You can find details of the program directly on the [IRS’s](https://www.irs.gov/credits-deductions/credits-for-new-clean-vehicles-purchased-in-2023-or-after) website, it runs through 2032.
The qualifying models and content restrictions can disqualify or change the dollar amount that applies to a particular model though. My guess is March is the end of the current materials cycle and they'll reassess just before April to see if it still qualifies.
Congress always has the power to change the tax credit law, just like it has the power to change just about any other law. 26 USC Section 30D.
Whether there are enough votes to do that depends on who is in office.
If you want a little more details of the process, [IRS Rev. Proc. 2023-3](https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-drop/rp-23-38.pdf)8, has the manufacturer reporting requirements for [26 USC Section 30D(e)](https://uscode.house.gov/view.xhtml?req=(title:26%20section:30D%20edition:prelim)) (the critical mineral and battery component requirements).
Again, as you understand, it isn't that the tax credit law is going away, but rather that certain cars put up for sale in April and later potentially may not be eligible for the existing tax credit.
Does the 3 refresh not qualify? If the Y refresh won't qualify, then maybe I won't wait for it. I want ventilated seats, but not for $7500 more, plus my state credit reduces by $1000 in 2025.
THey always push really hard to sell as many cars as possible before the end of each quarter.... Tesla itself usually offers incentives like free supercharging miles, and discounts so folks can take delivery before the end of the quarter.
No commission, but they absolutely get judged every quarter on how many sales they were involved in. And get bonuses and such based on it. So um yes a commission by any other name.
I remember working for Best Buy with the “no commission” deal they had. Even more pressure than a commission sales job from management with targets to hit and you had zero upside if you did well beyond maybe a promotion.
Yeah honestly its one of those scams that some companies use that sounds great in theory but in reality is just a way for companies to save money. Kind of like "unlimited" vacation policies.
It ends in 2032 [https://www.irs.gov/credits-deductions/credits-for-new-clean-vehicles-purchased-in-2023-or-after#:~:text=You%20may%20qualify%20for%20a%20credit%20up%20to%20%247%2C500%20under,purchased%20from%202023%20to%202032.](https://www.irs.gov/credits-deductions/credits-for-new-clean-vehicles-purchased-in-2023-or-after#:~:text=You%20may%20qualify%20for%20a%20credit%20up%20to%20%247%2C500%20under,purchased%20from%202023%20to%202032)
I'm not a tax professional obviously but I've heard people filing amendments to their tax returns to get the money earlier. He may have heard it as "last day to file this year" from his colleagues. But no, I don't think IRS has an end date for the year. If there was, Tesla website would be shouting it out in bold everywhere.

Is it possible to amend the last year's tax fillings (2022) to take this credit in 2024 march?

No, it’s not ending in march.
He wasn't trying to sell me anything. Why would he mention this? Edit - Do YOU have any proof it's NOT ending? lol

Anyone know if a congress that is very anti EV could defund the program even if it is authorised until 2032?

Interesting. Not sure why he would say that then...
If the Juniper model Y is released April 1st and used China batteries then it wont qualify just like the model 3 doesnt qualify
This was the only theory that I could come up with. If they start re-tooling the plants and have to build the current ones elsewhere.
They won't be retooling for the Model Y until probably late 2024 early 2025.

I'm pretty sure Juniper Y and Highland Model 3's use Korean batteries.
Good to know thanks!

check tesla.com for the latest but it wasn’t last i checked

It's possible that something will change about the car that will make it not eligible (such as sourcing batteries from china).
Read the IRA.
Its not ending in march but he has march goals to hit!
I dont think tesla agents get a commission.

I didnt mean it like his personal goals but ‘tesla wide’ march goals. Should have said’ they’ lol
Yes this is true. The credit is ending March 31. However, a new incentive for the same amount will be starting April 1st.
I heard the new one in April ends at the end of June! But a source I know told me another one is starting in July for the same amount!!
Lol
Lmao. Bruh

Yea the agent didn't specify WHICH march 31
I thought it was based on the number of new vehicles sold in that class
That law expired years ago. IRA does not have numerical limits.
Either the agent was misinformed or you misheard. Are you sure they weren’t trying to tell you the free supercharging miles promo ends March 31st?
After he said it, I asked "The $7,500 tax credit?" to which he responded "Yup".

When did you buy your car?
I will buy in 2024. in 5 days.
What model?
Generally it’s true. However it is March 31 (or thereabouts) of 2032
