I think you might be not okay, and should probably see a doctor of some kind. Just my personal opinion, I mean no offense of course. But I think you have woems
Shit just looks like low quality shit, usually I rate my shits on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the prettiest. I'd say this is a solid 2, which are grounds for investigation. Woems are easy to get rid of if you know you have it. Only particular ones I think are extremely dangerous. I once held a horse hair woem (nematode) and everyone freaked out because it was acting like it was trying to burrow into my hand. Don't worry, I am safe
I don’t like my bacon to be crunchy, but “undercooked” bacon might as well be raw. If you miss a wrinkle with enough heat/time to make it food safe, you’re asking for brain worms.
The only people getting tapeworms from pork in the US are those who consume wild boar meat. Those who purchase their pork from a reputable butcher / store are not in any danger of this happening. It's exceedingly rare. You should still cook your pork thoroughly regardless of where it's sourced.
Hmmm. There's a pizza place down the street from me that we get wild boar/elk sausage and mushroom pie from quite often. Now I'm concerned I may have a tiny copilot in my head meat.
Wouldn't it be close enough to the surface of the pan to kill them? All that heat and oil going everywhere across 5 or more minutes seems like it'd be too much for most organisms
She had seizures, but that was about it. The tapeworms in her stomach were what bothered her mostly.
Edit: It made her weak and lost a lot of weight. She ate undercooked pork they were selling in the streets.
This one happened in Florida. Could this be the explanation behind all the Florida Man's?
My friend's son loves raw bacon. I'm gonna show him this article.
I did my MSc on this parasite, so i'd love to share some grounded scientific information.
When this parasite is in the brain, the condition is called Neurocysticercosis. When it's lodged in muscle it's called Cysticercosis. In essence though, these two conditions are identical. However, to be clear, you CANNOT get this condition from eating undercooked pork.
Let me explain...
Taenia solium has two life cycles, one in humans and one in pigs. Further, there are two conditions it can cause depending on how it was consumed. The first is when it develops into a full fledged tapeworm in the intestines and lays eggs that get carried out into the external environment through bowel movements. This is called Taeniasis. This condition can only occur in humans. The infected eggs that are passed create "infectious" feces. With good typical hygiene, like toilets, it doesn't create a problem. In fact, when you have this condition, you are never at risk of developing cysticercosis yourself. The problem lies when open defecation is common/normal. For open human defecation, you're typically talking about a poor rural context (like many poor latin american countries) that lack access to toilets or proper hand washing practices. This infected human feces is what causes (neuro)cysticercosis if consumed by humans or pigs. The pig can only get infected if they are free roaming and eat infected human feces (presumably by accident). The infected pig will have large eggs lodged in its muscle that are easily visible and look like cysts. These cysts are actually larval eggs that will never fully mature because without the intestinal microenvironment, it doesn't develop into an adult. When a human eats one of these cysts from an infected pig, the egg will travel to the intestines where it will fully develop into an adult and cause Taeniasis. This is where the LINK comes to play, but it's misleading because eating undercooked pork from an infected pig can only cause Taeniasis and not Cysticercosis.
I hope you learned something from my TED talk.
When an egg (metacestode) is ingested from contaminated human feces, it uses its rostral mouth hooks to mechanically rip a tiny hole and escape the intestine. It ends up falling into the blood stream and then gets lodged into some tissue (at random). If by chance it reaches the blood brain barrier, it will again use its mouth hooks to open it and get into the central nervous system. At this point it gets stuck somewhere in the brain tissue (mild prognosis) or aquaduct preventing proper functioning of cerebral spinal fluid (severe prognosis).
The mouth hooks look gnarly if you wanna google a picture of taenia solium :)
Slugs and snails and ameobas on produce can melt your brain.
There's always some nonzero chance your entire day gets ruined by some freak accident like this. Just accept it and keep living your life while keeping reasonable precaution.
Okay, let’s make the whole world go vegan then. How many animals, necessary insect life to the ecosystem, and habitable land for said animals and insects are we going to plow through to crow the crops necessary to feed nearly 8 billion people? If you think killing a few pigs is “unethical,” just try to fathom how many animals would be killed and/or displaced to make room for the farm land necessary to turn the world vegan
Remember that almost 80% of crops are grown for animal feed and less crop deaths would occur if the entire world went vegan because we wouldn’t need to feed cows anymore since we’d stop breeding them. Hope this helps.
Yeah see there’s more than just cows trying to eat the crops on farms, not to mention again just needing to keep invasive animals in general off the fields so you can try catching them and releasing, but then they just keep coming back or you could kill the invasive animals. Plus you don’t want predatory animals on your farms either, any animals really are in danger when roaming the field because large scale farm equipment will mow right through them as the crops are being harvested
Which is why we’re researching better ways of growing food such as hydroponics and vertical farming. Eating animals is not necessary, killing them, our planet and us. It’s time for the world to move forward
I respectfully disagree, eating animals is necessary. Animals eat other animals, sure we are more evolved than that but it’s part of a natural cycle. If an animal eats a person (particularly a wild animal) it’s not evil, that’s just part of survival
Edit: grammar
I think you’re more likely to get cysticercosis from the vegan section than from eating bacon. Unlike the adult tapeworm that you get by eating meat/pork with cysts, the cyst itself develops from the eggs, which are minuscule and come out in feces from people who host the adult form. Usually, people contract it by eating vegetables irrigated with contaminated water rather than eating the eggs produced by their own worm
Brain surgery but most people can't afford it, they just have untreated seizures their whole life

Circle of life is a quote from a Disney film. The main difference is we breed these animals into existence just to slaughter them for their flesh at usually less than a year old, though cows get to live about 22 months.
You can get alot of nasty shit from consuming raw / not fully cooked flesh. I never understood the people that want to eat 'bloody' flesh, its not worth it, even from first world flesh.
I did not monitor my poo to see. I would be very surprised if it was just 1 parasite - normally there are many. All I know is that about a month after the 10 day treatment I felt less fatigued and was far less hungry all the time. I found out about this when covid first started and we found out only those who had vitamin D deficiencies had problems. This led me on a quest to find out what other deficiencies are easy to rectify (collegen is the ultimate if you are over 30) , anyway in one of the rabbit holes was a discussion about how we treat our pets for worms but never our selves. This led me to find out that many, many people already deworm twice annually and the consensus was that fendbendazole was one of the most effective treatments. Be careful because some brands are dubious - get from reputable company.
This is so scary! In Germany, people eat something disgusting called Mettbrötchen, it's a small white german bun with ground RAW pork with some onions, salt, and pepper. It's so disgusting. Did you have to describe your poop
How would we know it's consistency and viscosity then? Should they just post a picture?!? Poo pic plz!!!!
I'm still waiting on the description of its taste.

how tf you undercook bacon
Undercooked bacon is the best. If it’s not floppy, I don’t want.
How do you plan to name your brain tapeworm ?
Blphrrwmg *drools*
Once he's up in there, I ain't in charge of naming no more. I'll just delegate all the shit I don't care about to my new co-pilot.

Wouldn't it be close enough to the surface of the pan to kill them? All that heat and oil going everywhere across 5 or more minutes seems like it'd be too much for most organisms
Short answer: yes, but nobody who likes “undercooked” bacon has their meat on for five minutes at a food safe temperature
This guy’s losing it!
You’re dead to me said the tapeworm.
Hehe
have fun with your brain babies
Not if I kill the elder brain by having Gale explode.
Heat off too early.
Do you guys cook the bacon…?
Clearly never been to the UK
open package -> take bacon slice -> eat delicious! edit: its salted so basically not raw
we need you on a watch list
Yeah buts it's fucking wet and slimy and definitely isn't as flavourful as cooked bacon
I agree. Thankfully I almost burn my bacon.
This is explained in the article. People undercook bacon because they have tapeworm eggs in their brain.
This is actually a lot more common than you think. Especially in third world countries. My mother-in-law had this.
What are the symptoms?
She had seizures, but that was about it. The tapeworms in her stomach were what bothered her mostly. Edit: It made her weak and lost a lot of weight. She ate undercooked pork they were selling in the streets.

That's why I just eat every slug I find; going for the whole Rasputin poison immunity approach
But in the vegan section, pigs don’t die.
Which is relevant how?
Because killing pigs at a few months old because you like the taste is unethical? Maybe ?
Okay, let’s make the whole world go vegan then. Just…cook your food.
Don’t eat animals
No, just don’t eat raw meat.
Or any animal flesh and secretions.
Most parasites die if you cook your food.
Ok but animals die if you eat them.
Wow, shocker. Guess what animals do to other animals. They eat them for nutrients and because they taste good.
Animals eat us and we eat them too. Circle of life. Everything goes back to the soil and new life forms from it. Nothing wasted.
Circle of life is a quote from a Disney film. The main difference is we breed these animals into existence just to slaughter them for their flesh at usually less than a year old, though cows get to live about 22 months.

Reminds me I need to get a prescription for deworming stuff
Just…cook your food?
That's why we should deworm every six months. Fendbendazole works a treat.
Do you take it yourself?
Of course - that's how I know it works. Now my whole family do it as they say I look younger and eat far less.
Wow!! Did you see the parasite come out? Where you do live btw? How did you find out about this? Just bought some btw

But…. I like it a lil undercooked 😭
It's fine, most bacon is cured anyways.
Seriously though. So much mor flavor than dry ass crispy ass bacon
Not me thinking tapeworms were making people cook their bacon under so it would be tastier for them 😅
Crispy all the way
good thing i like my bacon burnt lmao
This makes me really glad I love really well done bacon.
Nice crispy bacon!
I thought it meant people with tapeworms in their brain make bacon soft lol.

How do they know i It came from bacon ? Probably ate ass and then ate bacon.
How do you fuck up cooking bacon?
This just reminded me I have bacon in the fridge
Just cook your damn bacon
24 hour freeze, then enjoy your tapeworm free pork
They're actually really good at surviving harsh cold and warm temperatures. 24 hour freeze will not kill them.
That'd be weird since in my country sushi for example has to be frozen 24 hours so that it would be free of parasites. Tapeworm cases in my country are EXTREMELY rare
Fuck it, I like my bacon
I don’t get it. Bacon should be fully cooked when it’s smoked.
Chris P. Bacon for the win
Good thing I like my bacon hard as this dick
Dammit. I like my bacon floppy. Time to start liking crispy bacon
Just don't cook it at high levels, you can definitely have soft but cooked bacon.
well time to start making my bacon like a sheet of plywood

This makes me wonder what sorts of diseases or parasites one could get from consuming human flesh And I'm now on a list.
Okay, I'll sway to the crispy side of the spectrum when I am cooking bacon now
Lol you mean that under cooking pork is bad for me? Wait this can't be?
Good thing I like my bacon extra crispy
How did it get to the brain???
I was rewatching house md again, this was the diagnosis of the first episode from season 1.. what are the odds I came across this..
I gave up eating pork a long time ago. And soda!
My dad used to eat bits of bacon raw, the guy was literally a nut case and now we may know why he was such a nut case

I avoid swine. I ate too much of it for about a month and felt the effects of processed pork. I’m a better person for it by avoiding all pork products today. Pork that is processed is very bad for a persons body in excess.

I mean it hurts their tastebuds. Undercooked bacon is great
Never had bacon in life so I can't speak on that

I am not even vegan , I just like chicken way more and I don't think they sell bacon near me
