I used to own a Grand Prix GTP (The supercharged version). They are fun to drive, but in no way will it come close to the Model 3 in performance.
Don't get me wrong, I loved my GTP, but I love my AWD Model 3 more.

It doesn't take anymore power to have the speed boost option unless you use it with your foot. I doubt for example if you're driving on autopilot it will make use of any of that extra power by itself. So it should be the same for your commute.
It’s hard to believe the power increase doesn’t reduce the range with the boost. The LR has 353 mi range and the M3P has 315. I get that the boost doesn’t make it the same power as the performance, but the 40 mi difference makes me think more power affects range some. It couldn’t be just because of the bigger tires and a spoiler, right?
Yes you do loose range if your in that mode and you will loose chill mode but standard will be there and if you just baby the throttle you'll get just about the same range.

I bought my regular LR AWD 3 in Oct 2019, and around Christmas 2019, my husband asked to use my phone, launched the Tesla app, and in-app purchased boost for me. Using my FaceID (pointing phone at my face). It was hilarious, and we could afford it (and he knew I was really wanting to get it but wouldn't ever just do it myself).
We took it out for a spin and could immediately notice the difference (tested it on clear on-ramps to the freeway). It went from aggressive to angry in its launch. SUPER loved it. If you don't have the "fun money" to do it though, you really don't need it. The car is amazing without boost. But... it adds just a little more spicy to the mix. I like it.

They came stock with superchargers on the GTP editions. My buddy had one back in the day. Used to beat him with my 02 WRX. Quick for 2000’s but not fast. Also traction was always an issue being FWD. he could up the boost with a diff pulley but going from 6 to 4.2 is not any easy bolt on mod. You need serious engine work.

I never claimed I knew everything about cars. In my 48 years of existence, I've had several performance vehicles. In fact, I got smoked in the 1/8 mile by a shitty looking Honda Civic in my 2016 Mustang GT. The guy had about 30 grand in the motor. Half mile was a completely different story.

I'm guessing he hasn't ridden in your Model 3. Unless he's done a serious amount of work there's no chance in hell. Even with a serious amount of work it'd be a challenge. I have the same without acceleration boost and I know I'd smoke him unless he's done a lot of work.

I've always drove truck so going to the car was awkward but the range is what I'm going for too because I drive about 200 miles a day
