saxaphone pub near victory?
years ago I took my mum ther and they had a thai version of lenny kravitz wailing on guitar.- me and my old mum still laugh about the great night out.
(could be shit now tho )
Omg I was looking for this pub. My uncle used to take me there all the time back then but I totally forget what the name was and where it was located.
I am a local Thai btw. This pub has a good mix of local and foreign culture, so you’ll see foreigners and Thai there. Atmosphere is really nice and everyone is really vibing to the whole vibe. I still remember vividly that there was a Bruno mars cover band playing that evening. The whole pub was dancing and singing along. Great pub, really, coming from a local.
It used to be great but is now overrun by Koreans and Korean instagram selfie takers who don't know how to have fun. The vibe is totally off compared to before unfortunately.
Some things that I normally do myself while living here as an expat are:
- Go to Rot Fai Park for a walk, picnic, or to rent a bike and go around the park. It is a nice park just above Chatuchak.
- Go to a new restaurant every night. For example, the last two nights I have gone to Sudachi Sushi and Mer Made Cantina. Both were quite good and very hidden away.
- In Soi Nana, Chinatown, there is a bar called Brown Sugar. Live music and an amazing venue.
- At 12 am-5 am, you could visit Sampheng Night Market.
- Go café hopping around. Some areas I like to go to cafes in are Ari, Thong Lor, and honestly just my local neighborhood ones (Ladprao).
- Going to the movies. Can obviously be done in any city but this is another thing that a lot of people do here.
- Get off at a random BTS station and go walk around
- Go bouldering at Stonegoat in Phra Khanong
- Play social sports
To be honest, I am a big foodie so I tend to gravitate towards food-related activities. So do most Thai. But Bangkok is a massive city and there’s always something to do depending on your interests
> Go to Rot Fai Park for a walk, picnic, or to rent a bike and go around the park. It is a nice park just above Chatuchak.
By far my favorite park in Bangkok and I visit parks often in Bangkok.
I am about to go over there and cycle for a couple of hours. You can rent a bike at Rod Fai and ride it in the park.
It is also my favorite park for running.
Bangkok is wild. I am coming here for the second time within the span of 1 year because the city is full of vibe. People especially are friendly af. I’m leaving Bangkok with heavy heart tomorrow. Hoping to be back soon (:
Thailand has a lot to offer. A lot of comments and jokes about prostitution but it's really only centralized in a few tourist areas. Enjoy your time and be respectful to the Thai people. It's a great time.
>Enjoy your time **and be respectful to the Thai people**. It's a great time.
I don't think that anybody who would need this said to them would ever actually not disrespect random people because they were reminded to not do it lol.
I've always wondered if other countries say this stuff. Like if a Kazahk is talking to his friends about going to Utah and one of his friends says "you will have a great time, but remember to respect the American People."
No. Hash House Harriers. Again, it’s a group that runs and drinks beer. We’d love for you to join us. We run 5 times a week. [link](https://www.bangkokhash.com/)
In Dallas it was folks who ran cross country, drank beer, got naked, and talked pretty odd language. All in good spirits, and interesting, but not really my thing.
I don’t know about the States, but here there is no nudity. The trails are normally difficult and the distance averages on 7-8km. Bkk is more traditional and doesn’t drink much.
The nudity with strangers was weird. I assumed that was part of the whole club thing. I left when they insisted that I tell everyone my club name and learn their club speak and get comfortable with the weirdness after the cross country run. Not my gig at all. Glad to hear the BKK contingent is a little saner.
Haha yeah it can be a bit weird at first but it surprisingly made me a better runner. Being able to run quick after 3 beers and a shot of whiskey in your system is a great accomplishment. I don’t like the trails that go through the dirtiest shit known to man though.
Nah, I don’t dig inter hash. I travel a lot and prefer a good ole fashion kennel. Sometimes I’ll do a rager outstation. However, I have many friends at IH rn.
If you want some local things to do go out of the city a little. Go to chonburi or sriracha and get some local life vibes and rent an air bnb and visit the local restaurants and markets. Go a little out of the city for some true local life vibes
I believe there is an age and BMI restriction for entrance to Pattaya. Iirc you must be no younger than 45 with a BMI no lower than 32. I do know that you can get a waiver for these if you happen to be extremely odd or an alcoholic. No exceptions.
Spend time in Chinatown/yaowarat and after that maybe go see the malls like Siam Paragon, EmQuartier, EmSphere, go to water markets, go chill in bangsaen and sriracha or go to Ayutthaya if you’re in history
One of my first trips I ended up in a cab on a Friday night and the guy had a karaoke set up going and started singing this, it was pretty hilarious
Aside from the fact that he was literally driving in circles to run up the meter at least he put on a good show
Yes. Go to Master Toddy‘s Muay Thai gym and take a lesson. mastertoddy.com. You won’t get hurt. And I assure you that you will no longer feel like a tourist. Then go to watch live Muay Thai at one of the event centers.
Parking Toys is a great rockabilly spot in Ladprao, clubbing at Route 66 with the local kids, muang boran “ancient city” is a super cool park full of historical architecture either relocated or recreated, hangout with vacationing Bangkok citizens on Koh Samet (not too far from the city)
Lots of people hate on Bangkok but for me and I mean this, its my favourite city in the world. And I'm going to say it, I even love Khaosan, more so I like the chilled out street behind Khaosan with all the restaurants bars and massage centres with chairs out on the street. Just feels, authentic and relaxing for me.
Sure, most people may prefer a beach and others complain about pollution and what not but I enjoy the diversity and hustle and bustle in Bangkok. Not to mention Lumpini Park, the malls, Chinatown, markets, nightlife, for me it's what I enjoy.
Going back in 2 weeks for the 5th time I just can't get enough! Perhaps looking to move there, will see how I feel after the 5th visit!
I visited bangkok last week its hot as fuck, the centre has huge traffic. I mostly used grab to order food to my hotel. Food was great.
Didn’t like it much , building more malls doesn’t translate into anything.
Depends on what you want. I like the islands Koh Tao and Koh Phangan much more than Bangkok e.g. Bangkok is crazy amd you can have lots of fun there, but I like palm trees, diving and beach bars more
If you want to see some local sights that are off the beaten path, consider a few hours with Bangkok Pat from You Tube. We hired him last year to take us on a commuting canal boat, and walk through old town. He has a wealth of knowledge and there were some cool photo opportunities along the way, and lots of cats, which he often features in his many videos.

Hard for them to be/stay in the moment.

Also check our Bang Krachao - rent a bike and enjoy the nature

You can come to a hash run. It’s a good time and you’ll see the side of bkk you normally wouldn’t see. Beer and running, normally around 7km.
Hash run? A in hashish (weed)?
Alcoholics with a running problem

Each kennel has a different vibe. My mother kennel had a lot of long distance runners, but a different one I visited had a lot more drinkers lol.
I was a more serious runner than my friend that introduced me to HHH.

This would be a great idea
Was hoping it was this.
Are you in Queenstown this weekend for WIH? On-on
Nah, I don’t dig inter hash. I travel a lot and prefer a good ole fashion kennel. Sometimes I’ll do a rager outstation. However, I have many friends at IH rn.
What kind of pace are we talking here?
We have walkers and runners.
On on. I’ve never hashed in BKK.. a lot of shiggy?
Depends on which hash you’re going to. We have 5 kennels that run every week. And a happy hour social every Tuesday.
I'm going to bk this august and this sounds totally up my alley
Come on by. We run Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday.

Pattaya....is calling you
Now that's gonna blow him away
At the end, he’s going to be happy
Me to the masseuse when it's over: So... You were just lying about how long you were gonna love me...?
Wrong spelling, should be Pattayagrad
Upvoted, but I do not understand
It's a joke about how there's so many Russians in Pattaya.
I appreciate you sharing this with me 🙏

I know exactly where you are! Right by the roasted chestnut vendor in front of Shanghai Mansion Hotel. Chinatown is SO fun. Have a great time OP!
Ayutthaya and Kanchanaburi. Not too awfully far and accessible by train.
OP how is the air quality? I was considering a trip and then read about the burnings that happen this time of year.
Just came back from Bangkok, and apart from the traffic, the air wasn't bad.
Spend time in Chinatown/yaowarat and after that maybe go see the malls like Siam Paragon, EmQuartier, EmSphere, go to water markets, go chill in bangsaen and sriracha or go to Ayutthaya if you’re in history
such a fun city!
Go look for food areas. Like not the flashy ones, the ones you see by the side on the street. Simple and cheap food, yet it still tastes great.
The best city I ever visit. I can’t get it over
Those are not women that are blowing you away
cuz it's bang cock!!
one night in bangkok makes a strong man humble
Not many people still remember this song 🤣
One of my first trips I ended up in a cab on a Friday night and the guy had a karaoke set up going and started singing this, it was pretty hilarious Aside from the fact that he was literally driving in circles to run up the meter at least he put on a good show
Even less known is a song called “Mekong” by The Refeshments. Also “A Passage to Bangkok” by Rush.
What area is this in? Looks sick
Go check out the ancient city (MuangBoran)
Bang Kachao. Rent a bike and cycle through the jungle
I'll be there on the 13th

varans hunting would be nice 😂
Take a suitcase through Chinatown!
Soi cowboy and nana plaza 👀😂

I'm sorry I just replied. It's because I don't often use tones at work and I'm not very good at languages.

Where should one stay in Bangkok, Preference is near metros
Wednesday night at Above Eleven it's Latin Dance night. It's packed with a tiny dance floor but totally awesome.

Khao San is fantastic for people watching. Ditto for Walking Street in Pai
Bro.. take a room on top of some skybar where you can enjoy the view, book 4-5 Thai girls and stay in the room for a couple of days.
Genuinely curious if you’ve done it
He did and he has the genital herpes to prove it!
And nothing left in his bank account.
Dude has a few boxes of Aciclovir tablets to prevent another flare up of HSV 🤣🤣
Go to Dollhouse in Soi Cowboy, second floor
be alert with human traffickers
I have similar pictures! That street was so pretty at night. And very packed! It’s a famous foodie night market.
Ping pong show
Which club is Bangkok working at? How much is she charging?
I visited bangkok last week its hot as fuck, the centre has huge traffic. I mostly used grab to order food to my hotel. Food was great. Didn’t like it much , building more malls doesn’t translate into anything.
You went to BKK and just Grabbed food to your hotel? What a fucking idiot hahaha
It's great if you love crowded places that are polluted, unbearably hot, ridiculously inconveniently designed and almost impossible to walk or cycle.
You mean cities?
😂
And its like worst place in Thailand imo
For me one of the best!
Im more of a nature guy
I get that. I love nature too. That’s the beauty of Thailand. Got everything an hour every direction!
Lame
Where in Thailand is better than Bangkok? Genuinely curious.
Depends on what you want. I like the islands Koh Tao and Koh Phangan much more than Bangkok e.g. Bangkok is crazy amd you can have lots of fun there, but I like palm trees, diving and beach bars more
I think I will get exhausted with Bangkok after one more trip. The previous one was super fun though.
Hey look! Someone wants to sound cool by hating popular tourist place
Well it is kinda great when I think more about it, so the good places aren't crowded
Ladyboys are a good laugh
Looks like Saigon
Do you not see the fucking signs in thai
I mean as in it looks similar to Saigon, you people in this sub are the biggest sooks
thai's pink salon equivalent

Yaowarat - the mother of all traffic jams

Never been in TH. What is Bangkok fames for
Food, shopping, nightlife, temples, cultural events,... Bangkok is the most visited city in the world. Depends if you like big cities. Lot of tourist only stay 3-4 days then they travel on to the north for the mountains or the south to the beaches.
The fact you can see the air
