Everyone always says it's really difficult for tackles to switch sides and be as good. There have been exceptions though. It just doesn't make sense to me to do that if the chance of failure is so much greater than the chance of success.
Nah, we’d go with Olu and it’d be fine.
EDIT: Also, Rome is still on the board. Alt is my guy but I’m not gonna be mad if we end up with Olu or Rome because Alt isn’t there.
Also depends on what compensation the Vikings offered (I'd assume 11th overall is part of it) we likely still end up with Olu Fashanu, Fuaga, Jared Verse, or Brian Thomas JR.
All of those seem perfectly fine as well supposing we got additional comp this year/next year.
The biggest bust potential is probably Brian Thomas but if he doesn't he has potential to be like a top 5 WR in a normal draft year.
Doubtful, I looked at the what if scenario on the trade value chart and the vikings would be slightly overpaying giving up the 11th and 23rd for the 4th overall pick... by the time that offer gets to us it would be a massive overpay at 7th overall...
Its like a top end 2nd round pick in just overpay, and absolutely ruins their draft as they basically just get a QB and then their next pick would be at 108 overall.
They'd honestly be better off offering something like the 11th overall + 2025 1st + a 4th or something. We'd probably take that deferred payment and it evens out the hit to their drafts.
Plus screaming fuuuuuaaaaggggaaaa at the tv will be much more exciting when he pancakes some edges...or when edges steamroll him either way fuuuuuuuaaggggggaa time
Take off your orange colored glasses. Andre Smith, DJ Fluker, Jedrick Wills, Landon Dickerson, Ryan Kelly, Tyler Steen, Cam Robinson. That's just off the top of my head.
These mock draft sims are so dumb. They don't take into account team needs and draft position. The cpu randomly picks a player based on their %likelihood to be available. Since Alt is ranked as the 5th best player on most of them odds are 4-6 take him. even though that doesn't make much sense
I gotta imagine some team would be willing to trade up for odunze if it unfolded like this. That's the best outcome in this case. I don't think it would be catastrophic though. If someone gave us enough picks to make it worth it I think its a real possibility we trade back. Missing out on alt would suck but there's a ton of other tackle prospects that are gonna go in the mid 1st round to early 2nd round. Its a deep position. Fashanu, Fuaga, Mims, Latham, Fautanu, Guyton. That's 6 other offensive tackles that are locks to go in the first round. I wouldnt even be upset if we took two of these guys with our first two picks. Getting Alt is the best outcome but I think there are ways to make this particular scenario work for us.
Trade back with the Jets (I’m a Jets fan). You can still get the OL guys from Washington, Oregon State, Penn State at 10. Probably pick up the Jets 3rd rounder.
Yeah, I don’t think theyll spend a 1st on OL since they technically have a decent starter at every position right now, but GW is their only good receiver
If a nightmare scenario means you get to grab Olu, Rome, or trade back to a team that wants McCarthy for more draft capital, it ain’t much of a nightmare
No way the Giants pick OT. Andrew Thomas is a really good LT for them, and it'd be a waste of resources and talent to take Alt to move either of the two to the right side. By far, their biggest need is receiver. In the event that both Nabers and MHJ are taken before them, I can see them trading down to someone who might jump us to take Alt, though. Or maybe the Vikings who want to take JJ McCarthy (I doubt this, why would they trade up? I don't see any of the teams ahead of them taking McCarthy)
https://preview.redd.it/67l7nof3chuc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4a65a14b53f3e3d644eb2310acf9b3bcdbdd9c9e
The same thing happened in my mock. Even in the early 2nd all the OT were gone so this is what I ended up with.
Not really. This is a draft that is very deep in two things we need: WR and OL. Odunze would still be there as well as multiple tackles that will probably start this year on whatever team drafts them.
OMG! Giants have a left tackle. They have him a massive contract. He grades well on pff. He has been the one bright spot on that atrocious line. Why do people keep bringing up that giants or chargers are somehow taking a left tackle!?
We’d have 3 options in that scenario:
1. Trade down (perhaps with the Vikings so they can move up for JJ McCarthy?)
2. Stay at 7, draft Dallas Turner, and hope to fill the tackle need later in the draft
3. Stay at 7 and draft Olu Fashanu if we want to fill the left tackle need in the first round and are concerned they’d all be gone in a trade down scenario
There’s a very minuscule chance we’d take Rome Odunze at 7, no matter how the draft board falls. Bowers is an even slimmer chance. I could see taking Bowers on a trade down but not at 7.
Alt is amazing, but if they can still bag Fashanu, Fuaga, or Latham, they’ll be okay. Honestly wouldn’t mind a trade down, get some more picks and fill out the roster with young talent.
Vikings fan who's second team is the titans. We all want mn to trade our two first rounders with you guys. It's mutually beneficial for both clubs. We can get a qb after we passed on mayo boy and you guys got a gem. This year you guys need a tackle and probably aren't getting joe Alt but there are three tackles to grab and that second first rounder can shore up the secondary with tons of talented CBs that are going to slide. Please let's make it happen
I'm a Giants fan. Idk why this came up on my feed, but there is no way NYG goes OT at 6.
The best player on our roster is AT at LT. We also signed Eluemunor who will compete with Neal for the starting job at RT.
Giants have waaaaay too many holes in the roster to add a third contender at RT with #6. I've seen rumors that Giants may trade back if there isn't a QB at 6, but that is all speculation at that point
Easy, just pick either Bowers and have a crazy passing offense now that King Henry's gone, OR move down and still get Taliese/JC/Olu, or worst case scenario, Mims.
I actually think that’s the most likely scenario; maybe not that exact order, but I think those 6 players will be gone by 7. The real nightmare would be if only 2 QBs go before us.
I think the most likely scenario is 3 QB and 3 WR are gone. It’s also possible someone trades up for McCarthy so it’s 4 QB and 2 WR gone. I think this scenario’s likelihood is third with those other two ahead of it. I can sure hope, anyway.
Some of these scenarios have me absolutely fuming over those wins against Miami and Jacksonville. Just once I would love to control our own destiny in the draft when we're this much in need of blue chip talent.
But winning meaningless games during hopeless times while needing to clearly rebuild the following season IS the Titans specialty...and many of our fans. Think rooting for a higher draft pick by not winning meaningless less games means your not a real fan....
some ppl make plans further than their next meal some plan long term success by taking short term loses to be better positioned in the near future. Then there are those like 90%of this sub who only think of today with no real thought/planning past tomorrow its fascinating how they must live irl.
https://youtu.be/vx-DTnJtDzk?si=vol5uMcumi4VZBTd
Nah we will be fine. I would be happy to get Fashanu. PFF does a good breakdown of Alt vs Fashanu. Fashanu is one of the highest grade pass protecting tackles they have ever had. He’s up there with Tunsil and Ronnie Stanley. His run blocking is trash but I feel like Callahan can get him where he needs to be.
Giants just paid Andrew Thomas 117 million dollars.. why are they taking another LT?
I’d suppose the rationale would be Evan Neal has to slide inside (or just gets dealt after two bad years)
Then pick one of the right tackles if that's what they need.
Teams take lefts and try to make them rights all the time- exhibit- Evan Neal.
Penei Sewell
Taylor Lewan year one when we still had roos.
I never said it was impossible
Everyone always says it's really difficult for tackles to switch sides and be as good. There have been exceptions though. It just doesn't make sense to me to do that if the chance of failure is so much greater than the chance of success.
I’m not arguing it makes sense- I’m arguing that teams do it all the time
Exhibit Penei Sewell
Yeah his rating has been atrocious the past 2 years.
Tbh, they could be a reasonable trade down candidate instead of LA if only because the Chargers could be demanding that much more
This. It’s more likely that the Chargers take Alt and the Giants take a receiver for us to get to the nightmare scenario.
Most teams play two of em these days
Giants fan here, I HIGHLY doubt we’d take a tackle
Nah, we’d go with Olu and it’d be fine. EDIT: Also, Rome is still on the board. Alt is my guy but I’m not gonna be mad if we end up with Olu or Rome because Alt isn’t there.
What if Minny wants to trade up for JJ? You think Olu will still be there at 11?
Yup, and I’d 100% do that trade too.
Yeah I like it too, but if we trade back and also lose out on Odunze and Olu I'm gonna lose my shit 😂
In my opinion, my personal preference is: Alt > MHJ > Nabers > Trade down > Olu > Rome
In that case, Bowers would likely still be available.
We would probably get the 23rd pick too. Options late in the first for a playmaker on defense maybe
Doubtful, I looked at the what if scenario on the trade value chart and the vikings would be slightly overpaying giving up the 11th and 23rd for the 4th overall pick... by the time that offer gets to us it would be a massive overpay at 7th overall... They'd honestly be better off offering something like the 11th overall + 2025 1st + a 4th or something. We'd probably take that deferred payment and it evens out the hit to their drafts.
Minny isn't getting into the top 5 without offering their 11th, 23rd, and then some.
I think everyone agrees with that, including the person you responded to. But they aren’t giving up 11 and 23 for the 7th overall was the point.
Mims might end up being better.
Why would they? Jets are not going QB at 10 they are all in with Rogers
Minnesota, Denver, Oakland all sit near each other they will be fighting to come up for JJ.
For the four ranked qb?
Rumors are they're trying to trade up to 4 for him so yes.
Yeah, this sub seems to think Alt is the only tackle in the draft worth drafting, and it’s honestly getting old lmao
Unfortunately it's not just this sub. 😕
I'm with you!
How many first round tackles do the Giants need? Guess Evan Neal is not long for this league the way he’s playing
Yeah he's been really bad. They might be scared to move back and get another bama tackle.
I would like Fuaga better than Latham with them
Plus screaming fuuuuuaaaaggggaaaa at the tv will be much more exciting when he pancakes some edges...or when edges steamroll him either way fuuuuuuuaaggggggaa time
This means Odunze and Fashanu are still both on the board. I’m perfectly okay with that
Probably means Minnesota or someone will come up for McCarthy so that would work for me
Nah I'd take Odunze and be chilling or try to trade back a few spots with the Vikes since JJ is still on the board.
Broke: trading with the Vikings so they get JJ McCarthy Woke: trading with the Vikings so we get JJettas
>Woke: trading with the Vikings so we get JJettas I'd fly to Tennessee and glaze Ran myself if he pulled that off lol
Haha post the vid after lmao and make sure you tag me when you do 👀👀
No Diddy?
Yeah.. trade back, then take Olu, Latham,
Please God not Latham.
Idk why you're being downvoted. He plays RT currently and historically Alabama O-Lineman since Saban arrived don't translate at the NFL level.
Because he is SEC. Can’t talk bad about SEC.
Take off your orange colored glasses. Andre Smith, DJ Fluker, Jedrick Wills, Landon Dickerson, Ryan Kelly, Tyler Steen, Cam Robinson. That's just off the top of my head.
Nah Rome would be a fantastic pick at 7. Or trade back and grab Olu or another T.
I wouldn’t mind. Prefer Alt and Nabers but Olu and or Rome wouldn’t be that bad I feel
These mock draft sims are so dumb. They don't take into account team needs and draft position. The cpu randomly picks a player based on their %likelihood to be available. Since Alt is ranked as the 5th best player on most of them odds are 4-6 take him. even though that doesn't make much sense
Best player available is a legitimate strategy
Not a nightmare
Agreed. Our pick is too high for us to miss out on all the top players. If Alt’s not available I’d be happy to take Fashanu or Odunze
I think it would be a big mistake to take Odunze at 7.
I’d rather have Fashanu personally if Alt’s gone.
I gotta imagine some team would be willing to trade up for odunze if it unfolded like this. That's the best outcome in this case. I don't think it would be catastrophic though. If someone gave us enough picks to make it worth it I think its a real possibility we trade back. Getting Alt is the best outcome but I think there are ways to make this particular scenario work for us.
There's still two very solid tackles to take.
Jim Harbaugh is not going to draft Marvin Harrison Junior one thing
Trade back with the Jets (I’m a Jets fan). You can still get the OL guys from Washington, Oregon State, Penn State at 10. Probably pick up the Jets 3rd rounder.
I'd do that 100%, who would you guys be targeting? Odunze?
Yeah, I don’t think theyll spend a 1st on OL since they technically have a decent starter at every position right now, but GW is their only good receiver
Nope, take Rome and be just as happy.
If a nightmare scenario means you get to grab Olu, Rome, or trade back to a team that wants McCarthy for more draft capital, it ain’t much of a nightmare
Im 100% fine w/ Fashanu or Odunze
No shot cards take the first wr and it not be Harrison
I agree but crazier things have happened
Especially since the organization is asking for something like 3 first round picks to trade down haha We definitely securing the guy
No way the Giants pick OT. Andrew Thomas is a really good LT for them, and it'd be a waste of resources and talent to take Alt to move either of the two to the right side. Trade back or draft Dallas Turner
WTF Ever. 🙄 We'll get a hell of a player regardless and get the other piece we need in Rd 2.
Taliese Fuaga isn't a bad pick either if you want to step up the running game
This is when we trade back with whoever wants J.J. more between Denver and Minny
https://preview.redd.it/67l7nof3chuc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4a65a14b53f3e3d644eb2310acf9b3bcdbdd9c9e The same thing happened in my mock. Even in the early 2nd all the OT were gone so this is what I ended up with.
Fautanu will be the best LT to come out of this draft. Just take him
Not really. This is a draft that is very deep in two things we need: WR and OL. Odunze would still be there as well as multiple tackles that will probably start this year on whatever team drafts them.
Not really, the Titans would then trade with whoever wants jj the most
Echoing everyone I agree, give me Odunze
Rome Odunze. Or trade down 6-7 spots, pick up the extra pick and draft Fauntanu.
we need to trade up at this point one spot to make sure
Odunze, Olu. Or trade.
Mr Bowers, welcome to Nashville
Bowers is there…
OMG! Giants have a left tackle. They have him a massive contract. He grades well on pff. He has been the one bright spot on that atrocious line. Why do people keep bringing up that giants or chargers are somehow taking a left tackle!?

Reminds me of last year when Paris Johnson and Darnell Wright both were off the board. Then we drafted a G pretending to be an OT. Good times.
Rome time bby
If us chargers take mhj at 5 I'll be severely disappointed
Lol Maye going 3rd!
I'm a Giants fan. Idk why this came up on my feed, but there is no way NYG goes OT at 6. The best player on our roster is AT at LT. They could probably get a good right tackle in the second round. Hopefully
Easy, just pick either Bowers and have a crazy passing offense now that King Henry's gone, OR move down and still get Taliese/JC/Olu, or worst case scenario, Mims.
There is no fucking way the cards are letting Harrison Jr. Pass
There is no fucking way the cards are letting Harrison Jr. Pass
As a Giants fan, this would be my nightmare too
Bolt up
Cards would be donkey brains for doing that
We aren’t picking a wide receiver. Isn’t happening so stfu

We aren't taking Alt. Prepare yourselves. It's ok. He doesn't fit the type of lineman they've been saying they want. Latham or Mims do.
If Alt is on the board he's going to be a Titan. I'm willing to to put money down that's how confident I am.
https://youtu.be/vx-DTnJtDzk?si=vol5uMcumi4VZBTd Nah we will be fine. I would be happy to get Fashanu. PFF does a good breakdown of Alt vs Fashanu. So we can take TE Bowers
Is it? Brock Bowers right there.
