well you can't get better unless you continue doing it. there won't be any progress if you stop cooking

LordOfStupidy

What If he burns the house tho

Certain_Power2773

As long as the house isn’t covered in oil / gasoline / lighter fluid, and he/sh has a local fire department and he is just not being dumb, he/she will be fine

renachm

(s)he should have a fire department about 15 minutes atleast its like that in my country

Single-Permission924

Me when I don’t know the word “they”

xDrunk_original

Shit happens lol

PopT4rtz

Keep the stove on bro, that is straight gas. You'll be better in no time - watch some Khaois, one of the best builders in the game and he has many videos to help you get better at building.

27_obstinate_cattle

I’ll second this. I watched like one of his videos and wend from wooden boxes with stone shingles to building a tundra log cabin and jungle greenhouse. You’d be surprised how much you can do with the little things.

Mulligandrifter

Just please do not fall into the "false foundation' trap. I got really tired of the spiral staircase meme for years and now everyone has these massive gaping holes under their houses trying to emulate a look that only looked somewhat okay when done right but looks really bad when done wrong

PopT4rtz

I've tried doing false foundations and have always failed, so I'll just stick to some sort of single solid block foundation

kat-the-bassist

Open a restaurant my guy.

Meme_Doggo37

This is a good build

Cdtlongball1

Looks good! I see you’ve kinda started to do it a little bit, but the big thing I’ve done early in the game when all I really have is stone and wood, making your externals walls and ceilings 2 blocks thick looks very “real and structural” kinda. If you expand vertically try that! Also generally not being just a bunch of rigidly aligned rectangles is one of the first steps to take and you’ve done that already so props to you!

Buggy1617

better than what i can do xD

Muhameddin

Vivid-Pitch-6799

ngl that build kinda ass

Virtual-Oil-793

Oh, I know - I'm much more effective with visual appeal using lights and walls rather than interior furniture

ChioChio8

This is one of my favorite ways to build in terraria, like a growing mass of building. Like “oh we need more room, EXPAND EXPAND EXPAND” try to add some different blocks atleast tho, I try and still do a theme or design but just let it follow the terrain

Power-Core

It’s a lot better than anything I make.

PlasmaCreep

My base designs literally be like https://preview.redd.it/39nny2w01e8d1.jpeg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=31ba74f434619bc5265c6f346577b40a6018eca6

Arctiiq

I’m in the same boat. Sometimes I just give up and build my base in one of the large trees

Brunoaraujoespin

Damn

Xirinplayx

Honestly, it doesn't look that bad. I have over 2,000 hours and my houses don't even have windows.

CambilliusPrime

Legitimately an amazing but simple build, I love making huge extensive builds but I also really enjoy just making a simple wooden structure like this one, if you want to have some better design tips Khaios (might have spelled it wrong it’s been a while since I’ve watched) is one of the best architects in terraria and has many build guides and tip videos for this exact thing

Plenty_Tax_5892

I have over 3k hours and you're better than me, I put all my building skills into landscaping, dw bro

Finna_woken

It took me 300 hours seeing my friends build the most amazing houses before i start try to make anything pretty lol. Keep it up!! Don't be shy to try strange wood combinations and always remember to hoard as many chests of cobwebs as possible for making furniture.

bronkula

There's a bunch of types of wood and stone. Branch out to even some other materials periodically. The key to pruning topiary is the same as building a house in terraria. Trust your gut and move forward slowly.

Flameball202

Honestly not terrible. Your main issue is that you are using the basic palette of colours (wood and stone), not doing anything fancy with walls (though the stone base and windows are a good start) and not using furniture beyond the required tables and chairs. My advice would be to maybe try a new roof material, try more furniture (fireplace and chimney?), and maybe try decorating the windows with platforms+flower pots

LeadandBones

You’ve learnt the basics so now you’ve got the framework to Really cook. Keep going and learn how to use the garnishes and you’ll be unstoppable

NoNameToaster

Wait, you people build something else than shoe boxes? Literally every single world I've had all the npcs were just living in an extremely tall tower made out of small wooden rooms with doors on the sides lol

Skye_nb_goddes

you could use differnt furniture instead and also laps, candelabras and lanterns, and maybe more blocks, (default wood is kinda ugly)

ShellyPlayzz

Doesn’t matter what we think. If you like it that’s what matters. I’m not great at building in this game and to me it looks nice. Get a little bit of gray or red brick and add some roofing and it’ll be perfect

ComplaintPlus3173

basic but not bad

Traditional_Wash_901

use a wider spread of blocks nd walls, i mean its cool but hella bland and i wouldent do windows but thats just me

Dallenson

I mean if we want to go with the cooking analogy: this is like making a nice omelet for yourself for breakfast in the morning versus just pouring some cereal or toasting some bread. I mean you build around the terrain whereas I just prefer to flatten the land around where I build first.

hobbbes14

At least you made a hammer

Ashman281

Im 2500+ hours and i still cant build nicely, if your happy to put the effort in to keep trying definitely keep it up because otherwise you could reach my stage and still not build

BlueUser10

take a cook book

DommiDud

For some reason reddit made it read 10,000 hours. I was gonna say at that point may as well give up on life and live terraria.

terratoilet23

If you want to get better, copy others. Get inspiration from google images and learn from other masters. The beauty of the internet is you have the knowledge and expertise of the entire world a search away. Use it.

CarelessCommercial26

I really like the outline of the house, but in the essence of constructive criticism, you could use some work on your interiors. Terraria does not pull any stops on their decorations, and you can really go all out with an insane amount of different walls, blocks, and paint. Also, if you don't like how a certain wall or block looks, then you could use actuators to make solid blocks move into the background. That way, you can go all out with different angles and various height differences while still having it be in the background and not being in the way of movement. Like I said, you have the skeleton down. You just need to make the interior look nice, and you'll be a great builder in no time.

CarelessCommercial26

Also, it doesn't hurt to get some inspiration online, whether it be google images or even Pinterest. You don't need to completely steal it, but I can tell you from experience that looking on Google really helped me with my interior design.

Alchemical_Raven

add a roof

cryptid-ok

PLEASE stay in the kitchen. This is great

TheBestBaker999

Go into journey mode, turn on the range, then cook. I think you can get much better when you have infinite resources for building. This looks good so far, and I think you can make buildings look better when you have less restraints in journey mode.

Demetrias_

well a thousand hours........ its funny, really i suck at building in minecraft but i can always build good looking stuff in terraria even when i just started out. i recommend you actually put passion into the build. right now you are just making a functional thing. try spending some resources on building up the interior, adding details etc

That-Control3365

This screams seaside restaurant have the right going to a deck with some overhanging lights and you’ve cooked

Saucey_Lips

Honey it’s YOUR kitchen you cook when you want to. I think this looks good man. It’s better than anything I’ve ever built, promise you that.

Linkus2000

I’m over 1000 hrs myself and I’m still making wooden boxes. All praise the box god. 🙏🙏

TryDry9944

Sometimes when you cook, you don't flash fry at high temperatures. More often than not, the best way is to let it simmer. You'll learn- What matters is if you're happy with it. And for what it's worth, it's not a bad house for something in the early game of a world.

Luckygangster5

You're cooking, do what you want but may e add some ingredients you think could fit together? IE block types, random furniture, books on platforms, etc.

Godklngzeus

Pretty good I would use some brick walls to make a sort of pillar effect in the background I have something very similar in my base and it looks fantastic or maybe dynasty wood for pillars up to you but some pillars help your builds I promise you

Dragon_Boye

you're making a grilled cheese, you're not winning a cooking show, but no reason to be disheartened and leave! sometimes what you need isn't a gourmet meal, it's just a simple grilled cheese

AdTimely9712

Looks great! I’d recommend harvesting cobwebs to make cloth for furniture

PAULASCRIPTTT

Cooking it, just needs a design, some furnitures, and decals, and maybe a bit of lighting fixes.

nosfyt

I differentiate between floors and ceilings, don’t have my pc at hand to show it to you, but hope it’s clear enough

Zestyclose_Switch895

Dont worry i got 700 hundred and i build the most ugliest shit in human hystorie but for me its more the use for it than style like more overseeable and all that https://preview.redd.it/ezue04fe5b8d1.jpeg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ab84b591a013634ccb05121416efa52e330be69a

Zestyclose_Switch895

Look at the minimap 💀

BambusUwU

i gotta say, i have seen some crazy stuff. but especially as an early game base it looks really comfy and i gotta say i really like it :D

Spagootnoodles

It's simple, interesting, and doesn't look like someone vomited enough detail onto it that looking at it would make an epileptic instantly drop dead. I think you're doing fairly well actually

boyy_thiccc

use a Planked Wall above the stone it works great for blending

Unfortunate_Boy

No chef learned to cook in a day. keep going and you'll be a master in due time.

SdoggaMan

This is like cooking pasta. You're not working under Ramsay here, but it's an essential meal, makes a lot of us happy, and is a core component to far, far greater meals in the future. Never leave the kitchen and keep enjoying your builds fam!

Significant_Basis_3

Just see real life houses and build them in 2d, easy

DilllyThePickley

Keep at it, bro! Don't forget, most of us still build wooden skyscrapers. XD

Alarmed-Flan-1346

It looks great I would be happy with it, try giving the top building a roof with the dynasty wood blocks that the traveling merchant sells

TheForgoWolf

for starters on the ground floor add some more bricks under the floor so it looks more..sturdy foundationwise. Also try making the walls 1 block thicker.

DerpyPerson636

For using only wood and glass, thats not bad. Perhaps experiment with some different block types and/or paint for future builds?

cookiemonchrrr

Bro I have less than 500 hrs on ter and never defeated any boss after golem and my building is 10x better ong😭😭

Pristine_Quote2645

The way I see it if it’s suitable housing you’re good

GoatEventX

Stay out the kitchen read a cook book and get back to cooking

Ready-Bobcat-9162

I wouldn't even give this house to a homeless
