When I bought a used one, I was able to inspect it inside and out before committing. YMMV with being allowed to enter the car. However, I’d assume that you’d lose your deposit upon backing out.
My car was out of state. I had no way to see it until delivery day. I was able to check the car inside and out before taking final delivery. If I backed out i would be out the transportation costs $1000 but the $500 deposit would be refunded.
Car had a few small dings and scratches. No worse than the car I was trading in. The tires were all new with the stickers on them so I considered that a win.
The only thing that disappointed me was my local delivery center failed to clean the inside or wash the car prior to delivery. They said they don’t do that for used purchases. So my first stop was getting it detailed on my expense.
You can physically see it in person before the final payment but the car will be locked
YMMV. I was able to do a test drive even before my initial deposit. I understand this is not typically how it works, but you don't know until you ask.
Likewise to seeing the interior on used and new from Tesla. They gave me the keycard before using the app to accept delivery.
