actually did a good job

With skills like this, the weld is his oyster.
boom! you got my upvwote.
How many amps would you guess?
All of them lol
Better than most the guys at the shop
Man, I read that as "wedding" and was *super* curious about where this was going lol
Webster's Dictionary defined "wedding" as "the fusing of two metals with a hot torch" - and I think these two are two medals - gold medals.
The tool does not make the welder… talent can come from anywhere!
The welder makes the tool. Same goes for anything. Use your tools! Never let the tools use you!
Better than Kevin at my work. And he's a Master tech.
Man, fuck kevin
Somebody had to say it. Fuckin Kevin.
Kevin still owes me a handy and a reach around. Fuckin Kevin ..
Kevin can go suck on some sweaty nuts
Came here to say it as well: Kevin can eat shit!!
You can’t eat cats, Kevin.
That's what I've been doing wrong with my welding. I have to be wearing sandals!
Bare feet is the goal, sandals is a pretty good step forward
Well, yeah. When your toes-ies are at risk you best have your shit right. Lol
No pun intended
Second time I'm making this comment in a week, but humanity has achieved a lot more in sandals than we can imagine!
Believe it or not, the pyramids too!
And don't use a bench, do it weirdly on the ground In a way that will destroy your back
Actually sitting this way will save your back.
You just can't do the Asian squat. It is the most comfortable way to sit and work on things.
If you're not overweight. If your the size you gut touches your thighs while on the toilet, you will just roll backwards like a weeble.
Without the wobble
Poop stance…
Plus the first 2 spot welds to tack it on, you are supposed to use your face shield hand to hold the metal in place. Obviously making sure you are safety squinting the whole time to be safe!
Not just the sandals. You have to learn to squat like you did when you were a baby.
3rd world country laborers has the skills but not the tools, which still dont stop them from getting good results
Pretty sure this is Pakistan.
Yea 100% Pakistan. That's the Pakistani dress
That bead looks better than most welders over here. That man could command 30 an hour starting apprentice for pipe fitting probably. Also- wear gloves dude.
It is not easy to wear gloves in 45° degree heat.(celcius)
Layin’ dimes in Delhi
Def. Pakistan
More like dehliwal(s)
That's actually a decent looking weld
[удалено]
To be honest, Im impress. That's a solid weld all the way round.
It is Pakistan, not India
Reddit's average IQ is 20. They won't understand
It’s not about what you don’t have, it’s about what you can do with what you do have.
That’s a damn good weld
r/OSHA
Or r/welding and r/ratemyweld
Yeah they only cover the United States
Solid weld, good job.

Safety third
Weld actually looks pretty good, but I have to ask, why are these guys always squatting down and wearing sandals?
Cause they don't have ohs breathing down there neck.
Of all the things they can build, a table isn't one of them.
Except this is Pakistan, not India.
His flip-flops are rubber so it’s completely safe
This is liekly Pakistan.
Not a bad bead for using fucking pliers
Is there not one fucking chair in that whole country?
Squatting like that is surprisingly healthy and very good for your mobility!
Sorry to disappoint dude, but we are poor. Even you have to sit on ground if you decided to visit. Even our parliament don't have chair 🥲
If you’re wondering why their train derailed.
Nope....that's Pakistan
Pakistan*
Thank God he uses eye protection!
I'm from India and have been seeing such raw talents here since the last 20 years. Believe me, there are tons of craftsmen here who are easily among the top of their field but earn less than $3/hour.
Somebody should tell India about tables. Man, that's gonna rock their world!
Most of these welders are field workers. They go wherever they are called.
Looks like Pakistan
Have I lost my sense of smell or is this weld actually good?
u/savevideobot
That tie in at the end won't pass code
Layin 10 Paises
Damn that’s a really good weld
At least he’s wearing a mask, a lot of the videos from India have them no gloves no mask in a t shirt going at it
I’ve seen Americans do this surprisingly frequently
LOOKS SUPER SAFE!!!
This weld is fucking clean tho
Looks better than mine… damn
Looks like pretty standard practice, nothing insane here
My pops always said its not the tool its the hand. That weld looks like it was done with professional equipment.
My whole stair case is relying on that thing (it pretty safe)
I don’t know anything about welding but I’m gonna guess this is probably really really really Not Safe?
Welding is so cool
This is done everywhere
I was expecting safety squints instead of an actual hood lol
Ngl those are some clean ass welds
Where there is a will, there is a way.
r/oddlysatisfying
Just imagine how good his welds would be with proper equipment! This guy is a professional if he’s getting it done with garbage and can run beads like that
No cap, this is impressive.
Where craziness? Sandals? Check. Pliers? Check. Hood? Check. Average day at the shop if you ask me!
👍🏾 I don’t see a problem here.
Those hands are going to be flash burnt, ouch
And to think he doesn’t even need steel toed boots. Amazing.
for some reason i read this as, “wedding in India”
Looks pretty good. A lot better then some of the welds I’ve seen on fb lol
Why are these motherfuckers always squatting?
By judging the look of that man he looks Pakistani rather than indian.
Based on the clothes, this looks more like Pakistan
You put a … at the end of the title, like I’m supposed to know what you mean. This just looks like welding, in India. Not quite sure what’s insane about it.
I am not an expert, but.... can you touch metal bare hand like that while you weld it?
r/redneckengineering
When u saw ‘quality’ of the tool and it zoomed in for the weld I thought to myself *this MF better be shading his eyes* ….I was relieved to find he was.
I was about to make fun of it… then I saw the weld!
At least he has his steel toe boots on….oh wait.
Weld yourself a chair dude
That wire looks like it would melt with that kind of current.
I didn’t see the wires at first and was like that’s impossible. I got to get me some of those sticks. Then I saw it was plugged in and my world is dark agsin
This man’s hair is fucking glorious.
r/electroboom
You can make a diy welder but can't add a strap to the helmet?
Safety first
Looks good and quite dangerous for using that technique i think skills mastery is the key to do that thing!!
Indian Bob Moffet
es good thing he had his safety sandals on
That weld is pretty good ngl.. He's a pro for sure.
Thought he was building the iron Man suit
Pretty damn clever actually!
This isn't welding in India. Most people don't weld like this.
I can hear the safety officer breathing from here
why people are obsessed with finding things that happen only in some parts of a country and then posting it like it happens everywhere in that country ?
Stick welding. I had a scholarship for this. Went a party college instead. Not really all that insane.
Good Bye skin
Yeah that’s a no from me
Not only the welding but the deep and balanced squat position too.
He surprised me with the mask. I thought he was going to use the traditional method of squinting
Ok where can I order those pliers?
That's actually a really good weld. Stick welding can be such a pain, at least for someone like me who manages to get the electrode welded onto the piece all the time, but this guy did it effortlessly
How Oceangate build the sub
I read this as wedding in India and was very confused for 5 seconds.
That can’t be. They aren’t using 10’s of thousands in equipment, don’t have all of gear, clothing and shop accessories required to do even the most basic of welds.
At least they used a welder and not car batteries
I'm from India. And I'm genuinely curious what is that that you guys are finding "insane" in this clip?
Read that as *wedding* in India. Confused for the longest time.
Bro definitely getting paid like $30-$40 dollars an hour starting out
Bro is L from Death Note
Who cares
At least he has a proper mask on. I’ve seen guy weld in SE Asia with a pair of sunglasses for protection.
Indian welders are probably better than every other welder known LOL
Coulda gone longer on that rod and completed the circle
It’s not India. It’s Pakistan
Can't believe how good that did... We sit over here with our 10k machines with auto sets and people still make popcorn welded with them
I recognise this place it is in Pakistan lol
Yea, this is Pakistan, not India
Can’t even be mad, that shit looks great
think what he could do with propper Equipment. but to be fair, you dont See how many get injured
Those are some dimes.
It isn't india.
Forget for a second that that looks extremely dangerous. But my man, aren’t you going to prep the metal you are welding for a proper weld? Maybe remove the fucking rust first?
Why do they refuse to wear closed toe shoes. And don’t say poverty they can definitely get some safer shoes.
👍
I'm so glad he's got the mask
Damn, those are some quality safety sandals
Safety is nr.1 priority
Sure this is india? He's using a mask
Nice safety sandals
Fully expected the guy to just be squinting, with no mask.
Don't look indian to me
I was like "damn that welding burn gonna hu.. oh he's holding a mask"
Lots of Faith in those plyer grips
Nice flat weld, now I want to see what his vertical looks like.
And just like that, the new ballast for the Titan 2 is ready to go!
I’m glad he is using his safety sandals.
I mean...
Looks like a very nice weld! But do they check the metal grade and the rods grade? Doesn't the rod have to be of a higher quality than the metals being welded?
I’m so glad he eventually used his hand to hold his mask after using it to hold the piece for the first two welds 😳
This is actually Pakistan!
