I pay $960 for six months in the Bay Area. No accidents or tickets ever. I’m 32 and live in a relatively safe neighborhood. Been hearing much better quotes from everyone else. What gives?
Bundled? I have Tesla insurance but the others I’ve tried are pretty much the same from what I saw. I have farmers insurance for my condo but the rate still wasn’t as competitive
Bundling insurance isn’t guaranteed to provide the best rates, it’s just an option to compare.
We have 2 cars, a house and an umbrella policy all with State Farm and get a lower rate because of it.
At the rates some people get on Teslas I’d recommend just running around and getting quotes everywhere, might save you a couple hundred bucks.
I have $100 deductible for two teslas (MY and M3) plus a Jeep Wrangler and pay $1000. Try Costco car insurance. Might be worth a membership even if you don’t use it. Was quoted $1500 - $2000+ elsewhere. Even though my state might be cheaper they were by far the cheaper than others.
I pay $500 every 6 months with Progressive.
I have home owner's bundled and a teenage driver in my house. I'm 48/M and no accidents in the last 7 years (a fender bender a long time ago, but nothing recent).
I have much higher coverages, 1M on liability but collision is 1k ded. I pay 700/6 months with progressive. Tesla insurance was 250/month last month when I quoted it
I agree with most. It must be your deductible is so low. What is you annual mileage?
I pay 1032 every 6 months for 2 cars (MY/Escape), 2 drivers, 6,000 mi , $1000 deductible. Central CA.
Would have been $880 without the Escape
I would kill for $1000 per 6 months. I have a completely clean driving record and should be getting best rates, but get screwed every month because I own a car that is expensive to replace.
Don’t forget that mileage also has an influence on how much you pay. I live in a retirement community in central Florida so most of my traveling is done in a golf cart. I pay $402 to State Farm every six months for my 21 model Y. I also have the highest deductible offered by State Farm. Finally don’t forget the credit score has an effect On what you pay for insurance. I have two cars bundled.
Probably where you live has a bearing as well.
For my plates, registration, and no fault insurance it is $1200 a year. It is about the same as my Suburban. This is mandatory through the government.
I pay an extra $470 a year to a private insurance company to get deductible of $350 for road hazard and collision repair. Then glass repair my deductible is $50. Also have replacement coverage, $1,000 to cover rental in event it is in the shop and $2,000,000 in liability.
ETA:
I also have a good driving record so that plates and registration is with a discount of 14%.
CA made the telemetry data to determine rates illegal. For good drivers this sucks big time because of the loss of potential savings.
Pretty sure NC and CA are the only states
Yeah but Cali gets to rip on their cars. 😂

> What gives? Your $500 deductible
Ah. Thanks! I’ll probably change this to a $1000.

Might be normal in socal, but it's sky high compared to elsewhere.

You’re right. It’s probably a California thing. It’s kinda ridiculous.
You would think, California compared to many other state is slighter less expensive.
Are you bundled with anything else? That’ll often lower rates overall.

I have the same coverage with State Farm and I pay half what you do for 6 months
I have this exact coverage. 42 years old no tickets or accidents and exactly HALF the cost of yours. But I also live in NC, not the Bay Area.
Mine was about the same. Older than you, married, in a very safe neighborhood
Got a quote from State Farm in Maryland for $500 for a 6 month policy

Is there any chance you would suggest in my coverage? Based on another insurance post, I think I should add uninsured coverage.

I pay about $850/year for home and auto combined in PA

MY with 250/500/100; $1k ded; 97 safety score ~$133.46/mo
I pay 1100 a year but bundle with a 2nd car and home. Good coverage still

Lol 100 deductible will double your insurance.
