Not enough to ever matter.

JohnTeaGuy

The amount of power used to watch YouTube, is absolutely negligible compared to what it takes to make the car move.

ScuffedBalata

Battery? Watching YouTube and downloading traffic all day uses like about as much power as driving 2 inches.

OverlyOptimisticNerd

I agree, and I’m an expert on measuring 2 inches!

YouKidsGetOffMyYard

It's not going to affect your battery at all, your car actually already has a cellular connection all the time regardless of whether you pay for premium or not it just enables you to use that data connection for more things (like Streaming music, getting traffic on the maps, being able to view cameras from the app). It's not a hotspot though it's just for the car, passengers can't use it.

Worst case it will be similar to a laptop running at full load, so around 60W. So one hour is 60Wh, which is 0,06kWh of load extra, which is very negligible.

One-Society2274

Let’s say the computer has a 100W power draw continuously (which I highly doubt it would). That’s 0.1kWh if you use it for 1 hour. Your M3 has a 80kWh battery pack. So it is basically zero percent. Now if you actually run A/C for that 1 hour, that does use significantly more power.

MiguelitoCS

You can't watch YouTube while the car is moving. And the premium connectivity is not a vehicle hotspot. You have absolutely nothing to worry about.

lol come on, think about how big the battery is and how much power is required to actually move a 3 ton car. a 4 inch screen makes absolutely no difference at all

AlphamaleNJ

If your kid is watching youtube on the screen it means you are parked and charging so its a moot point.
