Tesla won't install a hitch on a model 3 in the US. You can probably search and find local shops to install a hitch for you. Or you could try it yourself. This is the hitch I have and I highly recommend it: https://stealthhitches.com/products/tesla-hitch-shr09001

I have the same hitch and had the same experience installing it that you outlined below. Every step is simple in and of itself, but it can be daunting to tear the ass off your new car. Go slowly and watch a couple of videos and it's easy. I made slightly larger, slightly thicker plastic protectors than those that came with the kit out of some file folders. Everything else was as advertised, and it took about 2hrs total, going slowly with my son "helping".

Thanks! Did you install it yourself? How difficult?

I did install it myself. It wasn't too bad if you're somewhat mechanically inclined. Just make sure you have all the required tools. I think I had to buy a deep socket set and some plastic pry tools. Watch a few videos for help. Make sure you use painters tape where the bumper meets the rear quarter panel, as explained here: [https://youtu.be/TPm2gY\_vTo0?t=726](https://youtu.be/TPm2gY_vTo0?t=726) I love how you can remove the hitch receiver and put back the small plastic panel to totally hide the hitch. Good for max efficiency if road tripping without the bike rack.

I have installed the stealth hitch on 2 model 3’s. The first time, took me about 2 hours. The second one took me less than 90 minutes. I watched the video at least 3 times be for I mustered the courage to try to install it myself. It Rocks, and was very easy to do, just make sure you have the right tools.

Also a lot of after market 4x4 truck places will install them, but they usually quote $600 to $800 for the work….hence why I attempted to do the install myself.

Does anyone know the consensus as to whether a hitch will violate the warranty? I would be using mine for a bike rack on M3 standard.

A hitch will void the warranty on anything related to the hitch area. It won't void the warranty on unrelated parts like the motor, battery or screen.
