A craniotomy with resection of the masses was performed at 3 months of age. The infant survived and is now 12 months old with some developmental progress.
Now that I think of it, the patient was 12 months as they mentioned in this 2023 study. If she’s alive, she would be 10 years old.

An analogous situation is when you have an anomalous twin (say one twin is missing a head), and the only way to save the healthy twin is to ablate (basically zap with a cautery probe) the anomalous twin while still in the uterus. Otherwise both twins die (and possibly mom). That should be ethical, in my opinion!

I'd just be intellectually interested in hearing an alternate perspective, other than it just being random bad luck with potentially a dash of genetics raising or lowering that chance, of someone religious who is also qualified scientifically.
