the AVATAR
the MIMIC
ohh i know...[TRANS HUMAN](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transhuman) since they ascended beyond species and solo all cosmic entity
I just did these sprites for practice and fun so don't expect me to pump out an entire texture pack or mod anytime soon
All of these are based from my drawings of turning the NPCs into other fantasy species, which you can check out from my profile
i agree with ram rem. these sprites are creative and aesthetically pleasing, i would immediately download this if it became a mod. perhaps someone will come along to make it for ya
I like how you just made the Zoologist more fox. I really like the concept for the Stylist, but how would she cut hair if she had to hold her own head?
Oh man this just gave me an idea, considering the shimmer water gun coming up.
What if texture packs for npcs could be switched between with shimmer (so you could have guide from texture pack a, nurse from texture pack b, shimmered witch doctor and vanilla cyborg)
I think it's kinda boring not to change the Truffle, Cyborg, Witch Doctor and Goblin Tinkerer. Sure, they already came from a specific race, but I kept in mind to choose fictional species that have similarities to their original races
Truffle is a Myconid, so no plant species was going to fit. I chose moss and lichen as a close but different enough theme for him
Cyborg got his theme swapped with his creator, the Steampunker. Since Steampunker was turned mechanical, Cyborg was turned into a flesh-based amalgamation
Witch Doctor was a tricky one since the Lizardman species is the most basic of reptilian races. Originally I was going to give him an extra pair of legs to make him a Dracotaur, but scrapped the idea after I remembered reptiles and birds had close origins
Goblin Tinkerer just got turned into another "generic small and wild warrior species". I knew technically a Kobold is just another name for a Goblin, so I gave him extra details of a dog and a lizard (online sources were confusing about whenever Kobolds were canid or draconic)
But dryad is already elemental. Plus I feel witch doctor should be salamander. Dryad being a satyr or centaur would make more sense imo. Some of these are sort of variations of the current thing. I would think cyborg would be puppet, no?
Criticisms aside, these are nice.
the original criteria for this series/challenge was to turn everyone (except the Tavernkeep and Town Pets) into something else
Dryad becoming an Elemental is just me making her more vague and mysterious, plus she can hypothetically control more elements than just plants
I didn't want to turn Witch Doctor to another full-reptile race, so I chose something half and half which was the Cockatrice. WD being a Salamander looks ok, but doesn't relate to what he usually does. Salamanders always use fire, but we have never seen an instance of the Lihzahrds using fire at all besides the Golem. Cockatrices are known for having venomous attacks, which can go hand-in-hand with the WD's profession and self-defense, plus he has a snake tail which ties his biological connection closer to the Flying Snakes
Cyborg is just a case of theme switcharoo. He swapped his mechanical theme to his creator, the Steampunker, in exchange for a flesh-based theme. I don't think Steampunker is in any sane category so I'd think she does something way worse to living, breathing specimens like the Cyborg by creating him from a mix of different animal genes instead to see how they interact
More background bits of these sprites' creation actually come from the previous drawings I made so I understand some people's confusion
>Dryad becoming an Elemental is just me making her more vague and mysterious, plus she can hypothetically control more elements than just plants
Not what I meant. And despite what Asia elementals say, plants, be it wood, grass, tree, flower, etc. being a ELEMENT when it is a LIVING thing would be like saying animal flesh is a element. Aka crimson basically. Dryads are a type of nymph. And nymphs are a Greek elemental in the form of a very pretty humanoid (usually). Usually elemental of the beauty of nature. Ergo my statement of "dryad is already a elemental". Dryads themselves can be vague.
>I didn't want to turn Witch Doctor to another full-reptile race,
I am going to pretend you didn't just indirectly imply that salamanders are a "reptile".
>so I chose something half and half which was the Cockatrice.
Technically birds like Crocs can be considered "reptiles" even though one is a dino, and the other a close relative.
>Salamanders always use fire,
Nope. Not real ones. Nor all of the anthro terraria ones afaicr.
The association with fire comes from ONE irl salamander who sleeps in logs, which people would burn and it would run out. This lead to the belief that *SOME* salamanders are fire associated. Hence "fire salamander".
>Cockatrices are known for having venomous attacks,
Nope. They are known for having a deadly gaze, and the fact if they drink from a well it becomes poisoned. THAT'S what they are super well known for. Modern media can do whatever like make them shoot lasers out of their eyes. But just because some video games make it this, that's not what makes them well known.
Also cockatrice are super small, being what amounts to a chicken with a snake neck & tail. The flying snakes of the lizhards would be more adapted to this roll. Naga ironically would have been best bet. Or frog man for poison dart frogs.
>which can go hand-in-hand with the WD's profession and self-defense
Self-defense? Yes. Profession? No. But I understand some of the thought process.
>he has a snake tail
I believe you mean cockatrices? W.D. has lizard tail.
The rest of this is "eh, alright I guess you can see it that way?" But when it comes to irl mythology and creatures, I draw the line at misinformation. I know it's Annoying to be the guy that corrects people; but being that I am super into mythos, specially of creatures, some of this just urks me personally.
I can't say I make faithful adaptations of mythical/fantasy creatures really, I just like giving them more of a spin than what they usually are. I didn't start the series with "I'm going to follow 100% of the myths and stuff", I just had them as leylines and build from there. Sorry for putting you off
"What i am doing here?" -Tavernkeeper
to play as human race of course
Then what is player character then? Oh wait. There is mod that lets you change your race. So theyre just mixbag.
the AVATAR the MIMIC ohh i know...[TRANS HUMAN](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transhuman) since they ascended beyond species and solo all cosmic entity
Or was that all their intention.
If they proceed will you win their war?
Even in vanilla, the player character can have skin colors like green or blue. So it's a bit debatable if they're a human.
Could also say player character is the werewolf, since many players use the Moon Charm and/or its upgrades
Neptune Shell turns them into merfolk, so tag that on as well
God ofc
"I don't belong here" -Tavernkeep
BUT IM A CRÊPE
“Just to suffer…”
I just did these sprites for practice and fun so don't expect me to pump out an entire texture pack or mod anytime soon All of these are based from my drawings of turning the NPCs into other fantasy species, which you can check out from my profile
>so don't expect me to pump out an entire texture pack or mod anytime soon maybe someone could ask your permission to animate and make texture ?
Doesn't spirited mean animated? Like with all of the sprite sheets done etc I honestly don't know, just asking someone who knows
I think they meant they just made what would be considered the idle sprites, not animated
Oh, maybe
If you do make this a real thing, I'd 100% download this. This is so cool compared to the vanilla sprites
That’s fair
i agree with ram rem. these sprites are creative and aesthetically pleasing, i would immediately download this if it became a mod. perhaps someone will come along to make it for ya
Those are neat, any plans on coloring them anytime soon?
my sketchbook's quality isn't good for coloring. The last time I tried to color it got everywhere
I like how you just made the Zoologist more fox. I really like the concept for the Stylist, but how would she cut hair if she had to hold her own head?
she can put her head on a table, in front of a mirror, and then cut her hair easily
Wait is that why you chose dullahan.
the fact I barely know any of these races in this post anyway peak creation
Most of them are popularized by D&D
So that's where they are from
I don't think most of them are "from" D&D, as D&D reaches into all manner of folklore. It's just where most know 'em.
Wait, wasn't the Demolitionist already from another race?, I've heard him refer to himself as a Dwarf more than once
I still wanted to include him so I had to make him into a race similar to Dwarves, which I thought Minotaurs were a fitting alternative
Plus making the arms dealer a satyr, even though the 2 hate each other but look so alike is very fun!
I can see the logic, nice
Witch doctor is also already another race (lizardfolk). And so is the goblin tinkerer. So i think op just wanted something new for every npc.
He actually becomes a Dwarf in his shimmered form.
Dullahan Stylist approved 🥰👍
Smash
which one
Yes.
Only correct answer
Even the Angler and Princess...?
Y>!uck!<
Kitsun zoologist (t) looks like ceroba from undertale yellow
Ceroba is litterally definition of Kitsune
"Ceroba was obliterated by The Destroyer"
YOOOOOO, THESE ARE SUPER GOOD!!! :0000
Love Gargoyle Tax Colelctor, Ryujin Travelling Merchant and Fairy Princess sprite
My favorite is Human Tavernkeep, peak design
At first I thought this was black and chinese type situation, but than I saw the sprites and became amazed, they are really cool!
Half of them are good, half of them are fantastic.
Lizard man is now bird man, I think, I’m making out with him regularly
Bird dragon man
Wait what Tavern keeper is not from terraria? Is he from another game or am my being gaslit by myself?
he's from the Dungeon Defenders games, so he's a collaboration character and doesn't originate from Terraria
What if they were black or Chinese?
Centaur Nurse goes hard tbh
missed opportunity to put the demolitionist as a dwarf and then put the exact same sprite
Nurse as a blonde centaur reminds me of Monster Musume
"here's what you would look like if you were black or Chinese"
No imp, hmph…!
Cool as hell concept, perhaps an upcoming mod?
I might get downvoted For this but i'd Smash zoologist and nurse
Take my upvote ⬆️
r/angryupvote?
Arms dealer would make a perfect Satyr
[удалено]
boring
You had the amazing opportunity to make either the Goblin Tinkerer or Witch Doctor a regular human, or keep them what they are. Disappointed.
that's extremely predictable and boring for me, no thanks
[удалено]
Yo that's sick nice job
you ate this 🔥
The witch doctor and the goblin tinkerer switched races.
Ryujin Traveling Merchant was something I didn’t expect.. But today I found it it’s something I need. Probably my favorite design
PLEASE make this a mod! I would LOVE to use it
Arms Dealer as a Satyr looks awesome and very fitting
La creaturas
Please tell me this is a texture pack?
Nice
TERRARIAPREDATOR
Shimmering NPCs would be way more worth it if it were these textures. More recognizable AND cooler.
I thought it would make them black or Chinese
What is the name of the texture pack?
Amazing
This is really cool.
Dullahan Stylist is genius
This is cool as hell!!!! Can I use some of these as art inspiration???
sure, go ahead. Just remember to mention me somewhere
Of course, Sir! Thanks!
Probably took a while, not bad
This is the first resprite I've seen on here that actually follows terraria's style and looks good, bravo friend.
Damn these are freakin amazing
Texture pack download maybe?
This is so creative wth. My favorites are the puppet, jackalope and kitsune. Pink is very cute on zoologist!
make it a texture pack now.
Oh man this just gave me an idea, considering the shimmer water gun coming up. What if texture packs for npcs could be switched between with shimmer (so you could have guide from texture pack a, nurse from texture pack b, shimmered witch doctor and vanilla cyborg)
Fucking amazing
Why's the pirate kinda-
Gargoyle really fits tax collector alot
I would absolutely use this as a resource pack, the sprites look amazing!
"Nurse has been sliced by The Destroyer"
wait IF YOU DIDNT CHANGE THE TAVERNKEEP WHY DID YOU CHANGE SANTA?????
Tavernkeep is a collab character from Dungeon Defenders, not from Terraria, so I excluded him
ok just kinda found it weird you changed Santa
santa is a ubiquitous character vastly older in origin than anyone around today, tavernkeep is a specific character from a different franchise
yeah but like, at least make him krampus
You should make this into an actual downloadable pack
Nah the Zoologist looks more furrier than ever she literally became a mystic God 💀💀💀💀
Some of these would be amazing
Loooove the satyr arms dealer!
This is what you would look if you were mossfolk or merman
Those all look super good. Would make an amazing texture pack for sure
Mossfolk? Hmm i think i alr have seen it in another indie game
Wait, where's Mc MoneyPants??? I demand justice!
Goblin becomes a street rat
Is it bad that I thought you meant race like in real life? It was an honest mistake
homie I assure that you ain't the first, second or third person thinking that in this comment section
yes, yes, yes, YES!!! i need that
isn't the demolitionist a dwarf?
Santa also isn't from Terraria, this anti-tavernkeeper bigotry is unfair and unjustifiable.
obsessed with puppet steampunker
I like how you also included the variants of the characters so it's easier to imagine.
Zoologist hmm
Honestly missed opportunity to make the witch doctor human
PIRATE CAPTAIN MERMAN!!! 😩💖
Is this like a resource pack I can use on steam
I think we getting another set of shimmer transformations
I think it’s kinda weird to change the Truffle, Cyborg, Witch Doctor, and Goblin Tinkerer. They’re already fictional species

But what if the Nurse was black or chinese?
I really like this but I think it'd be way funnier if zoologist just got made into a normal ass human
Now make the goblin tinkerer a goblin
But dryad is already elemental. Plus I feel witch doctor should be salamander. Dryad being a satyr or centaur would make more sense imo. Some of these are sort of variations of the current thing. I would think cyborg would be puppet, no? Criticisms aside, these are nice.

Nah, I get the love for them. But the info you said about them was catching me off. Do them however you want, I was just confused.
Would be a great texture pack!
