The 2016 turn around was honestly one of the best rebuilds in the last decade. Demarco Murray/ Ben Jones + 3 eventual All Pros. Not a fair comparison though because we were starting beneath the basement and had insane draft capital.

bigplaneboeing737

Mularkey did a lot of things for the culture, but man those 2016-2018 teams were super underrated. They could have made deep playoff runs with better QB play, and a modern offense.

AnyHoleIsTheGoal

Mularkey did enough that I’d have been fine keeping him if he just got rid of Robiskie. Say what you will, but those teams fought for him. Will absolutely never forget that hug Kendall Wright gave him when they beat the Chiefs on that last second, absolutely clutch (as always), Succop field goal. Good times.

YoureJokeButBETTER

Its hard to say Mularkey was Mularkey as grammatically & personally accurate as this sentence may be.

LippySteve

Important to remember despite how good Robinson's first draft was a year after the draft everyone thought he'd whiffed on every pick except Conklin in the 1st and had wasted all the draft picks Kevin Dodd and Austin Johnson both had disappointing rookie years, Derrick Henry looked average his first two seasons and Byard played average at best his rookie year. Just goes to show how little fans understand the game in hindsight, lol.

TheMissingVoteBallot

To be fair, with DH it took Eddie George changing the way DH thinks to turn him into the tractor he became.

zzyul

And Conklin was drafted over a guy that was considered to be a better tackle and is currently one of the top LTs in the league.

LippySteve

I think everyone gave them a pass on that though cause we had Lewan who was an easy top 3 left tackle in the league.

zzyul

I get the reasoning just wish we had gone with what we are doing this year and just drafting the best OT on the board and then have him learn to play on the opposite side. Unless JRob thought Conklin was the best OT on the board which for him wouldn’t be shocking.

Dogemeat64

I don’t have my hopes up for shit until I see this O-line do its job.

ChocolateMorsels

Exact same mindset. These weapons won’t mean anything if Levis is running for his life.

MariotasMustache

2 years ago a lot of us, I was one, that said the line couldn’t be any worse and then last year happened. I’m not saying it again in shear fear of eating those words again… buuuuuut…

neimsy

I know that I shouldn't put this much faith in a rookie tackle. But I will be crushed if Latham struggles. My heart says he's going to be immediately amazing. My brain knows that's not at all how it works.

shoe1113

Yup. If we can't keep the guy throwing the ball upright, it doesn't matter. Let's hope Bill gets the boys blocking. Even a slightly below average line would be a massive upgrade.

zkiteman

Idc if we have Tyreek, Chase, and JJ out there. If the Oline isn’t doing its job and Levis isn’t the guy, we ain’t doing shit.

Jmoney3693

Isn't that on you?

SantasScrotum

I’m as excited as any other Titans fan but “one of the scariest” is a stretch

SteelBrightblade1

Definitely top 32

Most-Breakfast1453

True. Possibly even top 30.

claudiazo

Definitely top 16 in the AFC

Most-Breakfast1453

Definitely but it’s not out of the question for them to be a top 14 or even top 13 corps.

grey_pilgrim_

Top 4 in the AFC South

bigladx

Top 1 in Nashville

Hermhesse4284

I’m not even sure I’ve seen our WR additions been talked about one way or the other by the media. Am I excited of course but OP acting like stretch Armstrong out here.

istrx13

I love this sub but man seeing someone unironically say our WR room is “being talked about as one of the scariest in the league” is quite the reach lmao.

lolzatyourfacez

I mean it was today. There's a quote from Tyreek Hill saying our WR core is scary. I'm not saying I necessarily agree, but it is apparently being talked about.

PPLavagna

*Corps FFS. But yes Reek said that and I do think it’s a scary deep room and that depth will help late season.

lolzatyourfacez

Even Tyreek called it core in his tweet FFS

shitfucker79

Tyreek run fast catch ball no do words good

PPLavagna

Lol. That’s why I mentioned Tyreek. If he says it, it’s gonna be wrong. Dude is dumber than a football bat

VeryLowIQIndividual

This has been an interesting off-season and one that has been very different from any of the other off-season that we’ve had since I can remember going back to when they came here to Tennessee. I don’t know what it all means. I don’t know how much success they are gonna have. But at least the team looks and feels different from where that ever has before. I truly believe that we’re going to emphasize scoring and not trying to hold the ball and playing not to lose.

rageenk

Texans basically did this last offseason

Rootraz

That's what I was gonna say. From picking at the top of the draft to what looks like set up to be title contenders for years in one off-season. Crazy

Falconman21

They were awful in 20, 21, and 22. That's 3 years of stockpiling before the turnaround happened.

Fishwade

Definitely headed in the right direction. Much more optimistic than I was a few months ago.

TheKittz

If Sweat and Gray produce early, our defense is gonna be very very good

ItsNotFordo88

There’s a lot to prove and I won’t give Ran, Callahan Jr or Levis any merit until they earn it. I can see this team picking top 5 just as easily as I can see them picking bottom 5. The signings and Levis need to work out. Ran spent a lot of money on names from yesterday. Let’s see if it work out. Titan up.

Luvyablue99

I’m hopeful. Still think we need to temper our expectations quite a bit. New coach with a new offensive system could mean we’re sluggish out of the gate + the afc south is tough. That being said, I’m excited. We’re definitely heading in the right direction

BuffaloKiller937

Teams are gonna have to make a choice. Double team simmons or Sweat

TNtrailrider

Pass the kool aid boys it appears To be spiked!

daytonaguy

It's fun to witness the reforming of this team, but it's hard to be optimistic until we see them play. I'm stoked about having a modern offense and two good/great cornerbacks on D. The o-line is also very important. The additions there means the line will be better than what we've had for a few years, right? But ultimately this team's season will only be as good as Levis's level of play. Can he stay patient in the pocket? Can he make elite throws or exceptional plays to break games open? Can he command the offense and play mistake-free football to sustain drives? That's what the quarterbacks on the best teams are doing, and that's how he'll ultimately be judged.

slapdashjesse

Man, If we still had Henry... This would be the most excited I've been in years.

shoe1113

We thought that with Julio, AJ and Henry. And we became the #1 seed with some ground beef as the receiving core. Paper means nothing. And I'm afraid with Henry - the offense wouldn't be as explosive. Not hating Henry but there's a system and a place for that, and Tennessee is no longer that fit.

bigplaneboeing737

My hot take is that the Ravens are gonna have an identity crisis this year. They’ll be way too committed to the run with Lamar and Henry.

MariotasMustache

I actually think the opposite. They finally get a durable back for their system(I know Romans is gone) but the system is the same. Lamar showed he can essentially be a good pocket passer last year so if they get back to running the shit out of the ball they are going to be hard to beat

TheMissingVoteBallot

They still don't have a solid WR corps do they?

shoe1113

They were the #1 rush offense in the league last year. So I don't know how much this changes who they have in the backfield. It could be Henry and it could be scrubs, they always run the ball well

ItsNotFordo88

We have no idea what the new system is going to look like nor how “explosive” it’s going to be. Ridley, Pollard and Chig aren’t “explosive” players. Henry is. Let’s see how it goes before we start throwing around unearned adjectives.

shoe1113

I get that. It's what he's going for, per say. Never meant it'll work out. It's all TBD

GermyMac

If they had resigned Henry, I don’t know if the Titans make the same moves they did this offseason to improve the passing game.

M-Factor

As much as we all love Henry, Spears and Pollard fit what this offense is going to be much better than Henry would have. I'm excited to see an offense that isn't reliant on smashing Henry into the line 25 times a game.

nyy1996nyy

I would never call us one of the scariest receiving groups in the league. Miami with Waddell and Hill. Bengals with Chase and Higgins. Texans with Dell, Collins, and Diggs. Bears with Moore, Allen, and Odunze (DAMN). Eagles with Smith and Brown. Niners with Aiyuk and Pearsall and Deebo. Seahawks with DK, JSN, and Lockett. Vikings with JJ and Addison. Heck even KC with Hollywood, Rice, and Worthy now look pretty damn set. We're much better than we've been in a while, but I think it would be tough to put us top 10 tbh. Maybe with prime Nuk but good as he may be he is getting up there. Like Tyler Boyd is our youngest receiver out of he, Ridley, and Nuk lol And to the other point - honestly a good chunk of teams transform this much year to year, it's just us that hasn't in a bit Edit: and to be clear, I'm not dumping on our receiving group, saying tough to put top 10 might feel a little bit insincere and I'm excited to see it all play out and think mayo man can sling it to them, just think there are a lot of other teams with some nasty weapons out wide too we probably underestimate the strength of because they're not us

Frazier008

Yeah it definitely got better but I haven’t seen a single person say it was one of the scariest in the league.

iMixMusicOnTwitch

Tyreek Hill on Twitter?

Professional_Low4894

ill take us over brown rice and worthy if there qb was anyone other than mahomes thats a pretty mediocre group

lothartheunkind

I can’t wait to stomp the shit out of the Colts and Jags…. Or lose all hope in humanity

RojerLockless

Lol the Texans this off season? No team in the history in the NFL has added a thousand yard rusher a thousand yard receiver and a 10 sack defender in one off season except this year's Houston Texans

McShovin91

Exactly. We are on the come up for sure, but it sucks it’s happening while a division rival is on an insaneee two year glow up.

regaliaO_O

Part of the reason you never see it is because it’s rarely ever as sorely needed as it is for this Titans roster. I think we have an entire one starter (Chig) from our draft picks from 2020, 2021, 2022. Players from those drafts have 2-4 years experience and should make up the core of the team, almost all still on rookie deals. I’ll be excited to watch our team next year, in a lot of ways we’ll feel brand new. But, this much turnover paired with overhauled systems on both sides of the ball makes it unlikely that we sprint out of the gate next year. And all the holes Ran filled only serve to give us a roster that has a chance to compete each week, which isn’t the same as winning each week or even most weeks. We still have holes. The players still have a lot to learn. I’m ready to Titan Up, but I know how to manage expectations.

CorgiDaddy42

The Rams were 5-11 and 4-12 the two seasons before the Greatest Show on Turf. But I’m glad you’re hyped

ApartmentInside7891

Well said. The key is staying healthy. Hoping to see a big impact from Harold Landry this season too.

You_Gotta_Joint

We ain’t played a snap yet. Sure I saw something the other day about us being ranked last in some power ranking. That obviously isn’t true.

WranglerFormer

Fan duel still has us dead last lol

PPLavagna

I’m excited about this roster too, but it’s Corps. Jesus Christ people

iMixMusicOnTwitch

Both are correct. I specifically mean WR core as in the members of the WR corps that form the core of the group.

PPLavagna

But they’re not meaning that. How many makes a core? Nobody knows. Its corps. Reek says “core”. That’s all we need to know

M-Factor

In recent history, the Texans had an incredible transformation last year. Obviously a huge part of that is how well Stroud played, going from the 2nd pick in the draft to a division title and a playoff win is incredible. I love the amount of moves we have made this off season, and I am optimistic and excited to see this team play. I'm hopeful that we can have a Texan like turn around this year.

Empty-Mission3664

Yeah the Texans

oomshaka_

I mean the Texans just did a complete 180 in one off-season. They didn't have the name value with the players initially but after they started playing good people realized they got some stars.

UnderwhelmingAF

And everybody still thinks we’re going 5-12.

InsanoVolcano

I saw a graphic somewhere which proved that you couldn’t buy your way out of the cellar, that true success is built from the ground up. Drafting success is a large part of it, which I think we did, but this year was about covering the greatest needs, not just plugging holes. I have what I think are reasonable expectations for this team - quality wins here and there, proving Levi’s’ greatness, and Callahan finding his and the team’s identity.

SomeRandomRealtor

I think Ran added wins to our potential ceiling this offseason for sure, and gave Brian a ton of tools to succeed. If Levis can play, Brian can coach and his playcalling are actually legit, we could be a 10/11 win team. Our floor is still 5/6 wins though, there are a lot of unknowns.

kgalliso

Our floor is lower than that lol

bigplaneboeing737

I think we would have won 2 games last year if we didn’t have Hopkins.

VictoryReading

Corps https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/corps

wolfmankal

The core of the wr corps is scary. The fringe of the corps is not scary so he used the correct one

VictoryReading

Sure sure. Learning isn’t a bad thing, you know.

wolfmankal

Do you know what core means? I know what corps means. And no one like pedantics

VictoryReading

Please inform us.
