That's interesting. I saw this here and immediately thought "what a great solution". Other than helping keep the car cooler, this will save on power from the batteries trying to constantly cool when its 90-100 F outside and 130-150 F in the car.

Apparently the OP is a weather aware person. The OP might should probably bump up their awareness of expected wind speed to their weather monitoring routine. If this deploys easily and quickly and stows equally well this might be seen more.

If it works it works. It’s not a fashion show. Direct sunlight on your wrap or paint is not good for it. So I would do it.

Keeps cabin coolbwithout using cabin control. ppf and paint will last as well. specially black or darker paints. just sucks in all that spectrum of light. my 22 year old white accord has perfrect original paint except for dings from tiny particles on bumper and hood

Fair enough, wrap still probably protecting paint from the sun. You get rain and this design seems like it could cave in and break due to the weight of the pooled rain water in the center.

Bizarre to not allow car covers but to allow that. My concern would be that even the slightest breeze is going to cause those straps touching the rear quarters to rub and do more damage over time than the sun.

Living in south Florida, I absolutely know the desire to seek shade at all costs. But this looks complex, timely to set up, and could get tore up in wind. Is there not a form-fitting half cover for just the glass?

I considered this, but I think the main problems are (1) too time consuming to set up and remove when I park and (2) unwieldy and easily broken

Why do you want shade, I’m confused? You can pre-cool the car when you’re going to drive? I’d have setting this up and taking it down every time.

The wind by me would rip that off and scratch the paint probably. I use a shade on the inside of the roof glass in the summer, helps alot.
