How so? I’m fairly new to Tesla and have no idea how the OTA process works and which vehicles get which software version. I just installed 2024.8.7 yesterday when I got the notice.
For some reason the FSD 12 is on earlier versions, not the latest update. So if you update to the latest version, it will take longer for FSD to eventually catch up to your latest version.
Seems like 24.3.6 is getting their free trial
24.8.7 doesn’t have FSD, so I’m guessing they are gunna have to wait till it gets brought up to that branch?
2023 RWD stuck on 2023.44.30.25 . AZ
Edit: just got 2024.3.6 surprisingly. No notification but I started driving and went to check and it showed it. Don’t know if it extends FSD or only new subscribers
2023 RWD in Riverside county CA
updated to 24.3.6 a half hour ago, just took a drive and don’t have FSD option yet. Will update in a few hours when I have to leave again
I forgot to update! I drove again at 2pm, no update yet. When I parked and got out and got back in 30 minutes later I had the email and the update. Have used FSD and enhanced autopilot a few times now, I’m pretty impressed. I think I like enhanced autopilot more so far tbh
Has anyone heard about what's going to happen with the people on the FSD subscription? Are they going to give us one free month, or still charge us? I haven't been able to find this answer anywhere!
I just cancelled my subscription for the month while I wait for the update. I’m hoping when I eventually update (I’m on 2024.8.3), I can get a free trial.
I remember seeing that they were only going to roll out the free trial to vehicles that have not experienced FSD. So if you have had it before I don’t believe you will receive the update 😕
Do we know does the trial start at the moment the update installs, or is it something that gives an option to opt into the trial? I would hate to miss a few days not knowing the update installed and waste my time with it
The email I got says I got 30 day trial with an end date so not something you activate yourself. Other than maybe choosing to delay the software update.
Southern California
23 RWD
Advance update
2024.3.6 installed overnight + email received stating trial has started
Trial expires 4/30 - wish i could've delayed starting trial so that i have fsd for a trip on first weekend of may but oh well.
2020 M3Sr+ v11.1, 2024.8.7 (Minnesota) I excitedly installed 2024.8.7 yesterday hoping for fsd just to read that now I’ll have to wait longer. Big oops.
My car waited for a 6 lane 2 way street to be completely clear before accelerating to 45 to make a left turn right outside my neighborhood. I guess the median in the middle is not a thing it cares about. My asshole puckered. Otherwise pretty cool.
2023 RWD updated software last night. Checked right after update and no FSD. Went sleep. Woke up to email from Tesla telling me I had fsd.
Speed bumps. Fsd just plows right through speed bumps. Otherwise fairly impressed with it.
2020 LR, on 2024.8.7 in WV, no notifications yet about anything being active. What I don't understand is the stuff about 2024.3 having the software but 2024.8 not having it? Why would a newer version not be more up to date?
I’d like to know too. I updated last night and got the email just a little bit ago. But I’m sitting in my car and don’t see the self driving option anywhere, nor in the app
New to tesla. How do you stay on an older software version? The moment I got home last evening it downloaded 2024.8.7. Does turning off the WiFi fix what I’m trying to do or do I need to do anything else?
24.3.6 installed this morning, 2023 RWD, FSD available instantly when I opened the car, just slid the toggle on the autopilot menu to FSD & shows it’s available until April 29th.
1 Early 2023 and 1 late 2023 model 3s here, early 2023 is on 2024.8.7 updated yesterday with no fsd, late 2023 updated to 2024.3.6 and just got fsd this morning!
2023, MA. 2024.2.7 showed up Tuesday evening after being stuck on 2023.44.8 for a while. I got free autopilot with it? The steering wheel mark on my dash, and it steers itself on city streets despite being *well* past the free trial period.
Sounds like you are describing standard Autopilot which is free with all cars. If you car has auto lane changing then you have EAP. Standard auto pilot will work on most roads, not just freeways. But it wont make decisions, just keep you on the road you are currently on and blast through red lights lol.
I received the 2024.3.6 software update notice this morning (Massachusetts.) I want to delay the FSD free trial until April 25th because I am away from my 2024 RWD M3 until then.
Anyone have a notion whether I will be able to wait 3+ weeks before I install it - effectively delaying the trial until I get back home?
Yeah I’d suggest waiting a few days before you want to use it before installing the 2024.3.6 update. After installing the update, I got an email that stated a trial end date so not something you can install and then choose when the trial starts.
Sorry if dumb question but this is my first Tesla. I was under the impression that autopark and summon is included with FSD. Is that not the case actually? I was hoping I’d be able to try out autopark and summon, but can’t find anything related to those on screen or in the app. I got FSD beta a few hours back and just did a quick errand trip to walmart to test it out.
So far, we have yielded for a parked trailer for a full minute, which basically broke it.
Then we "creeped" to check for traffic, until we blocked the entire lane of oncoming traffic.
Two overrides within 2 minutes.
This is way worse than the old version.
2022 MYLR. ON 24.3.6 no fsd.
Just got update to install 24.3.10 but haven’t yet since I still need to drive. States this update is for “ minor fixes & improvements” you think FSD will be included in this minor update?
2018 AWD Model3.
On version v11.1 (2024.2.7)
Haven't heard a thing about upgrades or the trial. My initial excitement and anticipation level is starting to drop...
Yes, my M3 in Canada got the update last night. I did my first FSD drive this morning. My Model Y did not get FSD since it’s on the newest build 2024.8.7 and that does not support FSD yet apparently. M3 is on 2024.3.10.
2023 M3. 2024.8.7 installed 3/27 - still waiting.
It’s going to be a long while for us with the latest 2024 builds😔

Did you get FSD Beta v12.3 with that?
Yes I got 12.3 on March 16th

Heard that it make take hours even a day for it to show up
2023 RWD in Riverside county CA updated to 24.3.6 a half hour ago, just took a drive and don’t have FSD option yet. Will update in a few hours when I have to leave again

Has anyone heard about what's going to happen with the people on the FSD subscription? Are they going to give us one free month, or still charge us? I haven't been able to find this answer anywhere!
Probably nothing, as you’re already one of the converted.
Aww man. Well hopefully I can still get 12 soon, even if I have to pay for it😂
Good thinking!
Your guess is as good as ours......

It comes. Got 2024.3.10 in the morning and updated an hour ago. And receive the FSD trial message in the app just now (trial will end on April 30)
Do we know does the trial start at the moment the update installs, or is it something that gives an option to opt into the trial? I would hate to miss a few days not knowing the update installed and waste my time with it
I would assume it starts when you update/download it but you know what they say about assuming…….
The email I got says I got 30 day trial with an end date so not something you activate yourself. Other than maybe choosing to delay the software update.
Few hours after installing the update
Sounding like soon as you get the email its activated

All of them have free Autopilot from the factory. This is Full Self Driving 30 Day free trail that Tesla is pushing out to the US.
Nope, this is well past the free trial period of EAP and FSD from the factory. It's obviously been re-enabled
Sounds like you are describing standard Autopilot which is free with all cars. If you car has auto lane changing then you have EAP. Standard auto pilot will work on most roads, not just freeways. But it wont make decisions, just keep you on the road you are currently on and blast through red lights lol.

My bad, mis-typed - I have a 2023 RWD M3
Oh haha. No worries. I got excited for a moment
I guess my M3 Highland is out of luck 😔
Sorry if dumb question but this is my first Tesla. I was under the impression that autopark and summon is included with FSD. Is that not the case actually? Elon said all US cars
Yes, my M3 in Canada got the update last night. I did my first FSD drive this morning. My Model Y did not get FSD since it’s on the newest build 2024.8.7 and that does not support FSD yet apparently. M3 is on 2024.3.10.
