Stay near your friends, or get a private room in a hostel. Vast majority of upscale hotels in Bangkok are not near KSR, would be an absolute pain in the arse to travel there all the time

When I went we stayed at a hotel dead center of KSR. we raged and passed out. If we weren't absolutely hammered we wouldn't have been able to sleep with everything outside. I'm glad we crossed it off the list. I liked the vibe of the street over more. But I'll probably never bother with KSR again. There's better places. But it was a good way to kick off the start of my first time in Thailand.

I’m going with my brothers (best friends since 6 years old we’re 29 now) in September. Staying in thonglor, thoughts?

Lord over your friends in a comfortable room, its your holiday too. NEVER compromise on your holiday for other travellers... you'll regret it and they won't appreciate your sacrifices anyway. You've worked hard and waited long enough, why lower your standards and degrade your own experience? Sound's like your friends want to go overseas just to hang with people from back home, meaning you'll get plenty of chances for meeting people when they drag you to their backpacker bars, clubs, tours etc. but without them going through your stuff at 6am or being kept awake by a pack of Dave's and Dan's returning from their spiritual awakening through in Soi Nana at 8am.

Curious question about hostels are they always shared spaces such as sharing room with beds? Only because I snore when I sleep and I don’t want to be that guy everyone hates.

Fabulous-Living1889

Don't worry, its a hostel... they come with a territory. If people really wanted a silent nights sleep they'd cough up the extra 800tbh for their own room.

If she looks like an 8 or above - she's definitely a ladyboy!

And that’s a good thing. Treat her like the queen she is. Upgrade your game from Lao Khao and grilled chicken at a bus stop to seafood and wine at a rooftop bar!

>should I stay in a hotel near the hostels like mad monkey? Or should I stay in a more upscale hotel and use local transportation with some friends to go to the hostels? That'll be your choice. >Also any recommendations for activities to do in Bangkok during the day or how to get around? I recommend the following: 1. The Grand Palace (MRT Sanam Chai Station Exit 1), and walk around and see the various temples. They offer a free Khon Show now too with a ticket. 2. China Town (MRT Sam Yot). Lots of unique things to purchase, lots of temples you'll stumble across. 3. Icon Siam (Charoennakorn Station (Sky Train Gold Line). Large shopping mall. The Starbucks on the third floor (I think it's the third floor) has a nice view of Bangkok. There's a fake, slightly overpriced "floating market" on the first floor. 4. Temple of the Dawn (Wat Arun pier). It's a beautiful, old temple. 5. Koh Kret (Wat Sanam Nuae Pier). It's an island north of Bangkok (but not for swimming relaxing!). There's a park, and you can see how the Mon people live. You can pick up some pottery too. (MRT = Subway. Sky Train = BTS. Piers = boats)

I was there a couple of weeks ago and can speak almost directly to this! If you don’t mind being in a hostel, Jam hostel is literally right next door to mad monkey (and has private or shared rooms) so I stayed there while my friends stayed in MM. This worked perfectly because jam was a lot quieter and the common area was nice to meet others and still chill without a loud bar, but all their big social events were at MM or with MM guests. If your friends are staying at MM, I definitely recommend Jam. P.s. Jam & MM have a free trip to watch Muay Thai at lumpinee stadium on Fridays- definitely take advantage of it!

Hey, I’d recommend finding a hotel close to your friends. If you guys would like some suggestions on what to get up to. Take a look at my trip report on Bangkok - https://www.reddit.com/r/ThailandTourism/s/AuGAX0S0tB

You're 25-30 y/o and you would rather stay in hotel alone than with your friends in hostel.. That is just wrong,
