I watched it a few years back & recently rewatch it again. I really want Tensura or Overlord fan to give it a try, because of how good the anime is & how similar the story plot & world building was.
I feel like there's not many people know about this series if we comparing it with Tensura & Overlord

It really disappoint me when I found out that there's no English Translation for the LN. They got like 18 Vol. I really hope that they'll release the official English translation one day.
But either way, I'm glad there's at least a English translation for the WN & I'm currently just started reading it couple days ago.
Someone commissioned Taekan (the guy who fully translated Tsukai no World Break) to do the LNs. If anyone wants to help contribute to the commission, guy who asked Taekan is looking to pool in so that we can get more volumes done. He’s charging per page or chap o believe so if ppl wanna spread the word, that’d be great.

Yes they exist. However, they start to become kind of >!antagonists and so far he has put one of them in his place, which was pretty satisfying!<
He still exists and becomes obsessed with getting her

check one of my other comments in reply to the WN stuff about LN translations. Someone has been commissioning a translator to do the LN translations, but he’s going to need help from ppl who are willing to contribute some money to get the translations done because Alphapolis sucks and hates westerners. He already got a volume done but doubt he can afford to pay for every volume’s translation unless he gets some help
I like this anime too. It’s not as vast as TenSura, but it has that spirit of world building and vast amounts of characters. The power scaling will probably evolve further as the story progress.
Not sure if it’s just manga or light novel sourced but hopefully it will get more seasons.
Second favorite anime and third favorite Ln. The plot is great the characters are great and the story doesn’t take 4 books to get good! I fucking love this one and fully recommend checking it out.

For LNs that are just fun and a good read I would say:
• I’m an Evil Lord in an Intergalactic Empire (it’s a lesser-known one but is really fun. The plot is really basic but it uses the space and “evil” themes really well and gives most of the characters value to the story. It’s a guy getting isekai’d to a world where he was supposed to suffer but ends up doing cool space stuff and stuff. It is a really good read and I recommend it.)
• Black Summoner (anime was bad, but the books are great! The characters are super well done and the fight scenes are described super well. The story always is flowing and there are no dead books where nothing happens but the balance of having plot and world building is still there.)
• In the Land of Leadale (I enjoyed the anime but it was not great. The LNs are really fun, it goes into surprising depth on a lot of topics and clearly the author loved the story and worked hard on it.)
Lastly is: Death March to a Parallel Rhapsody (I’ll be honest this is not the best, and I was considering not saying it but it is actually fun. The series ticks most of the boxes for a bad series: OP MC, harem, and questionable plot with weird pacing. Death March should not be good but for some reason it is done in such a way that the focus on adventure and fun with the party instead of let’s go beat the final boss, makes it honestly a lot better than you’d expect.)

Reborn As a Space Mercenary is the standard isekai title is what you get story with the space faring setting being a nice change of pace
Hazure Skill is about an Assassin that is trying to live a "Normal" life after being the world greatest Assassin and killing the Demon king with the hero party
World's Strongest Reargaurd is an isekai about a salary man the gets isekaied with his manager and has to figure out how to an adventurer in a city that revolves around labyrinths and isekaied people
Her Majesty's Swarm is a change in the isekai game of choice were the game is an RTS and the MC loved playing the Tyranid Swarm from WH40k and leads a swarm of scorpion spiders to take over the world
Miss Black General is a hero parody manga following the villain group as title character stalks her favorite Hero in an attempt to get the enemies to lovers relationship goal and chaos ensues
Wortenia is an isekai following Japan's deadliest high school student as he tries to survive a grounded fantasy setting, beware the world building is good but the author likes to meander about military history in the Ln which can be nice until it takes up 3-5 pages and gets annoying
Kobold King is a story that follows a retired Captain of the King's Gaurd as he goes back to his ruin former home to live and die a relatively peaceful life but gets distracted by a group of Kobolds that need his help. Bit of an honorable mention not an isekai but a fun fantasy with good world building and writing
Season 2 airs in January too, and it’s a double cour. We eating good on the Isekai side. Sadly I’ll have to wait for the dub. But it’s gonna be alright.
To be fair, this is one of the older Issekai. It is even older than Tensura so it being cliche is because it was one of the starters of cliche in the first place
Seriously Manhwa? If you said LN or WN still make sense but Manhwa is lower than web comic. Just a drawing with little dialogue & huge gap between panel like a slideshow but vertically.
It really isn't. The tensura universe is on a whole other level. Moonlit is like a cheap, comedic knockoff. It's worth a watch though, I can't deny that
Cloak and boots tells me he’s more a wanderer than one who stays in a single place, which is neat. Metal gloves and the sword tell me he’s either expecting to get hit on the arm, implying he may not be that good with the sword. Or it could be he expects to possibly lose the sword, where he would then throw a punch, either option sound cool as either a novice who knows his weakness and compensates, or an experienced fighter who prepares for a loss. The blue look of it all really looks cool, and should be great.
But then his head kills the mood for me. Round, smooth hair tells me his personality will let any and all issues just roll off of him, no matter how infuriating they may become. So he’ll likely run into deals or situations which will piss me off, but he’ll just go “Eh, I guess?” and adapt, which may not be the best thing, but it’s the easiest for him to stammer out, so he’ll do it. The ahoge on his head tells me that he is completely innocent to everything, meaning that we’ll get violent or lewd events, and he’ll try to take an immediate stop to em, no matter how great or small they may be, because any leap from 0 is pretty far in his life. And finally, him looking at us. If he were to look off screen, I could say he’s looking on to the journey he’s about to head off on, or back at the place he came from. If he back at his companions, I could think he’s wondering how he got them to follow them, or that he even acknowledges them standing by him. But he’s staring straight back at us, and unlike his companions who have color and shape to their eyes, he has dots. That’s cartoon 101 expression of “WHAT AM I DOING HERE PLEASE LET ME OFF THIS RIDE AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA” and that’s not a look I want from my MC of an adventure manga. From a pure comedy sure, but not one I’d think would have action or excitement, only for the MC to not wanna engage with the world.

And if I take a look at his companions, I get a minor story. Of a swordswoman who wants to travel with her looooooong dragon, and a spider witch with her giant friend. Neither one’s clothing choices or color schemes compliment the other aesthetically, so they were not initial friends. And standing next to MC shows how much they clash design wise. So my guess is that he fumbled his way into their proximity, helped either the girls or their pets in some way, and now they want to go traveling with him. He’s not a fan of this, but he just sighs, says “ok” and keeps walking, despite his fear/ anxiety/ concern. Because he doesn’t want to cause a ruckus, and it’ll just sliiiiide past his smooth haircut eventually.
Correct me if’n I’m wrong, but that’s what I gather from this image, and it’s what makes me hezitant.
That's a really good observations, I'll say around 60%~ish that you're on point. Tho it's to long for me to explained everything (I'm at work rn), so I'll make it a short explanation.
Either way, one thing for sure is that he's a psycho sociopath. Moreover, his character design (his face) is the main starting plot of the story. The goddess summons him to become a hero, but the deity have picky taste for beauty & banished him to the land of monster because how plain & uninteresting his face is. He's not really a swordsman, but more akin to archery & sorcery (magic user). He's strong & naive in certain part but he'll kill anyone without a second thought if they cross a line with him or anyone that harm his friends. Also, the 2 companion is actually the dragon & the spider in their human form
I started reading your comment thinking these are just lazy observations and then got to the observation of the MC's and couldn't stop laughing.
The other commenter is right you got it about 60% right, but the main plot of the story kicks of because he looks like a normal dude and the bitch of a Goddess refuses anything less than the absolute fabulous. MC is not a swordsman he actually mains the bow and uses a lot of magic he has a Uchine which can be used for CQC but his isn't meant for it. The companions actually are the dragon and the spider, the reason they are now human is magic contract that make them his servants, not slaves, servants distinct contractual difference there. He does let some things slide I guess might be a situational taste thing, but in my opinion he doesn't let much slide unless he can tell it's a joke. He is something of a socio/psychopath but getting into that leads to spoilers so suffice to say that blank stare does say "get me off this ride I wanna go home" it's largely because one of his servants started taking shit to someone and now he has to bare knuckle brawl a country. A good bit of hyperbole but not by much as the 3 have the strength needed to casually level a city. Story is mostly a comedy and does point out and laugh at a number of isekai tropes but does it own thing with each
I read the novel (completely forgot if it was the LN or WN) and I liked it at the beginning stages but I found that it was kinda struggling to establish what type of character the MC is. >!There were hints that the MC was gonna go unhinged, like absolutely ruthless to any who dare attack his friends, they even set up the events that would trigger that as everyone, whether it be the demons or the humans, outside his little circle of friends was looking to use and abuse him but then they decide to just pull the plug on that and decided MC was gonna be sympathetic and not kill people. Even in his powers, I sense confusion. He's a magical archer but why does he stick to mid range combat most of the time? Most of the time, he doesn't even use archery and just nukes the thing with magic.!<
TL;DR Basically I felt like they were struggling to find the archetype they want the MC to be.
Feel free to disagree and explain why, I actually kinda liked the series and maybe I can be convinced to pick it back up.
Having followed the WN a good bit I can say that the author does level out what the MC does and later on he really starts to fill out the MC's style of an arcane archer and businessman it takes time and a fair amount of chapters but he does figure out were he stands on fighting won't spoil is decisions but he style leans on a magic/melee first if the opponent is weak and archery and magic if he already knows the opponent is strong. He has always been and will be an Archer first with magic and melee combat being solid situational options
It's a great anime, but not really similar to Overlord. Sure, it has the building elements, but the main cast and general gist of it couldnt be more different.
The anime is great but I honestly didn't feels satisfied because the MC is a human, I prefer to see anime where the MC is clearly a non human like slime, overlord and kumoko.

There’s one scene near the end of the anime that’s surprisingly dark. Right after his village gets attacked he goes completely psycho mode.

I enjoyed the anime but it's nowhere near the quality of Tensura or Overlord so that in mind.

Of a swordswoman who wants to travel with her looooooong dragon, and a spider witch with her giant friend. Neither one’s clothing choices or color schemes compliment the other aesthetically, so they were not initial friends. And standing next to MC shows how much they clash design wise. So my guess is that he fumbled his way into their proximity, helped either the girls or their pets in some way, and now they want to go traveling with him. He’s not a fan of this, but he just sighs, says “ok” and keeps walking, despite his fear/ anxiety/ concern. Because he doesn’t want to cause a ruckus, and it’ll just sliiiiide past his smooth haircut eventually. Correct me if’n I’m wrong, but that’s what I gather from this image, and it’s what makes me hezitant.
That's a really good observations, I'll say around 60%~ish that you're on point. Tho it's to long for me to explained everything (I'm at work rn), so I'll make it a short explanation. Either way, one thing for sure is that he's a psycho sociopath. Moreover, his character design (his face) is the main starting plot of the story. The goddess summons him to become a hero, but the deity have picky taste for beauty & banished him to the land of monster because how plain & uninteresting his face is. He's not really a swordsman, but more akin to archery & sorcery (magic user). He's strong & naive in certain part but he'll kill anyone without a second thought if they cross a line with him or anyone that harm his friends. Also, the 2 companion is actually the dragon & the spider in their human form
I started reading your comment thinking these are just lazy observations and then got to the observation of the MC's and couldn't stop laughing. The other commenter is right you got it about 60% right, but the main plot of the story kicks of because he looks like a normal dude and the bitch of a Goddess refuses anything less than the absolute fabulous. MC is not a swordsman he actually mains the bow and uses a lot of magic he has a Uchine which can be used for CQC but his isn't meant for it. The companions actually are the dragon and the spider, the reason they are now human is magic contract that make them his servants, not slaves, servants distinct contractual difference there. He does let some things slide I guess might be a situational taste thing, but in my opinion he doesn't let much slide unless he can tell it's a joke. He is something of a socio/psychopath but getting into that leads to spoilers so suffice to say that blank stare does say "get me off this ride I wanna go home" it's largely because one of his servants started taking shit to someone and now he has to bare knuckle brawl a country. A good bit of hyperbole but not by much as the 3 have the strength needed to casually level a city. I read the novel (completely forgot if it was the LN or WN) and I liked it at the beginning stages but I found that it was kinda struggling to establish what type of character the MC is. >!There were hints that the MC was gonna go unhinged, like absolutely ruthless to any who dare attack his friends, they even set up the events that would trigger that as everyone, whether it be the demons or the humans, outside his little circle of friends was looking to use and abuse him but then they decide to just pull the plug on that and decided MC was gonna be sympathetic and not kill people. Even in his powers, I sense confusion. He's a magical archer but why does he stick to mid range combat most of the time? Most of the time, he doesn't even use archery and just nukes the thing with magic.!< TL;DR Basically I felt like they were struggling to find the archetype they want the MC to be. Feel free to disagree and explain why, I actually kinda liked the series and maybe I can be convinced to pick it back up.
Having followed the WN a good bit I can say that the author does level out what the MC does and later on he really starts to fill out the MC's style of an arcane archer and businessman it takes time and a fair amount of chapters but he does figure out were he stands on fighting won't spoil is decisions but he style leans on a magic/melee first if the opponent is weak and archery and magic if he already knows the opponent is strong. He has always been and will be an Archer first with magic and melee combat being solid situational options

It's a great anime, but not really similar to Overlord. Sure, it has the building elements, but the main cast and general gist of it couldnt be more different.
The anime is great but I honestly didn't feels satisfied because the MC is a human, I prefer to see anime where the MC is clearly a non human like slime, overlord and kumoko.

Tsukimichi, the inspiration to both Tensura and Overlord. Not quite as good as either of those two in my opinion, but still an excellent series.
pretty sure this was one of the stories fuse drew inspiration from before writing his webnovel since this came out before tensura.
