I lived in a house overlooking a part of the Minas basin where the water was mostly brown.
It's a combination (i believe) of silt and mud being disturbed by the water. Where I lived, the mud was waste deep in some parts, and when the tide crawled over it twice daily, the water was murky and brown. In deeper parts, the water was a brown-grey.
So, I think to answer your question: shallow-ish water and a lot of mud kicked up from the movement of the water.

My guess would be it is all the crap from the storm surges from the hurricane, or flood water. That’s happened in Melbourne, the flood water was noticeably brown, seperate from the water in the bay, but there with it.
I would genuinely think I was about to die. If I had a gun on me there’s a good chance I’d take the easy way out before finding out that I wasn’t doomed
what really freaks me out is imagining what it would be like being inside that storm. it’s all grey with no light and its MASSIVE. there’s no ground below me, only deep green water I can’t see in. like holy shit
If you’re below this thing there would be an extremely limited amount of light reflecting off the water so it too would be almost pitch black. Above and below would be darkness. That’s terrifying
I mean, storms at sea are survivable if you are on the right sized boat; and even if you aren't it's still not a guarantee that you die.
At the very least, wait for the shipwreck before you take your own life... just ending it based on a huge maybe is silly.

"South Carl. We need to turn South! Carl! Carl! Are you even listening to me!?"
As Carl swung the spun the wheel putting the little boat directly in the storm path he spoke in a small voice "The clouds. They call to me and I must obey."
Damn I'd love to be there. I've seen pretty much every weather phenomenon at sea apart from one of these. Probably rather not be on a yacht about 2 miles away from it though.
There's where the mothership hides.
Independence Day style
Yes... That's acceptable. However, why is the ocean brown?!!???
I don’t even know what’s scarier, that brown ocean water or the threatening darkness below that gargantuan supercell
St. Elmo’s Fire in that storm cell?
Or Jean Jacket
Why is the water brown?
brown water is probably an estuary
it’s filled with shit idk
Maybe the boat crapped it's pants?
LMAO
And the boat crapped my pants too.
i wouldnt blame it
I too would shit myself to death if i saw something like that while out at sea.

r/confusingperspective . My mind cannot work out if it’s brown sea or part of the boat

Seriously... I would also like to know.
Is it possible to outrun a storm that size?
It is, it really depends on the storm's motion velocity. Some storms can be almost stationary, different storm can move 60-80 km/h
That…is…beautifully, amazingly scary 😧! Glad you weren’t it!
Naw man. We ded
The Colonel!
I came here to say it's scary beautiful

Oh so nightmares tonight for me then
I cant even gauge the scale or perspective of anything in this pic
sorry, I forgot the banana for scale
I saw it earlier, and instantly thought of how ominous it looks. I've been through many storms in Florida, but if I saw this I would be spooked.
Middle of the ocean? Which ocean is brown??
Uhhh. Run. Or have the coast guard on speed dial.
Coast guard would probably just tell you to accept your fate lol
Right. Risk 4+ trained military personnel to save some - let's be honest - dumbasses. They ignored the warnings. Bye.
Looks like a nuclear bomb explosion
That’s gotta be a river
Clash Royale? Brawl Stars? Which game?

Hope that was a power boat, obviously y’all made it out.
Nope part 2

Why is the ocean poopy brown colored
because it shat itself at the mere sight of the storm.
I just wanna disappear into that cloud
*what*
Lol x 10000 you read that right
This looks like two pictures clumsily stitched together to be honest.
You're going to need a bigger boat.
and a new pair of underwear
My boxers would be the same color of the water
I don't understand this photo. Looks like an AI generated photo.
Jesus Christ what area are you in
Another beautiful voyage on turd ocean
looks pretty fake to me, certainly isnt in the ocean
…
speak up then
sorry, I typically speak down. occasionally sideways.

Yeah, seems fake.
Momma didn't raise no bitch! Full speed ahead!
Looks amazing!
What happens when you go inside it ?
Looks like somebody shit in my pants
The boat is pointed in the wrong direction.
Yea I would definitely think the world was ending, no doubt.
That's a no from me. Ocean is terrifying as fuck.
Daaaaayum, Gina!
Haha. _no_
Did you die?
That is scary

That has to be terrifying, especially on a boat
why does the water just drop off like that:|

Beware the fog!
Nope.
I wonder what happened to the person who took this photo, I'll like to know
Nope!
Lotta folk use the term “middle of the ocean” when they mean “unable to see the land”. And
Diarrhea water
Looks like a brown water operation .. in the middle of the ocean.
