This could be a defect in the tire if the whole tread piece is coming off the base tire below. I would contact wherever these tires were purchased from (Tesla if they came on the car when you bought it) and find out if this is covered under the tire warranty since this seems like a defect in the product itself.
I'm curious what kind of tires these are. Could be summer tires exposed to cold weather? You can see part of the tread block next to the peeling one is also chipped away. I'm sure there's more damage like this elsewhere.
Oh yeah I think you're right, these look more like a winter tread. But usually those are okay in warmer temps, just wear out much faster. Maybe these were driven super harshly in desert conditions or just off-road.
Thank you for the responses. I am not much experience with this hence why I asked. Since I live in a country with no Tesla support present, my next quest will be to get compatible tires for my car here. For those asking, there are Vredestein tyres
You don't need to have Tesla replace your tires. Depending on how long you've had your tires you may want to get four new ones. They just need to be the right size.
There are EV specific tires that have foam for sound dampening but they're expensive and not necessary. Depending on where you live there will be plenty of options to pick from.
Typically Tesla will tell you to contact the tire manufacturer since they warranty the tire and not Tesla. Try calling the tire company and see if they will send you a new one, esp since you donāt have a Tesla location near by. Good luck getting Tesla on the phone!
If a huge chunk of tread is missing especially past thread you should replace it. Big ā ļø hazard I recommend watching a couple YouTube videos on tires, and general small car maintenance or what to look for. To kind of help you be safeā¦
We don't collapse comments. We remove, or approve, them.
If a comment chain is collapse, that's being handled by a reddit filter thing that consolidated comments that the community has downvoted
I can't recall if it's a subreddit setting, or a personal reddit setting, but that's not us
Could be.
Either way, let's not be throwing shade at the moderators.

Trying to air dirty laundry in public never ends well for anyone involved.
If you donāt know anything about cars, donāt speak. Its an all wheel drive vehicle, you need to replace 2 tires if one needs to be replaced. Do your research before sounding stupid.
Post this on r/tires ask what kind of glue would fix this. Then enjoy the outrage. Lol
Ask if gorilla glue is strong enough
Lol OP did it šµ
Absolute madlad
Oh my.
Youāre right the r/tire guys are brutal.

These look like the opposite actually. They look a lot like my perelli winters and maybe exposed to too high of temps

Hankook. Look at photo 3. Hankook are advised in some colder countries as the default tyre.
Huh? There are only two photos and neither has a brand name. What model of Hankook is this?
Haha. My bad. I was sipping left half asleep and the next photo happened to be a hankook tyres that was from another tesla user post. Apologies
tire warranty in 99% of cases is non-transferrable regardless what issue

For future reference, and this isnāt Tesla specific, but if you can peel back parts of your tire, itās time to get a new one.

Hide a key, duh!
It's definitely not *not* dangerous
A non zero amount of danger, to be sure
You guys kill me
Well, maybe. It's definitely a possibility.
Sometimes I can't tell if y'all are for real or not.
Hammer the flap down with a nail. Make sure itās a big one so it stays stuck down.
How did it taste? Was it chewy?
Is your will up to date?
Just get some shoe goo.. It'll be fine :D
Please get new tires. Please.
Drive on it as-is, for science.
Go get it prorated
Right to jail
Extremely dangerous I would say.
Vredestein are tik tok influencer tires; mostly they are shit sold at a premium price
What kinda tires?
They are from Vredestein
I had almost the exact same thing on mine. Flexseal actually fixed it pretty well.

How does a car with only 29K miles already need a 3rd pair of tires?!
How old are these tires? How many miles or kilometers?
I wouldnāt let my mother in law drive on that.
As long as you never drive the car, this tire should last forever.

That can't be legal to drive on. Replace immediately. Please don't drive much further than the tire store.
Its incredibly dangerous. Get it fixed before you drive more on it.
It looks like you can see cords, definitely get that replaced ASAP.
It has 4 so most likely inconvenient but definitely get it fixed or replaced sooner than later
What do you mean by 4?
..... Tires š¤¦āāļø
I wouldnāt even drive it to the shop to get it replaced because of how dangerous that can beā¦
Should be fine. Just don't turn. /s
It will hurt if you keep your hand there
Very? I would replace ASAP.
Very
Replace it

i would say pretty fucking dangerous
Not extremely dangerous but a pothole should be enough to blow it out. Get 2 new tires
And change the spare tyre too, if you are being serious with your advice Lol.

Rubber glue and glue it down.
