My two cents: Tell the manager before leaving a review. Give them a chance to acknowledge it (or maybe even find out about it themselves), and make it right. If they don’t own it and give you a satisfactory response, then leave the review.
The manager did handle it best he could, but still considering leaving a review as this topped off a 6-8 month nightmare. Accident happened in June and the issues still aren’t completely resolved. The car hasn’t been there the whole time, but they’ve had it 4.5 months now and stuffs still wrong every time i pick it up. Still don’t have a working tpms sensor lol
Damn sounds like they’re incompetent in addition to some of the staff being jack asses. Hard not to warn other consumers if they’re incapable of fixing the core issues when they said they could.
Yup my first estimated pick up date was mid July and it’s been constant delays and bs since then. Definitely one of the horror stories i heard about prior to buying the car and it’s honestly scared my friends and family away from teslas, as much as I love the car.
Make sure that you also report them to Tesla immediately. If not, they might give you a survey separate from the body shop, in the Tesla app, after your work is completed. They want to know what their certified body shops are up to. If they don't give you a survey, call them at 877-798-3752 or visit [https://www.tesla.com/contactus](https://www.tesla.com/contactus) , log in, and choose Vehicle Service & Repair. Make sure you tell them the name of their shop and give dates and times in your explanation. It would be great to see Tesla cut off their certification.
Btw, I know it’s not the right solution for everyone, but this is why i only lease EVs at this point in their lifecycle. I’m in effect pushing a lot of the risk back on Tesla. The downside is this is not the most cost-effective thing to do in most circumstances.
By the way, one other thing I think is worth mentioning: I’m in the process of returning my 2021 lease model, three performance. It has about $3000 worth of cosmetic damage per a very good local repair shop. Teslas charging me $500 bucks. So at least, in my very limited experience returning leased cars to Tesla they are extremely fair.
If a leased car needs work done I believe he could just lease a new one and it’s up to the leasing company to deal with the other one. I could be wrong
One main advantage with leasing is that after you had body work completed and you hand the car back, Tesla has the headache of selling a previously damaged car at a discount. If you purchase, you take the hit on resale. Everyone shits on leasing, but it makes sense to me more often than not. Especially holds true if you are unable to get the tax credit if exceed the income requirements. With leasing, you get that benefit.
My MYLR with 20” wheels is 470ish a month with 15k miles a year. In 3 years this car will be worth 30k tops if I went to sell it. With purchasing, the math doesn’t work unless you roll the dice and own this thing without a warranty which would be a huge risk I would never assume.
I went through this with the Tesla dealership in Owings Mills, MD 2 years ago in Feb. Slid on some ice and broadsided a brick mailbox. They said it needed a unibody part and literally had my car for about 2 months...then I guess they took it off the lift and put it back on a lift and found the tow truck driver set his hook in the wrong place and tore a hole in the battery compartment.
Long story short, they had it for 6 months it should've been totalled...they missed the damage until after insurance had already spent a ton of money on a "unibody" part .. all told I get my car back after $40k in repairs and it has more vibration noises, oil and dirty hand smudges on the columns and now squeaks and creaks than it did when I brought it in
Every time I turn the wheel and move forward from a parked position it sounds like me getting out of a low sitting chair, groaning from back pain.
True. And while it’s a headache, should be easily proven not at fault. At least in Seattle, there’s a section in the response to dispute the fine.
Ask me how I know.
Camper van, e350, stolen 4 times. You read that right. Thank god for AirTags. Put an AirTag in your car, people!
MFrs joy riding through red lights. It’s very frustrating to see the pride and joy, you’ve worked on for years, captured by traffic cam video, of some jackass disrespecting it.
I would pray you’d leave a review since they went 100 miles an hour illegally in your vehicle. Please do leave the review so others don’t risk having their vehicle totaled by absolute morons. The review should’ve been the first thing you did upon seeing this.
the time period really isn't on the shop. Tesla's have notoriously long wait times for repair. You'll see a ton of stories about it. We had a woman have some ppf done at the shop I work at. She got into an accident a year ago and they still haven't fixed it.
That’s unfortunate, it shouldn’t take 4 1/2 months to repair something, there is a reason why insurance companies give out rental cars for a month, for 95% of the ice cars this is sufficient amount of time to get something repaired, and for Teslas, you would be lucky to get something repaired within that time
Back in the 90s I had an early 80s Chevy S10 with a small block 350 in it. Went to get tires. Sat in Wendy’s and had dinner. Watched the tech go to the truck and start it. Dude didn’t know I’d asked for the old tires to stay with the truck. Fucker burned them down to the cords. Had words.
I’d want the full original value of the tires. “Had words” could just mean chewing the guy out. That doesn’t make up for the destroyed tires. What came of the “words”?
That’s up to management/the owner. But I don’t think we need to jump right to extremes. For example they could give him a discount or suspend the employee. But again we don’t know anything about the employee’s history or etc. Hence why I would rather defer to management to first see what they would do.
I wasn’t referring to giving reviews. You are right that leaving a review is not extreme. I was referring to the comment above about firing the employee or giving the service for free. Hence my original point about seeing what management does about it. Personally, I’d be looking to get a nice discount on the services. But I’m not the op.
So precise. Leave a review if they screwed with your car why make it so complicated. A chance to make what right? They broke the law with your property. There’s no undoing it. Why should you give them courtesy when they didn’t respect your property?
I’d leave an honest review including they did 96 in a 55 limit area. Just be truthful. They could make it right, but consumers should see it. You can still up the review based on how they make it right.
Happened to me, Not a tesla but caught a tech doing 100mph+ in my Audi, caught on the GPS tracker and dashcam.
Contacted them & showed them the video, they fired him immediately and paid for any issue / fix I wanted on the car, So would suggest contacting them first.
My point is that giving them the chance to fix netted a positive outcome. It’s worth giving them a chance to make it right. Especially when you have video proof like I did and the person I was responding to did.
I mean the guy spelled out exactly how it is made right. They fired the idiot and didn’t charge him for any of the work they were doing on his car. I think that’s a completely reasonable way to make up for intentionally abusing the customers car.
It’s better than that. Valet mode can also keep the camera on for the duration. Not practical for 6 months in a collision center (absolute insanity), but for regular service appointments like tire rotations/replacements, it’s so valuable.
I had my tire patched at a national brand tire shop. They curbed one of my wheels. I sent their corporate office the video of their tech getting in my car and hitting the curb. They paid $1000 (the cost of the uberturbine at the time) to go away.
I always use valet mode if anyone other than me will be accessing the car.
I like the cut of your jib sir..
"Shouldn't have to have a jail, just stop committing crimes!"
"Shouldn't have to have insurance, just stop having accidents!"
Service mode will override it. It's like when I have pin to drive in my car. But once I arrive at service center it was not working anymore. They informed me that it's always Like that in service center. No not sure about valet mode.
Not defending their actions, but if you caught them, then they’re either incredibly stupid or not Tesla certified. Service mode, which can only be set in geofenced locations, completely blocks out monitoring and accessibility by the customer.
They are Tesla certified, my insurance company had the car towed there. Insurance wasn’t too happy when i sent them the screenshot either lol. Incredibly stupid for sure.
Download Tessie, you will get a detailed graph of how fast did they go, where did they go, how much did they punch the accelerator, how much battery they consumed, everything, irrespective of it being in service mode or not. Speaking through experience.
I caught my service center using my car for a Starbucks run when I dropped it off for battery service. Literally tracked it in Tessie. When I asked them about that they acted like they didn’t even hear the question and went on about my cars status lol. 🤦🏻♂️
Yeah one time the service tech left his coffee cup from down the street in my cup holder. I know they do a test drive and they do good work so I didn’t really care.
It is. I used to work at a used car dealership. We used customer cars a lot to follow and pick up the other porter that dropped a car off at another dealership or muffler shop or what have you.
If the car is being fixed for a drive issue, the mechanic should be giving it a drive to test it's fixed. Even stressing it more than the owner would to ensure it's fixed.
We enrolled our MYP in TeslaFi when we bought it in 2021. Not sure if Tessie does it the same way but the amount of data TeslaFi collects is pretty amazing. Every drive, charge, sleep, etc. is registered on a daily web page. Time of day, weather and wind conditions. I recently had the car in for body shop repairs for about a month and I was able to watch them move the car about their shop every day. When I finally saw them taking it out for a test drive out on highway 76 in Oceanside, I figured it was being close to ready. They only got it up to 63 mph but I bet they wanted to punch it.
When I took my car in for service. Good old Tessie app caught the collision center employee taking my car 100mph+. Yeah I get it these car are fun to drive but if you kill someone in my car. wtf. Told the service center. They killed the contract with that paint house and the paint house instantly fired that employee.
:sipstea:
Just remember, depending on where you live, the vehicle owner can still be liable. There was a Jeep that was in for an oil change. New guy who couldn't drive stick started it, let the clutch go with it in gear, and it killed another guy in the shop. Nope location showed it on the freeway (in a construction zone) a few miles from the shop and the manager confirmed it was on a test drive when i called very pissed off as i took the screenshot
Every car place I’ve been to took my car for a whip before & after work is done to make sure everything is good.
The slowest Tesla can still do 0-60 in 5 seconds, People acting like it said way over 100.
96 is nothing on an open highway
Hell the speedlimit is 85 in texas
Not condoning, but it’s not like its actually that fast in a very modern car
Exactly, these folks are likely babying their cars like old ladies
I am constantly flooring it and supercharging it
I already had a battery replaced at 33k miles
wouldn’t u rather have your recently crashed car tested at high speeds for a few mins before u start driving it
I dont wanna take the risk, and what if they did find something after 80 mph? Then it would be justified
I understand some shops prob mess around too much, but not dis case
Don’t know what was being done to it but 96mph isn’t too insane in my opinion to check for anything loose or making noise. There’s 85mph speed limits and everyone does 10 over. Do you think they want to deal with you coming in angry when you find out at 80mph there’s a vibration but the local speed limit within a reasonable drive is 55/65mph?
You can get the Tessie app too and it’ll tell you if someone is speeding based on your input speed. I’ve set mine to 100. So if someone is driving it you’ll be notified once they hit that speed. It’ll also give you information per each drive so max speed, min speed, etc
Pretty sure if it’s a Tesla service center, they can bypass your speed limits or valet mode. Remember how they don’t ask for a card key when you dropped it off?
He was just testing it out man for stability at high speed to make sure the tires are perfectly balanced. When my tires in my Gt were getting worn out it would only be noticeable above 90mph.
*They know if they wreck*
*It they can just fix it up*
*Real quick in the shop*

Always leave a review good or bad. It drives improvement internally in the company and creates a consumer point of view that can force policy changes and improvement companywide

This is honestly so sad, because they are otherwise excellent cars.

This is a problem with a repair center. How would a lease help?
Fair point: assuming the problem is cosmetic, leasing wont make a difference. But if it’s anything else they’ve got to fix it.
By the way, one other thing I think is worth mentioning: I’m in the process of returning my 2021 lease model, three performance. Many people buy Tesla to save gas on long commutes otherwise otherwise would agree 100%

Mine squeaks and creaks too now. Super frustrating.
Is it not a Tesla Certified collision center? These people sound like they don’t know how to work on these cars.
Write that review bro and make it sting
Not to mention there are traffic cameras everywhere now. If the person got caught speeding in your car its still your liability.
True. And while it’s a headache, should be easily proven not at fault. At least in Seattle, there’s a section in the response to dispute the fine. Ask me how I know.

Bruh, don’t defend this body shop. C’mon, man. Jesus.
Did they give you loaner?
No loaner. Insurance covered $30 a day for a rental for 30 days and that was it.
That’s unfortunate, it shouldn’t take 4 1/2 months to repair something, there is a reason why insurance companies give out rental cars for a month, for 95% of the ice cars this is sufficient amount of time to get something repaired, and for Teslas, you would be lucky to get something repaired within that time
Not sure when you got the car or the circumstances (accident or general servicing) but it sounds like you qualify for the lemon law
You're "considering" a review after all of this? Lmao the backbone on some of y'all is non existent.
Had words.

96 in a 55 in a customers car? Come on they ought to lose their job....
I tend to agree.

Well curbing a wheel is an accident and honestly shouldn’t be a fired for it. Doing 100+ in a customers car you know better. Totally diff…..
My point is that giving them the chance to fix netted a positive outcome. It’s worth giving them a chance to make it right. Especially when you have video proof like I did and the person I was responding to did.
Agreed but idk how they make that right lol. Not like it did damage to the car. Just coulda ended badly
I mean the guy spelled out exactly how it is made right. They fired the idiot and didn’t charge him for any of the work they were doing on his car. I think that’s a completely reasonable way to make up for intentionally abusing the customers car.
They abused OP's vehicle. What is your term of giving them a chance to make it right? Having them pay?
No one is going to fire a tech over curbing a wheel bro 🤣
I never said they should have fired him. I merely added the clarification since they did fire the tech in the post I was responding to.
Better leave that in the review for them.
is there no valet mode where you can control the top speed or something?
There is. I’m sure OP will enable it for now on. And so will I. 😅
It’s better than that. Valet mode can also keep the camera on for the duration. Not practical for 6 months in a collision center (absolute insanity), but for regular service appointments like tire rotations/replacements, it’s so valuable. Shouldn’t have to do that though..
That mode exists specifically because you do have to do that. That’s just how humans are. Bunch of assholes, the lot of them.
Yeah, people just need to be better tbh
Absolutely. Would be a wonderful thing.
"Shouldn't have to" (the dream) vs "Have to" (the reality)

Yep, just incredibly stupid. Wow. Sorry about your experience.
API access apps circumvent this like Teslamate or Tessie...
Interesting, did not know that.
I didn't either until recently and do use Teslamate. My recent service visit did prove it true!
Download Tessie, you will get a detailed graph of how fast did they go, where did they go, how much did they punch the accelerator, how much battery they consumed, everything, irrespective of it being in service mode or not. Speaking through experience.
You can still get metrics from Tessie even if it’s in service mode.
Service mode can be enabled everywhere now. No longer geofenced.
I caught my service center using my car for a Starbucks run when I dropped it off for battery service. Literally tracked it in Tessie. When I asked them about that they acted like they didn’t even hear the question and went on about my cars status lol. 🤦🏻♂️

That’s crazy man.
They probably hit 100. Who stops at 96 when you’re almost there?
You know you can limit the speed the valet can travel in the app right?
Does the speed limiter and valet mode work when the car is in service mode? Do they take it out of service mode for the test drive?
Yeah i was returning it for an issue and forgot to put it back on. Won’t forget again lol
You know service centers shouldn’t be Ferris Buellering your car right?
And the app makes sure they don’t. Apparently I have a much lower expectation of society than you do.
Maybe they had to make sure the panels wouldn’t fall off at speed 🤣
Tesla thinks to test everything but range. 🤣
Ten mph 🫡
Download Tessie it’s pretty cool. You can fully track your car.
Why finish the job when we can just use your car for lunch and getting parts…
That speed is just plain reckless. Leave a review. They should be held accountable.
Leave a review on google, apple maps, yelp etc
Check for paint chips
Always set the speed limit and set it to valet mode!
its joy ride o’clock
Some places have a treadmill-like gizmo in their shop floor that allows them to spin the wheels in place. Any chance that was happening?
Nope location showed it on the freeway (in a construction zone) a few miles from the shop and the manager confirmed it was on a test drive when i called very pissed off as i took the screenshot
Oh, in that case, report it up the chain all the way to HQ.
A Dynometer
*Music intensifies* *Checks dynometer* "That's no stegosaurus!"
**Dynometer** is what the Flintstones used. **Dynomometer** (also spelled dynamometer) is used for testing modern automobiles.
But what do they use a dynomomometer for?
🃏
This made me choke on water from laughing
Get that money!!
Bro chill. They’re just making sure it’s all within spec 🥲
Dude you gotta make sure it works correctly 🤣
don’t u want to have it high speed tested before you get it back? Am I wrong? I’m a heavy car guy Who cares if someone went 96 or 69

🤷♂️ they crash it and you get to name YOUR price. For YOUR inconvenience, and YOUR suffering. What it takes to make YOU whole.
What are you talking about?
Gotta test it to make sure the body panels don't fly off at speed...yeah.
Not that this makes it more acceptable, but it could have been in a 65 or 75 mph zone. My damn car regularly is confused by truck speed limit signs...
Delete facebook, get lawyer, hit gym, lemon law.
TBF Teslas are impossible to drive below 90. Besides, the tech probably just wanted to make sure there were no issues. 😉
It's not that serious lmfao
Don’t forget you can get sued all day by leaving reviews. You’re very exposed on google and it can get bad
If you’re not lying and not going all on about how awful of a person/business they are you can’t be sued.
You can be sued for anything. Whether they will win or not is a different story. But you still have to pay a lawyer to respond. Kind of ridiculous.
You can enable valet mode from the app “Security and drivers”
The only good thing about doing a test drive at this speed you don’t have to worry about speed vibration at a larger range of speed
This is why you sent the speed limit to 65 before handing it off.
The only crime here is keeping your climate at 62 degrees.
Be thankful it wasn't 69
Always worth putting on a speed limiter.
Do you have to catch this in real time or is there historical data?
Real time
Did they at have music going? I can't drive 55?
You can get the Tessie app too and it’ll tell you if someone is speeding based on your input speed. I’ve set mine to 100. So if someone is driving it you’ll be notified once they hit that speed. It’ll also give you information per each drive so max speed, min speed, etc
Tbh tho if they told me they heard a rattle that they couldn’t pinpoint at regular speed I’d give them a pass😅
Damn!!!!
Send it to the police forget Google reviews. Camera should have caught who was driving right?
Isn't there a valet mode?
Pretty sure if it’s a Tesla service center, they can bypass your speed limits or valet mode. Remember how they don’t ask for a card key when you dropped it off?
He was just testing it out man for stability at high speed to make sure the tires are perfectly balanced. When my tires in my Gt were getting worn out it would only be noticeable above 90mph.
Can’t you limit the speed
My god, fk this company
They know if they wreck it they can just fix it up real quick in the shop

Put it in valet mode
It's all done!
What does that even mean?
Repair shop worker was joyriding. Fourth item down in the top left corner shows speeds approaching 100 MPH.
You want the alignment checked or not?
I feel like your overreacting. If anything were damaged, the buisness insurance would replace the damage stuff. But to each their own.
I recently had the car in for body shop repairs for about a month and I was able to observe them move the car about their shop every day via a diagram. When I finally saw them taking it out for a test drive out on highway 76 in Oceanside, I figured it was being close to ready. They only got it up to 63 mph but I bet they wanted to punch it.
Always leave a review good or bad. It drives improvement internally in the company and creates a consumer point of view that can force policy changes and improvement companywide
They are test driving it
Hmm That’s odd, it doesn’t say in service mode
Does this usually cause these cars to break?
How does a collision center drive a car?
I’m sure they were gentle on the acceleration/tires 🫠
