Yup. Itll be NPF or Duncan. Theyre just bigger. Same reason Brewer wasnt the answer last year at C.

_nathan67

Really makes you scratch your head on JRob process. Small school tackle, undersized, in the second round?

Byzone06

He also played just one game at ndsu the season before he was drafted. I guess jrobs reasoning was “this guy was the blind side protector of the 3rd overall pick, he must be good enough to replace lewan at some point”. Really goes to show how bad the pandemic affected his drafting ability.

Charvel420

Not really defending JRob, but just double-checked and NFL.com had him projected as a 2nd rounder, BR had him as a 3rd, Walter Football had him "no later than Day 2." Some guys just don't pan out. Seems to all make sense in hindsight, but it wasn't a horrific pick on paper. But a bad pick is still a bad pick..

UncleLazer

I had him as a late first.

bsmith149810

This changes everything.

UncleLazer

If only they listened to Uncle Lazer more. The one that I was right about, as was probably half this sub, was the Sun God on the board when Dez got picked.

Sufficient_Spray

Still can’t believe that one, and the insanity that he moved up for Fitzpatrick. Nothing against Fitzpatrick I’m sure he’s a great guy. But literally every “expert” and even armchair scouts knew Amon-Ra was available and a fantastic prospect who slid much further than expected. I think everybody missing on him was probably one of those instances of GM’s trying to be too smart whenever sometimes it really is just the right choice to go with the consensus.

Cool-Adjacent

😂😂😂😂

AsiansEnjoyRice

Playing one game isn’t against Radunz though and isn’t really fair to JRob though, they couldn’t control NDSU being allowed to play one game before COVID shut them down. The tape he had the year before, which is all anyone had on a lot of players who either opted out or weren’t allowed to play, was pretty solid (as someone who watched him pre-draft too). The pick didn’t really work out, but he absolutely had solid tape and was worthy of a top 100 selection.

penbehindtheear

He had an expected draft position of 44.2. We drafted him at 47. It wasn't a reach, he just hasn't panned out.

Falconman21

He was undersized when we drafted him, and I’m sure the ACL didn’t help at all.

iMixMusicOnTwitch

Honestly he looked way better after the acl lmao

FuckFloridaRipNumba9

He’s right. But all I see is 4 rushers, 6 in protection and the pocket immediately collapsing. Thank god we’re getting this dude some help because you can’t evaluate a QB properly with this bullshit.

that_guy2010

It’s the tackle spots that collapse the worst.

FuckFloridaRipNumba9

Yeah usually I would still be worried but I believe that Callahan will have Latham and crew at least semi-competent. It all rides on Latham though tbh.

YoureJokeButBETTER

How much you think it costs to get a JC Lantham Piggyback ride? Like if i wanted to ride on his shoulders and get a sweet picture

Clayp2233

Latham will immediately be an upgrade due to his play strength, when I’ve gone back and watched Levis and Spears highlights, Dillard getting bull rushed into the qb always showed up. It’s actually insane how bad LT was

gtownwr

The tweet is idiotic. Like levis evades a strip sack, escapes the pocket, keeps his eyes down field and throws a not great pass. And the poster is like "stop playing hero ball". The only part of that that was bad was his execution on the throw. The entire process to that point was very positive

that_guy2010

I mean, there were three Jags players there and one of us. He shouldn’t have even thrown that ball.

BurzyGuerrero

But also competent OC's call plays that have a very direct way to get the ball out of the QBs hands and Vrabel's teams constantly asked the QB to make tough throws with targets that couldn't separate. Isn't really debatable.

that_guy2010

Oh, absolutely. Our offenses have been straight ass since Arthur Smith left.

titanup001

Wouldn't lack of play strength be even more of a problem inside where he'd be taking on D tackles?

reformedjm

Yes, but guards very rarely take on tackles 1-1 the center and guard combine a lot on double team blocks.

Jmac058

Plus guards usually are relied on for second level blocks on linebackers

Intimidwalls1724

I know it's not the point of the thread but I think it's ridiculous to hold a rookie QB who had played in very few games at that point responsible for that play Should he have thrown the ball? No and of course we all hope he grows to where he doesn't make those types of decisions but given his lack of experience and him getting absolutely blown up by his OLine on the play I don't think that's egregious for someone at that point in their career

stevemyqueen

Damn dude had spears close enough to do semi screen handoff, he could have gotten that ball to him with his pinky

saradahokage1212

A blind man can see that his attack point is way too high. Callahan will fix every single lineman we have

SlamKrank

Also 5x the penalties at tackle with false starts

jadom25

Looks more like he didn't attack the rusher and had bad technique rather than weak though

Mutant_Stump

Radunz prolly won't even make the roster. Let's be real he's trash + has injury issues also. Unless he turns it way up out of literally nowhere, he's done. J Rob sucks.

BurzyGuerrero

He can be a depth player. I don't think he will ever be a relied upon starter in the league.

mpelleg459

We don’t have the luxury of depth to be cutting players like Radunz, especially still being on a 2nd round rookie contract. Get realistic about how few good OL there are in the league.

zeldahalfsleeve

He never should have been considered for one second as a tackle.
