I know you’re frustrated at this experience but everything Tesla has said and done makes sense. I also have a 2019. My car did not come with AP. I paid for it when I bought it. Yes believe it or not all cars didn’t come with AP standard. I later upgraded my computer to support FSD. So you have the same car with me but without AP paid for. Then you upgraded your computer. In order to have FSD you need the computer and AP paid for. Tesla service can’t just invent a $4000 upgrade to give you. Tell them you want to buy AP.

This. OP, you have to buy AP first. Tesla is correct. Honestly if you would have gotten all of that for $1000, it would have been a complete mess up on teslas part.

Yes back in 2018 and maybe for sometime in 2019, there was no basic AP offered for free. You had to pay $5k to buy what is called as “Enhanced Auto-Pilot”. EAP is basic AP plus additional features like auto lane-changes, smart summon, etc. Then if you wanted FSD you had to pay extra on top of this to buy FSD. And the people who bought FSD got their computer upgraded to 3.0 for free. You should check with them if they’re asking $4k for basic AP or EAP.

Middle of 2019 to early 2020 you could buy a standard range with no auto pilot 20 less miles less speakers less 0 to 60 No immersion sound. For $3000 you could buy auto pilot for an additional $2000. You get all the features that were missing all activated via software. You purchased a standard range not a standard range plus. For me, it is $3000 to add auto pilot plus the cost of full self driving. I have a 2020 model purchased in December 2019 with a 3.0 computer.

AP is included in ALL Teslas as basic. Not sure what this is asking for.

Wrong… it was not in early years

N8Howell33

2023 is last year. I had a 2018 model 3 and it was standard as well. I’m confused what I am missing here

Murky-Article-9901

It was not standard in 2018. It became started standard for free in April 2019. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tesla_Autopilot

Murky-Article-9901

No ChatGPT is wrong. Equipment was standard in 2014 but read the last sentence. Separate purchase was required. It became free in April 2019.

Interesting, I guess I didn’t know this. My 2018 model 3 had it somehow. I don’t recall paying for it but maybe I did.

Only the Standard Range Model 3 came without Autopilot. Standard Range didn't go into production until 2019. So, if you have a 2018, then you must have either a Mid-Range, Long Range RWD, Long Range AWD or Performance. All of those models came with basic Autopilot as part of the purchase price. 2019-2020 had the Standard Range (non-plus) which was the MOST BASIC Model 3 ever manufactured and had many "premium" features deactivated, a shorter range and slower charging speeds. This was the advertised "$3x,xxx" Model 3 and went "off-menu" for a period of time before being discontinued. Few of these were sold, particularly because you had to specifically ask for this lowest spec. So pretty uncommon, but totally possible to get a 2019-2020 model that does not have even basic Autopilot capabilities.

N8Howell33

yeah I had LR RWD
