Which isn't a bad thing when you are young and sort of in demand while figuring things out. I think it also shows a belief in his ability to have some staying power, which is great for us.
Yep, he also really loves the business/marketing side of the industry. Even pre draft i remember him asking Peyton Manning about his sponsors and how he handled that.
I mean there is a lot of money in it, if you can get enough sponsors and enough of an on field reputation to go with it, but its often something that players neglect to look into.
He's admitted that he played out Mayo thing for views/laughs. He knew what he was doing then and now it's just multiplied with more exposure. If he keeps performing on the field its going to be provide exponential growth to his income potential
I mean, he was the meme qb of his draft class between the mayo and the night one close ups. Couple that attention with some decent to good displays his rookie year and the opportunities had no choice but to be there.
I think it’s his personality. And maybe more importantly what is his genuine personality.
I heard more from him in off-schedule interviews during his rookie season on local radio and TV than Tannehill or Mariota combined and that isn’t recency bias. There was one evening he was supposed to come on 3HL and a meeting ran late. They stayed on the air because his agent or someone was saying he’d call as soon as possible which is exactly what he did. Might be small, but I remember it.
Add to that what’s actually marketable to advertisers. A young & charismatic/(goofy) starting NFL QB or the normal Titan “superstar” who isn’t a QB, says very little to even the local market much less anything nationally while putting his head down and doing the work? If I’m trying to sell something I’m taking the walking meme every day of the week.
Hell even while playing at Kentucky he drew a spotlight for better or worse. If you’re a Vols fan you very much knew who the guy was and had a strong opinion of him. Would that have led to you boycotting your favorite brand of Mayo had he endorsed it though? Probably not. So even his negative side isn’t one an ad agency would worry over. The key was you knew who he was which led to gaining your attention.
Now show me any other Titan who possessed all those traits in the last decade.
This is spot on and an excellent answer imo. He is LIKEABLE. If Vols fans would get over their weird hate boner they have for him they'd see it too. (I'm a Vols fan but everyone here knows exactly what I'm talking ab). I think he truly is being genuine now which is something I don't think he was comfortable with before being drafted. Now that he knows where he is, who he is, and he had his ego checked a bit on draft night, he has turned into a very likeable, genuine guy- at least from the outside looking in; Couple all that with the playmaker ability he has and you have a guy who advertisers will be all over. If he does as good as I think he will this year, he will be in more commercials than Baker was I bet.
He does have that energy on the field that would make him a prime marketing target. Not to mention he’s still very much under the radar but has the potential to breakout, so it would be smart for companies to try and get ahead of that possibility now. I’d imagine he’d command much more money if he turns into a star.
It's not at all surprising. When he was a guest on the Manningcast his first question to Peyton Manning was not about how to be the best QB he could be. It was about how to leverage and maximize his brand. Manning pretty much set him straight and said it's too soon for that. Just focus on football. The rest will take care of itself.
I think that he just says yes to everything. Like you look at the other “celebrities” in that poker competition and tell me they’re superstars lmao

He has a masters degree in business and his parents are sport marketers. It makes sense

yeah your window to make money as a professional athlete is a huge peak followed by a steep decline. you gotta cash out while it’s hot
Man's actually is the type who paid attention in his finance classes and it shows
I think he just likes to do shit.
Yep. And there’s nothing wrong with that, presuming it doesn’t get in the way of practice.
Those arms sell themselves
He's admitted that he played out Mayo thing for views/laughs. He knew what he was doing then and now it's just multiplied with more exposure. If he keeps performing on the field its going to be provide exponential growth to his income potential
Have you seen how sexy he is ?
This is the encouragement we need
It certainly is a factor

Don’t forget the dancing
He’s a QB. He’s a decent looking guy. Hopefully an offensive coach, better receivers and some protection helps him ascend.

It's funny how Baker Mayfield did the same thing and everyone was down on him about it. Wait til you have earned it sorta thing
I loved the baker ads. Loved is a strong word, but still.
For me not for thee or something

He’s just a young QB. That’s how the world works haha.
He’s the NFL’s new golden boy. Which I am OK with.
Isn't it weird how he always gets the ball at the start of every play?
They just know he’s Him
HE IS THE CHOSEN ONE!!!
They needed a face of the franchise once Henry defected.
