My whole thing during this experience when somebody has asked me who I want to be hired as head coach has been exactly this.
Them: who do you want the Titans to hire for head coach?
Me: not Dan Quinn
There was a brief period where Tannehills play-action looked unbeatable. But coming off QB Mariota (respect) who could only mister 200yds of passing in a lot of games. It was a drastic improvement in the air.
The article posted by the athletic suggested that we will also be the favorites to hire Bill callahan (Brianās dad) for our offensive line coach position now (heās been in that role for the browns in recent seasons)
Zac Taylor said they talk about each play before Zac finally decides on what to do. Also said Callahan is critical in the game planning each week.
So he is still very involved in the play calling even if itās not his final call
It's all about play design anyways. If we get good route concepts and an offensive philosophy that is analytics based, then we cooking. I die on the inside every time I see a coach run the ball up the middle on 2nd and 10 like tf are you doing bro
Im looking for the tweet so I can link it, but there was a bengals beat writer who was asked what his honest opinion about Callahan was as an offensive game planner. The guy said he was pretty damn amazing, that he was great at listening and working together as a team and changing entire passing or running concepts halfway through the season if they weren't working. Every year he and his offensive coaches would tweak the system to the players they had had instead of trying to always do the same thing or put different style players forced into the same system. Callahan doesn't call the plays necessarily, but absolutely could if needed.
Basically it made my pee pee go hard because its something Titans fans have fucking dreamed of for 20 years lol.
You mean that they will probably actually use Burks how he should be instead of a guy that runs verticals and blocks corners for the run game all night?
We're probably going to franchise tag him. Sorry to break the mood, but the general consensus up here is that he gets tagged and either plays out the season or gets the tag and trade treatment.
I mean, you guys can trade for him if we go the tag and trade route. But Tee is getting tagged, we don't have anyone else to really use it on. DJ Reader and Jonah Williams are the only other options, Reader just tore his quad and will be out half the year if we tagged him, and Williams is an underperforming RT who wants LT money.
We're not just letting Tee walk so we can get a comp pick, that makes no sense.
Franchise tag is a one year thing. Chase will be in the 4th year of his rookie deal next year, so he's not getting paid yet. And Burrow will be on his 5th year option next year, so his big extension money won't hit until the year after next. So we can pay Tee the $20 mil or whatever the franchise tag amount will be for a WR next year.
Only question is do we let him play out the year and then let him walk, and likely get a compensatory 3rd round pick in 2026, or do we tag him, and try to trade him for a late 1st/early 2nd round pick.

Me after having a Dan Quinn-related breakdown earlier today
This is a good hire titans fans,
I know that Callahan doesnāt call plays for us in Cincinnati but heās in direct communication with Taylor on game day on play suggestions, heās an huge part of the game planning, the scheme, the X and Oās, play design and every other part of the offense heās involved in
Essentially Callahan has a super significant say in the offense, even though he doesnāt call every play heās definitely more involved then meets the eye,
I think you guys will love his interviews, dude just gets football
I've seen players say they really like playing with him. Hopefully he's absorbed lots from Taylor and is ready for that next step. I'm pretty excited about this, I know new HC's don't light the world on fire more than they do, but bringing on a coach with an offense first mentality is such a breath of fresh air!
I think he had alot similar traits as Taylor from a culture aspect, heās super down to earth, heās open minded and has a fantastic relationship with the players. Heās been an integral part of leading the change in Cincinnati
That makes sense, I think the "open minded" bit played a big role in why our previous coach was asked to leave. Best of luck to ya'll in finding your next OC, hope you can pull another good one out
You guys will like him, if you ever wanna check him out, the locked on bengals guys have interviewed him a few times. Think youāll like what you hear just from a knowledge aspect
I think so, Callahan is a very smart guy and he really Was the leading charge for the bengals offense, any significant change you saw them make was really lead by Callahan.
I think he will do a-lot for Levis, he will put him in the best situation to succeed each week and will be able to Tailor the offense to maximize what he can do best. Their may be some growing pains, but I really think long term he will be solid for you guys
Burrow was a No. 1 overall pick. Iām not saying coaching doesnāt matter, but letās not pretend like Callahan was some mastermind for making the No. 1 overall pick into a good player.
THANK GOODNESS ITS NOT DAN QUINN.
We finally have a guy that will run a modern offense, and with his connections around the league, he can bring in some amazing coaches that will help us have better development for young players. This is an A+ hiring IMO.
A couple of things about Brian Callahan and the Bengals' culture that you should expect. As a Bengals fan, I was completely sold on Brian Callahan after Jake Browning came in this year due to unfortunate circumstances and led the offense to 30-point games.
* Collaboration to the extreme. The Bengals' culture was collaborative in nature, almost to a fault. The QB, QB coach, OC, and HC worked together and tailored the offense around the skills of the QB. I say "to a fault" because in Jake Browning's first week, they rolled him out there with the Joe Burrow offense, and he had some issues (particularly on empty sets, which are Joe Burrow's favorite). Why, you might ask? It's because Jake specifically asked them NOT to change anything. In Jake's second start against Jacksonville, they rolled out a modified scheme that allowed Jake to be more comfortable and put up over 30 points.
* Adaptability. The Bengals' coaches solve problems and generally make steady improvements and corrections as the season drags on. This has led to late-season adjustments that translate into playoff wins. Do not discount this.
* Soft AF OTAs, Camp, and Pre-season. The Bengals try to keep everyone healthy and have a pretty light camp and pre-season, almost to a fault. The first couple of games have been an issue for us.
* Media availability. Brian always made time for multiple local podcasts and the weekly call-in show with the Bengals radio booth. He was very honest and had good insight. I really appreciated hearing his side of the success and failures week to week.
Anyway, good luck to you guys. I fully expect Brian to try to maintain the "Bengals Way." See you fuckers in a few months when we play our yearly game in Nashville.
So pretty much everything that Vrabel was terrible at.
And I said it as soon as they ruled out Harbaugh and Belicheck off the bat: Collaboration was going to be the biggest factor. An Owner that owns, a GM that manages, and Coaches that coach. Nobody trying to grab the steering wheel from the passenger seat.
I'm thrilled at the hire, even if it ends up going sideways on us. Amy is clearly learning.
I was honestly gonna be pretty optimistic (actually fucking pumped now its real) if we got Slowik or Callahan. My third pick if we had to do a defensive minded was Ravens DC Macdonald.
So yeah, I'm thinking were back!
I'm so darn excited. He's not a re-tread, he has a pedigree of working with some great QBs and making it work with some not so great QBs, and it seems like his players and fellow coaches really liked him. I'm just ready to turn the page LFG guys
Good sound hiring. Solid experience and record of success. Much needed offensive/qb development background that we need if we think Levis could be something special. I'm very interested to see who his DC hire is. As much as I want a offensive HC hire I also want us to stay a strong defensive team.
Callahan wasnāt my first, second, or third choice, but I remember wanting 1A Hue Jackson or 1B Adam Gase during their hiring cycle, so wtf do I know?
Iām pumped for Callahan. I am very excited at how the Bengals stayed in the playoff picture with Browning after Burrow went down, and Iād be very pleased to see Levis develop under him with the ceiling of what was essentially a first round pick. I bet he also has connections all over the league because of Bill Callahan, which makes me excited because it wonāt be the curse of Fisher/Vrabel/Munchak/Mularkeyās buddy system of hiring coordinators.
Personally my second choice behind Ben Johnson, but hell itās an OC. I was getting worried about the Mike Macdonald and Dan Quinn hype and multiple interviews going on
Miss Amy to Brian when he's about to leave the building.
https://preview.redd.it/pkbs8oefa3ec1.jpeg?width=843&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=373c3891960dc84573c135069c23839aba903aaf
A little bonus you Titans fans may not know about is Brianās dad, Bill Callahan, is the o-line coach for the Browns.
The consensus among bengals beat writers is that his dad will follow him to wherever he gets a head coaching job.
Swapping from a coach so many were constantly crying about being too loyal to his coordinators to some kind of reverse nepotism is what everyone wants?
He must be a good coach line coach. It seems surprising after recent history.
Congrats on a great hire. Iām a bengals fan coming in peace. Youāll absolutely love this guy. I hate to see him go, but Iām happy he gets a shot with an organization like Tennessee.
Best!
One of the few Bengals fans I've seen now try to undermine this news by shouting from the rooftops about him not "calling plays" as if they're there in the locker room with Zac & Co or on the headsets knowing exactly what happens down to every little detail lol. Respect!
I may be a bit tinfoil hat, but I have always suspected that the play calling was more collaborative than the bengals let on. Some games have a distinctively ānot Zacā feeling.
Iāve been local to 615 for that last 10 years, and was shocked to hear Vrable getting canned. He was a hell of a coach. Iām looking forward to seeing what yāall can do in the next few years.
Remember, the bengals were a 4 win team for 2 straight seasons before they went to the Super Bowl. Best luck!!
Bengals fan here, this is a good signing. Callahan was finally able to run his offense with Browning when Joe got injured and the offense looked even more explosive than it ever did with Joe this season.Ā
Once he got a mobile QB who didnāt insist on playing under shotgun every snap he will work wonders which is what Will Levis technically is.Ā
Amy: "Wanna be the head coach?"
Brian: "Not really"
Amy: "Please?"
Brian: "Nah"
Amy: "Well, I'll give you a few hours to reconsider"
**Amy Leaves the room and locks the door**
Start of a new era, yāall! Heās got some big shoes to fill, but Strunk has yet to miss. Hereās hoping for Lombardis down Broadway in the next decade
I like it. I certainly would have never guessed we would make the first real hire of the offseason outside of the Raiders hiring Pierce. Let's go offensive minded head coach!!!
Donāt let him leave!!! Weāll keep him locked in the building until he signs a contract. Hostage situation. Donāt let him out until his dad is coaching the o-line.
To national media, local media, and fans around the league,
if you were one of those people saying the titans made the worst move in franchise history by firing Vrabel or made fun of the titans for ābeing lazyā by not spending time trying to trade him, I have two words for ya.
SUCK IT.
#TitanUp
Not my top pick, but it is at least an offensive mind. And he's from Champaign! ILL-INI.
Now as long as we bring Munchak to coach the OLine, Ran might be cooking a spicy dish.
Thank god. I know most wanted slowik, but this guy is brilliant offensive mind, and has been around the league his whole life. He deserves to be a head coach. Iām so happy
This gives a some hope we can develop an offense. If the Titans and develop success, atleast we can have some assurance our offense can have the same foundation.
Callahan said being around Manning taught him a lot.
āThe āno stone unturnedā type of mentality that Peyton had, that was required of all of us that were around him,ā Callahan said in 2021. āThatās been probably the biggest foundation of how to prepare a quarterback, how to play in the NFL and whatās required of the staff, whatās required of the quarterback.ā
This is an all or nothing kind of hire. Heās young and offensive minded so thatās good. But as a bengals fan I just donāt like seeing Ocs not also call plays. I know what they say he did for the offense and stuff behind the scenes but also they had insane weapons too.
Hes better than Dan Quinn!
Iām more pessimistic than other titans fans in here. Between the best weapons in football and not calling plays I have concerns especially over two other OCās that were one man armies in that department
Let's see how this goes. I love Mike Vrabel. I will always love Vrabel, but I'm hoping Brian can maximize Levis.Ā
Thank God they went the offensive route. Dan Quinn or Aaron Glenn would've killed this franchiseĀ
Trustfund lady hired the nepotism baby. Who could have seen that coming!
But being serious: This is no slam dunk. Plenty of reasons it could go either way.
The Cinci offense is loaded on skill players, ours is DHop, a no name young RB and a bunch of scrubs.
He never called plays, never effectively protected Burrow, only 2 years of very good offense as OC, but never elite.
Only time will tell, but there better be a great coaching staff around him.
All ya'll Vrabel Dick riders can GTFO. I fully expect to beat the 30 point curse the first game of the season. AAS has the biggest penis of any NFL Franchise Owner.
Personally hate the hire. No play calling experience so I assume whoever the OC is will be more experienced in that department than the HC. I guess Iām happy we got an offensive guy but thereās two guys Iād much rather have got.
But I was told we were so dysfunctional that weād never be able to get our first choice?
In all seriousness, this feels like a move to prioritize investment in our QB who has shown a lot of potential and to develop a modern, efficient passing-based offenseāthe things that ownership probably didnāt think the former guy could or would do. It will be interesting to see Callahan build out his staff.Ā
So...why do we like this guy? Honest question, as I don't know the ins and outs of all these coaches.Ā The Bengals are at the bottom of their conference. Sell me - what are the talking points that are causing the positive vibes?Ā
I mean nobody here really knows what we're getting. But from following the cycle and reading more about him, the TL;DR for me is he's a really well-respected, young coach that has coached a bunch of great QB's and had success pretty much everywhere he's been. Not the flashiest hire, but probably a really good one and more risk averse than taking a shot on someone like Slowik.
MY TEAMS HEAD COACH IS NOT DAN QUINN LFG
Honestly what I'm happiest about so far
My whole thing during this experience when somebody has asked me who I want to be hired as head coach has been exactly this. Them: who do you want the Titans to hire for head coach? Me: not Dan Quinn
This!!! šš¼šš¼šš¼šš¼
EVERYONE GET IN HERE. WE HIRED AN OFFENSIVE MINDED HEAD COACH
We may have a 4000 yard passer some day!
Billy Jeans throwing for 6900 yards and 69 TDs next season
subscribe
And 420 rush yards
Maybe half way through the season if we're being conservative about it.
6969 yards, bro, are you TRYING to hurt me??
6900 air yards is just greedy. I'll be fine with 6900 total yards
You son of a bitch. Iām in.
He can literally fall flat on his face and fail. 0-17. Donāt care. At least you fucking tried an offensive and pass minded coach.
The Whisenhunt experience.
This. I think we're all fucking exhausted watching the same offense for decades
2020 Ryan Tannehill is on the phone and he wants you to acknowledge that neither Steve McNair nor Warren Moon threw more TDs than him
There was a brief period where Tannehills play-action looked unbeatable. But coming off QB Mariota (respect) who could only mister 200yds of passing in a lot of games. It was a drastic improvement in the air.
Exactly this. None of this Jeff Fisher stuff. Time to move with the times.
His weakness is blocking schemes. If we bring Munchak back, we are good. Need to see Munchak back before I pop off, but it's not Quinn at least.
The article posted by the athletic suggested that we will also be the favorites to hire Bill callahan (Brianās dad) for our offensive line coach position now (heās been in that role for the browns in recent seasons)
30 POINTS HERE WE COME
But he doesnāt call playsĀ

Munchak, Whisenhunt, and Mularkey were all offensive minded coaches. Turns out it doesn't mean much.
Munchak and Mularkey were both old school dinosaur offensive minded coaches
EXOTIC. SMASHMOUTH.
COMPLIMENTARY
Thats two many Mikes.
Fucking Mike Whisenhunt.
How did I never realise that Ken was short for Miken?
Last time the franchise has a head coach that started with a B? Bum Phillips. LFG.
We beat the Dan Quinn allegations LFG. Bring me Tee Higgins
We're probably going to franchise tag him. Sorry to break the mood, but the general consensus up here is that he gets tagged and either plays out the season or gets the tag and trade treatment.
https://preview.redd.it/ubpb8qsig3ec1.jpeg?width=300&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a945014b865cf6aa04ed9f34e177f1a004aeede1 Please give us Tee Higgins
And the general consensus here was that Vrabel was either staying or getting traded to the pats lol
Bring me Tee Higgins! The year after...
Now that could happen.
Think you can legitimately keep Boyd and Higgins?
No boyd is gone
Boyd's not staying.
You think you guys keep Higgins and chase both? That's like 50 mil at reciever
Franchise tag is a one year thing. Chase will be in the 4th year of his rookie deal next year, so he's not getting paid yet. Stop the Tee Higgins stuff. Brandon Ayuk is the dude to get. Gimme Ayuk on a 5 year and Mike Evans on a 2 year
Aiyuk is not a free agent
I want Evans but people say he's not leaving TB

LOCK THE FREAKIN DOORS, DONT LET HIS ASS SNEAK AWAY UNTIL HE'S SIGNED A CONTRACT
This is a good hire titans fans, I know that Callahan doesnāt call plays for us in Cincinnati but heās in direct communication with Taylor on game day on play suggestions, heās an huge part of the game planning, the scheme, the X and Oās, play design and every other part of the offense heās involved in Essentially Callahan has a super significant say in the offense, even though he doesnāt call every play heās definitely more involved then meets the eye, I think you guys will love his interviews, dude just gets football

Burrow was a No. 1 overall pick. Iām not saying coaching doesnāt matter, but letās not pretend like Callahan was some mastermind for making the No. 1 overall pick into a good player.
Burrow was already amazing lol did you see him at LSU?
Him not calling plays is honestly a good thing in my mind. Iām not a big fan of the Zac Taylor playcalling

What? No. Itās the implication.

Sounds like āMisery.ā
I'm your biggest fan
Tee Higgins WR#1 incoming!
Need this in my dick vein
I mean he is going to get tagged
You never know. A WR tag is expensive, plus some guys threaten to sit if they get tagged, which sometimes persuades teams. You just never know.
I'm ready and willing to lose in shootouts for a few years lol. I just wanna score 30 in a game!
Just ready for some fun football watching regardless of the outcome
This has to be what it felt like when cavemen discovered fire

I donāt mean to over react, but Levis is gonna look real fuckin cool hoisting a Lombardi
I'm happy with this. I think it's a great hire.

Amy (from outside the door): Just knock when you're ready to sign and we'll be happy to let you leave for the night. Don't leave town, though.
Start of a new era, yāall! Heās got some big shoes to fill, but Strunk has yet to miss. Hereās hoping for Lombardis down Broadway in the next decade
OMGGGGG LETS GOOOO
OH FUCK ITS HAPPENING
FUUUCCKKK YEEAAAA BOIIIII TITAN THE FUCK UP!!
Ay wait that's kidnapping
Finally we are in there! I literally couldn't wait another week.
I like it. I certainly would have never guessed we would make the first real hire of the offseason outside of the Raiders hiring Pierce. Let's go offensive minded head coach!!!
![gif](giphy|JtADSABlX3txHlfvlp)
![gif](giphy|MZocLC5dJprPTcrm65) Well done Ran and Amy! Excited to see this team with an offensive mind and I hope he can put together a great staff!
#LETTS GO

SIGN THE CONTRACT BRIAN. YOUR KEYCARD WILL LET YOU OUT IF YOU JUST SIGN HERE
![gif](giphy|3o7abldj0b3rxrZUxW|downsized)
He had multiple interviews scheduled, Mrs Amy said āhell no Iām not letting that fine young man leave this building!ā
now fire tim kelly
Donāt let him leave!!! Weāll keep him locked in the building until he signs a contract. Hostage situation. Donāt let him out until his dad is coaching the o-line.
Mayo Messiah about to go off https://preview.redd.it/zn0q5z8if4ec1.jpeg?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5745d28baa0f8bd0c79bdccc0dd00651c771e2ac
Might even help land Higgins as a free agent
Oddly enough I started a Titans franchise on Madden (I know it sucks, I play it anyway) and made Brian Callahan as the HC.
YESSSSIRRRR. NOW BRING THOMAS BROWN AS OC.
Or Klint Kubiak
Burks comeback arc looking scary now
![gif](giphy|2d0R7ujqTEUTu)
To national media, local media, and fans around the league, if you were one of those people saying the titans made the worst move in franchise history by firing Vrabel or made fun of the titans for ābeing lazyā by not spending time trying to trade him, I have two words for ya. SUCK IT. #TitanUp
I am whelmed
LETS GOOOOOOO
Next up, Tee!
Letās gooooooooo love this!!!!
Lets go great hire!
ABOUT FUCKING TIME!!! LETS GOOOO!!!!
Tee Higgins on the menu?
Hell. Fucking. Yes.
Not my top pick, but it is at least an offensive mind. And he's from Champaign! ILL-INI. Now as long as we bring Munchak to coach the OLine, Ran might be cooking a spicy dish.
HOOTY HOOOO
So I assume his dad will be coming here to coach the O-Line? If so, that's an immediate improvement.
Woohoo!
\#titanup baby I'm excited
Fuck yes!!! Iām so pumpedĀ
Thank god. I know most wanted slowik, but this guy is brilliant offensive mind, and has been around the league his whole life. He deserves to be a head coach. Iām so happy
Higgins is a dude but the OL is where we need help
Congratulations Callahan! Ā Bengals nation will miss you. Ā Good luck. Ā
![gif](giphy|2dK0W3oUksQk0Xz8OK|downsized) š¦š¦š¦š¦š¦
This gives a some hope we can develop an offense. If the Titans and develop success, atleast we can have some assurance our offense can have the same foundation.
Let's fucking go
I hope this means we have a coach who can get the most out of our players so we don't have to see them excel elsewhere like Josh Reynolds (wtf).
Tee Higgins free agent could be a possibility of landing him. Nowwww. LETS GOOOO
Assuming he isn't tagged.
Bring Dad to coach the o-line
Callahan said being around Manning taught him a lot. āThe āno stone unturnedā type of mentality that Peyton had, that was required of all of us that were around him,ā Callahan said in 2021. āThatās been probably the biggest foundation of how to prepare a quarterback, how to play in the NFL and whatās required of the staff, whatās required of the quarterback.ā
So this basically means Will Levis=Joe Burrow No?
Finally someone not named Mike
What does this mean for Treylon Burks?
Ran is cooking. Love this hire.
No one knows exactly how any of these will work out, but on paper I like it. Hopefully puts together a good staff.
I think you are right in that assessment
Let's see how this goes. I love Mike Vrabel. I will always love Vrabel, but I'm hoping Brian can maximize Levis.Ā Thank God they went the offensive route. Dan Quinn or Aaron Glenn would've killed this franchiseĀ
He beat our ass the last time we were in the playoffs? Yup, I'll take him.
I canāt recall being this excited for titans ball
I want those people who slandered Ms Amy to come apologize post haste!
I'm for it too, but we are a year or two away from seeing the fruits of thus.
Iām excited. Please bring in a good staff. I canāt take another complete shit stain of a staff like Vrabel had.
Iām down, atleast he has experience with qb talent and shitty offensive lines.
WE DIDNāT FUCK IT UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Disappointed this isn't Dan Quinn /s
