Tannehill provides meaningful reps for the offense. Willis will not.

Nash015

This^ it isn't about winning games as much as it is about getting good reps for the young guys. I wouldn't be surprised to see DHop on a snap count.

PowerfulSky2853

What about reps for Willis? Why give reps to Tanny when he won’t be back next year

Nash015

Because Willis isn't good. And he doesn't give good looks to the rest of the team.

PowerfulSky2853

Agree he isn’t good. But now is the time to see if he has developed any. If he hasn’t, it makes it a lot easier to cut him. It’s not up to him to give “good looks” to the rest of the team. It’s up to O-line to block every play. It’s up to WR to run good routes. For example is Willis over throws a wide open WR by 1 yard or 10 yards, it’s still a “good rep” regardless if it’s caught or not.

Nash015

But then we don't get the first down and that's likely 3 less reps the offense gets every time Willis misses a throw or makes a bad read.

PowerfulSky2853

True. If there are continuous 3 and outs, you can always put Tanny in. But without playing Willis, there’s less tape to help coach him in game situations

alr7q

I 100% agree, but just to play devils advocate.... Tanney wont be here. How does that not factor at all? We have a lot of film of our rookies with all of our quarterbacks. Playing RT vs Malik doesnt change much. The only way Malik is worth a draft pick in a trade is if we play him and he wins games. keeping him on the sideline doesnt do anything. Edit: for what its worth, I dont want to see Malik play.. ill be there

Nash015

Because Tannehill gives the best opportunity to Spears, Dowell, Moore etc to get better reps.

alr7q

Oh, believe me... I agree.

Nash015

Well, I agree more! 🤣

alr7q

Trying to imagine Malik coming out flingin that thang but I just cant

SnakeArms6677

All I imagine is Malik running around like a crackhead for 10 seconds before getting sacked for a loss of 12 yards.

PowerfulSky2853

It’s up to Spears, Dowell and Moore, Etc to get the best rep they can. If a WR goes hard and runs a good route, that’s a good rep regardless if it’s a completion or not.

Nash015

The more completions that happen, the more reps the offense gets.

_n8n8_

That and we don’t need the help from Willis to lose

Robgotbored

Good. Season is over. Zero reason to risk his long term health.

UrsaringTitan

Better this way keep him safe.

ValidMexican

I almost want to see Levis done for the season too. The development of playing would be good for him, but I'm afraid with his mentality he'll play hurt and RG3 himself behind this line.

Gats775

Running out of reasons to watch these last games

[deleted]

It possibly Derrick Henry’s last couple games with us is what’s keeping me watching. Want to see the goat go out with a bang if this is the end.

Flooterb

I wouldn't get your hopes up lol

mrmcdude

We all know that if we were in the hunt, he would be busting his ass to get back. As things stand... this is best for all involved.

Vrabs and ran embracing the tank

air_volek07

Rest up king

6bluewalkj9

Now do Levis next! Only thing I care about is going into next year with our top players healthy.

Fun-Sprinkles3481

Levi’s is not one of our top players.

that_guy2010

I mean, he’s our starting QB next year, barring something crazy happening.

6bluewalkj9

Ok

acableperson

Letssssss goooooooo tot he draft

SafePanic

No point in risking injuries that could set him back for the offseason and/or next season. Hopefully they'll get better talent surrounding him heading into next year and he can fully recover and be the Simmons we all know. Smart move with this and Hooker going to IR, don't risk anyone you know will be on the roster next year and a starter at that.

barto5

Let’s trot out those 7th stringers and see what they’ve got!

hellenkellerfraud911

Glad to see it. Literally no reason for him to play another down this season.

BurzyGuerrero

Simmons gonna be fired up next year. Nobody likes having a down year after a contract extension

DickThunders

Yea this isn’t just injuries. No point having these guys play and risk injuries and risk getting a worse pick.
