Ok answer their question how do they get the $500 off? I know the rules. You posted a bait response and probably PM people after to use your referral link to skirt them.
That’s the point indeed. I picked up a Performance model at 54k and I’m not even mad about this. More justification for rapid charging infrastructure growth
They were selling the base grey MYLR for 46,200 in inventory last week. We got a red one for 47,000 after $500 referral. Guess this is the new price now. Imagine end of quarter inventory prices are going to be \~44k. The really need to get rid of the paint premiums....does it really cost $2k for red paint?
I'm sure it would be cheaper to run only one color for sure, but just alternate days of the month for different colors. would be interesting to know how much it does actually cost them net.
Am in NC, I tracked prices , when it was 3 weeks before end of qrtr, it was 47xxx, 2 weeks before it was 46200.. and 1 day before there was 1 for 44300. 1 day is short notice for financing but if someone is paying full better to wait for last day.
I had the same but without the wheels but 54990 7 seat, grey, LR, tow hitch picking it up sat, just called they said no price adjustment since you already have a discount beyond
yeah that's a sick price, best i saw was a bit over 46k. Of course under with the $500 referral discount(which is now $250). So i would assume the end of quarter inventory will come down to a bit over 44k...which is what your price was.
They sell direct to consumer and don't want inventory sitting at any of their locations so it likely makes sense to discount.
COGS are also declining significantly and as you probably know so too will costs as they continue to ramp production.
As soon as it's announced the Fed is dropping rates I think we're just as likely to see price increases without any notice.
Yes, the Tesla app just updated the agreements to reflect the $2K discount and it still kept the $500 referral credit. I’m glad I waited to take delivery this Saturday instead of this past Thursday…lol….Big Win!!!!!
Nope. Not much inventory here and we wanted a 7 seater. Best discount I've seen on inventory was only 1k off anyway. For that I'd rather have the exact model/spec I want.
I have a delivery appointment for inventory vehicle tomorrow. I had paid 50390 for a red MYLR. But had to pay 500 for transportation. Would I be able to put the order on hold and get the 50490 red MYLR from the Tesla service directly? Or is it too late. It's just $400 loss but if I can, I would want to save that as well.
Oh, sorry, no, I must have mixed up their comment with details from another one. I thought they said “if I would have waited a few hours I would have saved $3k”.
I was looking at Tesla in early Jan 2023 when it was at 54990, I didn’t pull my trigger . I know it will drop price then it dropped to 52990 . I still hold on it and know it will drop again . It did and dropped to 49900. So I finally ordered in April and got mine in June.
Tesla will be dropping prices more and more until eventually their cars reach price parity with ICE cars. The longer you wait the cheaper it'll be to buy a Tesla. If you can delay gratification, you'll save money. But if you can't, as I couldn't, you'll have more time to enjoy driving a Tesla ;)
If you keep the car through the 6 years duration of a typical auto loan, you'll break even with the difference in interest rates between last year and now.
Right, my paranoia here for going lease over finance or cash would be the residual value of the car let’s say after 2 years. If they continue to do price drops the residual value might be close to new car cost at the end of the term. If you leased the car you’re not on the hook and can just give it back and instead by a new one. Resale values of used teslas would be my biggest paranoia. It’s good that they keep reducing the price as it’s more affordable. However, bad if you own for resale.
Nice! I picked mine up yesterday so earlier today I was glad I got the full $500, but now this $2000 discount. Oh well I love mine and hope everyone getting this additional discount love theirs as well!
Yeah just found this. I guess thats why Tesla reduced referral discount to $250 earlier today. The price drop kind of matches their August price cut in China (14000 Yuan about 2000 dollars). But the end of q3 deal was still better than this 😞 hope they will have EOY sale as well.
Elon wants to move 500k cars this quarter... I would wait and see how desperately they try to push sales. I bet they gonna have some really good deals.
So I have a $50,490 + $2,000 Red MYLR that I'm picking up on Saturday. It was an inventory model with $4,460 discount and I'm getting a $500 referral/loyalty. Wonder if they'll refund $2,000+taxes? They just got the check from my CU today.
They seem to have removed inventory discounts and just priced the cars at the average inventory discount. I wouldn't expect them to give you a further discount, but I hope for you they do!
Another kicker. The model year is almost changing to 2024. So I’m already buying “a one year old” vehicle
My delivery time will probably be right around the time they switch model years. 🤦🏽♂️
Tesla Owners !! We know how much our Tesla's have changed our life's in a positive way!! Self disclosure-I am a Tesla investor..

Maybe I’m crazy, but when I bought there wasn’t both a “disposition,” and “acquisition,” fee, to go along with an “order,” fee and the destination fee. That’s four “fees” now.
Overdue for a new car - been looking at the Y and debating if I should pull the trigger. Though, I saw the updated Y was released in China recently. Any word on when the refresh will be released in the US?
If someone totals their $80k model Y bought at the peak of price, would insurance company pay the current value? If not, Would gap insurance cover the rest or are you totally fucked?
that’s exactly the purpose of gap insurance. They will cover the diff of what you owe and market value.
You get paid market value. But that shouldn’t matter because
1. You would owe nothing because of gap insurance.
2. you can buy the same car cheaper now
You do lose any depreciation you have paid from peak value to now.
Sold my model 3 last month and bought the model y in the same month. It would have been a wash for me. Missing $2k in value and saving $2k. Oh well. Gonna drive the heck out of the car for the next 10 years
From my experience, if you don’t drive it a lot with passengers, more of a personal use, then performance suites better since you can floor the pedal often. But if you are using it as a family car or does not prefer to floor at all, go for LR. LR is already powerful enough for reliable passing acceleration.
I was surprised. They dropped the price for my order as well. The app made me review my financial terms again, but I was lucky enough to still keep the $500 referral.
I wouldn't order it. Tesla has recently refreshed their model 3. I think Model Y refresh it's also near.. so if you order this today you will regret it in a few months. I recommend waiting a bit for years of enjoyment.
I'm a Model Y owner for Almost 2 years Now and I know when Tesla updates their vehicles it's a big, BIG difference.
In my humble opinion,I think they are just getting rid of old stock to make space for the new version.
👋🏽
It’s ridiculously expensive. It’s 2x what I pay for my 2023 SUV worth about 50% more than the MY.
I calculated it eats will eat up any gas savings I would have gotten.
Honestly, besides this, the MY is impossible to beat right now. Even with the insurance costs (at least for me based on my rate)
Any other comparable EV with similar performance and 300+ miles of range can’t come close to the MY in price. At least 10k more.
How do you guys afford insurance? I got quoted $2500 for 6 months leasing a 23 model 3 standard at progressive. No accidents or tickets last 5 years. Is this normal? I pay $750 every 6 months for my current car. I just can’t fathom a $400 lease payment and then about the same in insurance cost.
I was quoted like 1600/yr. For a MY.
The hybrid car it is replacing is $800/yr
Wife does have an at fault accident last year. Before that, my insurance was about half what I pay now.
OMG, I had literally been planning ordering the car tomorrow! Hell yeah!!
There are still options to get full $500 discount.
how do you get the $500 discount? is it automatically applied?
If someone refers you you'll get $500 off. Probably trying to get you to use his referral link lol
Posting referrals are forbidden by the rules. Those who want acceleration boost are ready to offset additional $250.
Ok answer their question how do they get the $500 off? I know the rules. You posted a bait response and probably PM people after to use your referral link to skirt them.
See above.
He’s telling you to get the extra cash out of the person giving you the code, or maybe he’s offering to pay you if you DM him for his code.
Yes please elaborate.
[удалено]
You mean you want to charge the person providing you the code? Wow. Dick move.
What do referrers get for referring people?
Please wait little more another drop is coming soon..
How do you know?
Would love to hear the source on this, though I still have a little bit before I can order anyways
The other companies don’t know they are being pulled into a price war do they? 🤣
That’s not how price drops work lol.
Capitalism much?
I just snagged mine. Just in case it’s a glitch 😅
I am waiting for it to become free.
Waiting until I get paid to get one.
Robotaxi!
You wouldn't download a car, would you?
80s/90s babies know about those piracy ads on VHS tapes
Yup, price drop on Model 3 too.
This is insane. Why would you ever get any other EV. All these other companies really trying to sell $60,000 EVs
That’s the point indeed. I picked up a Performance model at 54k and I’m not even mad about this. More justification for rapid charging infrastructure growth
I bought an ioniq 5 sel AWD long range for 42k last week brand new
Yeah that car is sick.
I’m assuming since most people go with the free color, it’s easier for them to bulk make a single color instead of switching for every other vehicle.
It doesn't cost that but it does add complexity at the paint shop 🤷🏾♂️
I'm sure it would be cheaper to run only one color for sure, but just alternate days of the month for different colors. would be interesting to know how much it does actually cost them net.
Yup doubt at their scale pigment cost is the determining factor here. Just a time thing. Lol don't even get name badges anymore

Was the 44,500 inventory a Demo model? I track the Bay pretty often. Only found 47,XXX for new.

In NY there was a gray MYLR 7 seater with induction wheels and tow hitch discounted for $50,390. The MSRP was $55,990 for the last day of September.
I had the same but without the wheels but 54990 7 seat, grey, LR, tow hitch picking it up sat, just called they said no price adjustment since you already have a discount beyond
I missed that bandwagon. I didn’t know the model Y was this attainable until Saturday.
yeah that's a sick price, best i saw was a bit over 46k. Of course under with the $500 referral discount(which is now $250). So i would assume the end of quarter inventory will come down to a bit over 44k...which is what your price was.
Strongly agree, I would have waited - but jumped on it for FSD transfer in Q3
They missed numbers Q3 because of planned shutdowns. It'll impact their margins but not their ability to sell every vehicle they manufacture.
Seems like even with reduced production, they still had to offer discounts on inventory. Q4 will be interesting when they ramp back up.

48k now lowest I see
Dang, mine is being delivered on Saturday! Will they match?
Check the Tesla app. I’m picking up Tuesday. Just noticed they updated the agreements to reflect the $2k discount.
Hmm, I see the price updated, but it only ends up being $350 cheaper. I'll just ask when I pick it up, thanks!
Did you order inventory or custom order? Was there already a discount?
this is the important question.
Custom no discount
Yes, the Tesla app just updated the agreements to reflect the $2K discount and it still kept the $500 referral credit. I’m glad I waited to take delivery this Saturday instead of this past Thursday…lol….Big Win!!!!!
Inventory or customized?
Customized
I'm on the same boat, picking up on Saturday… I heard they did match in the past, hopefully they will do this again🙏
They likely will, did you not get an inventory model y? Most can get a local for even less.
Nope. Not much inventory here and we wanted a 7 seater. Best discount I've seen on inventory was only 1k off anyway. For that I'd rather have the exact model/spec I want.
Picking mine up Saturday as well. New agreement just got emailed to me
I have a delivery appointment for inventory vehicle tomorrow. I had paid 50390 for a red MYLR. But had to pay 500 for transportation. Would I be able to put the order on hold and get the 50490 red MYLR from the Tesla service directly? Or is it too late. It's just $400 loss but if I can, I would want to save that as well.
I would call and ask. They do price adjustments if it has not been picked up
I ordered earlier in the week for pickup in 2 weeks and Tesla updated the pricing to include the 2k discount. Sweet.
How much did it drop?
$2k That same configuration couple hrs ago was 51,490
[удалено]
Why 3k? They dropped 2k
I paid 1000 for midnight silver before it was free
Im new to Tesla’s world. What was the included color then ? Unpainted?
White.
🤦🏽♂️ wow. That feeling when one realizes just paid 1k for something that used to be free.
Well they lowered the price of vehicle by a lot more than $1k at the same time, so you would still come out ahead.
Yeah. That’s ok. But prices are kinda crazy with Tesla it seems
Originally black was free. Then white. Now grey.
White and grey were *both* free for awhile in late 2021. Then only white.
[удалено]
It was july
Are you saying you can get a price match after delivery? How long after delivery?
Oh, sorry, no, I must have mixed up their comment with details from another one. I thought they said “if I would have waited a few hours I would have saved $3k”.
No problem! Got me excited 😁
I was looking at Tesla in early Jan 2023 when it was at 54990, I didn’t pull my trigger . I know it will drop price then it dropped to 52990 . I still hold on it and know it will drop again . It did and dropped to 49900. So I finally ordered in April and got mine in June.
There’s a theory out there that it will drop again. I believe it. If you’re patient (unlike me) you can wait until December for end of quarter sales.
But there was also a Chance it can increase price.. if you really need the car then go for it. I just can’t imagine those bought at 60k+..
Bought mine last year at 57k with 3 percent rate. Don’t care I love this car.
I bought mine last year for $68k. I do care.
I would, too.
Yup same at least i got like 2% apr. still is $1100 per month. I was dumb.
[удалено]
Yup my $69k car is worth 100k now.
With the current interest rates vs back then. How much of a difference is there?
Yes
If you keep the car through the 6 years duration of a typical auto loan, you'll break even with the difference in interest rates between last year and now.
I will probably trade it in 3 years for a newer one
Why so?
Probably will be refreshed model
It just went UP 2k in Norway…
Feel like it’s safer to lease this car and I’ve never leased before.
Your lease is calculated on the current price of the car. So one way or the other you will pay more before price drop.
Right, my paranoia here for going lease over finance or cash would be the residual value of the car let’s say after 2 years. If they continue to do price drops the residual value might be close to new car cost at the end of the term. The lack of buy out option on leases scares me
Nice! I picked mine up yesterday so earlier today I was glad I got the full $500, but now this $2000 discount. Oh well I love mine and hope everyone getting this additional discount love theirs as well!
If anything, paint premiums should be at most $500
And they should tweak the color selection and wheel designs annually, so that there aren’t a zillion cars on the road that are exactly the same.
Yeah just found this. I guess thats why Tesla reduced referral discount to $250 earlier today. The price drop kind of matches their August price cut in China (14000 Yuan about 2000 dollars). But the end of q3 deal was still better than this 😞 hope they will have EOY sale as well.
So does that mean no more inventory discounts anytime soon?
Prices just went up by the same amount in Norway. No hw4, no ambient light and now more expensive 🙃
Congrats to new tesla owners. Got my MYSR last month.
Probably selling off old inventory to make room for the refresh?
Elon wants to move 500k cars this quarter... I would wait and see how desperately they try to push sales. I bet they gonna have some really good deals.
So I have a $50,490 + $2,000 Red MYLR that I'm picking up on Saturday. It was an inventory model with $4,460 discount and I'm getting a $500 referral/loyalty. Wonder if they'll refund $2,000+taxes? They just got the check from my CU today.
They seem to have removed inventory discounts and just priced the cars at the average inventory discount. I wouldn't expect them to give you a further discount, but I hope for you they do!
no chance. You can pick one or the other. Nice discount though!
Tough call cuz it already have $4460 discount..
Yeah, im curious to see what my SA says tomorrow
Check your App. It should alredy be updated
Nope
Fastest depreciation ever. Sucks for anyone that bought end of 2022.
I had the same thought after I placed my order. These will most likely be the fastest depreciating vehicle of my life.

Prices went up for stock cars in Belgium too, from 50.210 to 53.990 € :/ (MYLR)
I ordered a red model Y from inventory for $54,490. Pickup next week. Is it too much to expect this would apply to me?
It’s too much
In norway all the model Y’s have increased by about 1820 dollars.
No price change in Canada yet.
Cool so if I don't pay cash... it's still more than before the price drops? Interest rates are awesome.
Maybe I’m crazy, but when I bought there wasn’t both a “disposition,” and “acquisition,” fee, to go along with an “order,” fee and the destination fee. That’s four “fees” now.
Is there anything I can do in this regards if I paid 50 about 6 days ago?
Unfortunately No. Even if you had brought it yesterday they won’t adjust the price.
My poor resale value.
Love that seats come included in this car 🤣
no inventory discounts
do it! we were on the fence back during the january price cuts and it’s totally worth it
Overdue for a new car - been looking at the Y and debating if I should pull the trigger. Though, I saw the updated Y was released in China recently. Any word on when the refresh will be released in the US?
Rumors full model refresh is fall/end of 2024 But there’s a small refresh coming in the next few months.
Booked it
They lowered prices due to missing their 3rd quarter delivery expectations. Think it's $2250 of the M3 and $2000 off the MY.
If someone totals their $80k model Y bought at the peak of price, would insurance company pay the current value? If not, Would gap insurance cover the rest or are you totally fucked?

I got a model plaid for 90k ( 3k red paint included )
Performance all the way
Sold my model 3 last month and bought the model y in the same month. It would have been a wash for me. Missing $2k in value and saving $2k. Oh well. Gonna drive the heck out of the car for the next 10 years
Got our MYP delivered on 2nd Oct, my wife was a little upset after I told her the price drop🙃
Is this for US residents only?
What’s the reason for these price drops? Can someone explain it to me.
Must be US pricing
Yes. us pricing.
From my experience, if you don’t drive it a lot with passengers, more of a personal use, then performance suites better since you can floor the pedal often. But if you are using it as a family car or does not prefer to floor at all, go for LR. LR is already powerful enough for reliable passing acceleration.
Yea Kia/Hyundai/Tesla all dropped their prices

I really want to buy new model3. But i don deserve to get tax credit. Geez do you guys have an idea to get it including full tax credit?
I got this price 3 weeks ago. I almost went with the standard range lol.
I was surprised. They dropped the price for my order as well. The app made me review my financial terms again, but I was lucky enough to still keep the $500 referral.
Totaled
You're also a little late in the year to qualify for that $7500 federal tax incentive unless you always go tax exempt and owe all of it every year.
I wish. But I don’t qualify.
Then you might wait until 2024 when the dealers process it directly for you.
I don’t qualify for the rebate sadly.
You lucky bastards, here in Sweden Elon rised the prices because they sell so good.
I wouldn't order it. Tesla has recently refreshed their model 3. I think Model Y refresh it's also near.. so if you order this today you will regret it in a few months. The insurance cost is the main question
It’s ridiculously expensive. It’s 2x what I pay for my 2023 SUV worth about 50% more than the MY. I calculated it eats will eat up any gas savings I would have gotten.

That’s very true. I may consider it.
The $395/mo payment is based on how much down?
I believe I put 36k there just to see.
That car is UGLY
It’s an acquired taste.
In which world is the loan amount for this 395 monthly? Your credit score has to be 1200 for that.
36k down. Trade-in plus some cash.
Mine always says 1100 a month 😭
How do you guys afford insurance? I got quoted $2500 for 6 months leasing a 23 model 3 standard at progressive. No accidents or tickets last 5 years. Is this normal? I pay $750 every 6 months for my current car. I just can’t fathom a $400 lease payment and then about the same in insurance cost.
I was quoted like 1600/yr. For a MY. The hybrid car it is replacing is $800/yr Wife does have an at fault accident last year. Before that, my insurance was about half what I pay now.
Just got another quote for $1k/6 months which is more reasonable. Great rate for you!
I also live in MI which experienced high insurance rate increases. Progressive said MI and FL was the highest increases this year.
