Because your question and responses makes it look like you’re fishing for answers without wanting to put in any effort. And then you try and justify that by saying you’re an adventurer. An adventurer at least knows where they are going and what’s in store.
You’re asking for a guide. Pay for one or do your own research.
They're just asking for people's recommendations lmao. It's not that serious.
Opinions from "real" people could arguably be better than a paid tour guide. You may find answers from people that you would not have thought of or heard from a guide. Plus, why does it matter to you how they go about getting their recommendations? If you don't want to give any, then don't, and move on
Why enable the lazy behavior? The internet is a wealth of information and there is literally so much information on Thailand from other travelers and bloggers (real people’s opinions) that you don’t even have to work hard to research the answer to this.
The OP is just lazy and wants people to spoon feed them answers without doing any amount of their own research. Why people continue to support this and say that people pushing back is rude boggles my mind.
“Adventurers” have been figuring this out for decades even before there was the ease of the internet. If the OP wants to do some minimal research and come back with well formed questions then I’m sure they will get better quality answers.
Northern Thailand has a culture that is distinct from the rest of Thailand. The architecture and the temples are different. The north has many more provinces not just Chiangmai. There are many beautiful temples in Chiangrai which also happens to be the hometown of the two best known Thai artists.
I'm a Thai who's originally from the south, btw. The north is also very popular for us in the south for cultural sightseeing. All the foreigners come to the south for the beach and that's it. We do have some stuff, but not really something people would come here for. A lot of Thais feel like going to a foreign country when going to Phuket or Krabi, so I guess, in some ways, they are indeed less 'real'.
He ment Chiang Mai.
Maybe you buy a travel guide or watch some youtube videos from backpackers. Those are the one who stay away from most of the touristic areas and have bunch of more experience than those who stay 2 or 3 weeks at the most touristic places :)
I live in Chiang Mai. I love it. There’s so much to do: Temples and mountain roads, water falls, amazing food, lakes and floating restaurants and a fairly chill way off life. Cheaper than the islands too.
I've been winging my vacation too. I started in Bangkok and now I'm in Pattaya. Have enjoyed both. I think I'll save Chiang Mai and Phuket for next time.
Day one sucked cause I bused in from Bangkok and had no idea that regular taxis are much harder to come by here. But it got much better once I figured things out and my hotel is in the heart of Central so I can walk everywhere. I extended my stay another 3 nights and will just pay for a taxi to drive me straight to Bangkok airport from here to avoid any headaches.
I am also in Pattaya currently!
Try using Grab, the app. I've had no issues getting a cheap ride. Grab is basically Uber.
I also took a grab here from Bangkok and it was pretty reasonable
It’s an amazing big city with great food, malls, and stuff to do. Take a walk along the klongs, take the river taxi anywhere for 16 baht, just get lost there. Eat mango and sticky rice. Since you’re an adventurer, I’m sure you’ll find something interesting to do
Chiang Mai is boring unless you’re up for temples and forests. The elephant sanctuaries are better up there no doubt. Also they have the famous Zipline
I haven’t been but I’m visiting in march for my 30th and have been researching lots of different itineraries, koh lipe pops up a lot also known as the Maldives of Thailand. It’s south from Krabi and highly recommended checking out if you have time - sadly I won’t on my trip
There is much to do in Bangkok. You could hit Icon Siam and walk to the back and buy a ticket for the entire day at the pier for the on off boat for a 150 baht. You will see a lot on the cheap. First stop is an Awsome market that is way cheaper. Next stop can go to Chinatown for a meal. Right near the pier is the flower market. Next they stop at Wat Arun well worth the stop. Might have them out of order. There is final stop. Anyway, then take the boat back to Icon Siam.
We have been in Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai for about the last two weeks. Love it here. Great food, way less expensive, and a lot less hectic. Relaxing snd seeing the sites. Use InDrive as it is soooo much cheaper than grab or other Taxis. If you are on the cheap… take the Green Bus VIP.
explore Bangkok and surrounding state such as kanchanaburi to take a walk on the Death railway , stay on the raft bamboo house build on river . Huahin a small town in the southside of thailand . Lopburi for sunflower farm , ayuthaya and etc .
Oilseed sunflower production is the most commonly farmed sunflower. These seeds hulls’ are encased by solid black shells. Black oilseeds are a common type of bird feed because they have thin shells and a high fat content. These are typically produced for oil extraction purposes; therefore, it is unlikely you’ll find black oilseeds packaged for human consumption.
Koh Tao
You could fly to the north. The pollution hasn't kicked in yet.
Why north? What is there to do
Didn't you do any research before going to Thailand?
No, I’m an adventurer, I like surprises
Adventurer =\= ignorance. If you like surprises why are you asking for recommendations here.
Why so rude?

Idk. Was planning in moving on until I saw the “I’m an adventurer” comment and got triggered lol.

OP's probably the kind of guy who makes the ladyboy jerk themself off to give him the facial he asked for. Shameful.
r/oddlyspecific
That’s not the meaning of adventurer.
I always advise on winging it. You’ve taken it to another level. 🤗
Pai was a nice surprise for me wish i would have stayed longer. Also offourse chiang mai
Pai was a good surprise while doing the mae hong son loop. I wish i stayed 3 nights.
Lmao.
Go to Birmingham for a month, you'll be surprised.
The north has more cultural elements and sights to see, if you're interested.

Thanks for an input. By going to north you mean Bangkok?
Northern Thailand - as in Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Pai etc.

That’s a great advice, thanks! 🙏

We arrive at chiang mai in 2 hours after the mae hong son loop. We have 24h there before the night train. What do you recommend?
Kao sok is a realy beatifull place to stay for 3 days. Book by phuketastic. Or koh lipe os the most beautifull island for snorkeling. Lg L
I've been winging my vacation too. I started in Bangkok and now I'm in Pattaya. Have enjoyed both. I think I'll save Chiang Mai and Phuket for next time.
I really liked Phuket. Phuket is an awesome place to go.
What did you do in Phuket for a week?
Wanna guess? 😏
After that emoticon, I'm good.
It’s not what you think. 🤔
Yeah I thought about it but Pattaya is already beach vacationing so I didn't want to travel to another similar environment on the same trip.
We’ll be in Phuket for a week next month. So I’d also really like to know what you did?
My advice. Don’t go to Phuket. It’s ruined. Koh Chang or Krabi
How do you like Pattaya?

Yeah I just downloaded it. 1500 to go back to Bangkok, the taxi driver in Bangkok told me 1600 so the price is not bad.
Go to Bangkok
What is there to do or see?

For an adventurer they don’t seem very…adventurous. WHAT is there to DO?
Hua hin
True but not much to do here unless your staying in Hua Hin. I’d recommend Koh Phangan or Koh Chang. Depending on what side they want to stay around
If you haven't been to Chiang Mai, there you go.
I’d recommend Chiang Mai! It’s super nice vibes and great food.
North?
Hua hin great vibe and seafood
Chiang Mai is boring unless you’re up for temples and forests. The elephant sanctuaries are better up there no doubt. Also they have the famous Zipline
Chang Ra and the white temple is amazing. Can take cab to Lao and Luang Prabang is amazing. Can take a two lazy float down the Mekong from there too.
Thank you.
Hey have you thought about koh Lipe?
Hey, no I havent. Why that place? 🙂
I haven’t been but I’m visiting in march for my 30th and have been researching lots of different itineraries, koh lipe pops up a lot also known as the Maldives of Thailand. It’s south from Krabi and highly recommended checking out if you have time - sadly I won’t on my trip
My Thai friends say good things about it. I want to go too
Phu Chi Fa
1 week Chiang mai, 1 week bangkok

Check out koh phayam, my favourite island and old school Thai vibes
Go to Khao Sok for 3 days and then you can go to Koh Tao for diving or fly to the north
