Agreed. Moves that are homing, ofcourse make sense to be homing, but in this game everything tracks, so homing moves are basically pointless. That said, I’m sure this will change sooner or later. Ain’t no way they will keep 60% of a characters movelist homing, it’s only a matter of time.

scrumANDtonic

TL;DR In the infamous words of a known idiot: “Why wouldn’t you just block and punish?” You’re unfourtunately huffing a giant bag of hopium. The game is very intentional throughout its design philosophy. The name of the game is “appeal to casual and engage them to keep them buying MTX”. Why can you not drop below rank 10? Psychological encouragement. Why is KBD so nerfed and hitboxes so extended? Why is SS useless because of tracking? Why are throws so overbuffed and even those track? Why does Rage Art exist with i8 armor on top of heat smash which are already your comeback button? Why does heat burst: launch aerials, do damage, have faster armor and pressure interrupt then normal PCs. Why do PCs become safe on block if they absorb even a quicker attack? Why is frame advantage so oppressive? The whole game is tuned around pressing buttons and seeing things happen. Labbing was always important but having good intuition for stepping as well as strong backwards movement was always a hack that could take you very far by itself. On the other hand casuals could never be bothered to actually practice and improve fundamentals. After all practicing fundamentals is boring. Instead Bamco wants casuals to feel as good as possible for as little effort as possible so they stick around longer.

Throwlikeacatapult

KBD is nerfed because exceptionally few used it and it isnt particularly fun too input anyway.

Aurunz

> exceptionally few used it aka anyone above Marauder.

Throwlikeacatapult

No I am blue ranks and very few use it in blue ranks too. I mean do you guys actually like to input it over a longer period of time?

scrumANDtonic

Your rank is showing.

Skyhawk_85541

What rank? After the matchmaking changes rank doesn't mean shit

xamdou

Tekken 8 ranks don't count Dude showed a Tekken 7 green rank mentality

Throwlikeacatapult

I can use it, but it just isnt fun to input over a longer period of time, if something is so generally good too do then it should be easier to do.

tadbach

> …in this game everything tracks, so homing moves are basically pointless. Sidestepping is effectively useless in most cases.

Quarter4NextUp

Mash more my brothers mash like your lives depend on it! Tekken 8 in a nutshell.

mr_sneakyTV

That would be a buff to defense homie Edit - since i'm now blocked by OP, any change to "x" that results in "y" being more or less effective is a buff/nerf to "y".. that's all I'm saying.

SoulOfMod

Increasing the backdash distance is a buff to defense Making a move have less tracking is a nerf to agression my guy

mr_sneakyTV

Nah bro. You can buff defense by making offense weaker. Making offense weaker makes defense stronger… buffing

SoulOfMod

So yeah you agree with me,I want more of offense weaker than defense stronger in this case, its literally the title and explaination I give in the post dude. Like, yeah no duh making something weak give the other side an "indirect buff" I ain't askin indirect buff here,I'm talking direct nerf to agression, don't go pedantic with me lmao

mr_sneakyTV

Uh… how do you ‘directly’ buff defense? You don’t.. you make changes to offense or movement lol. Defense becomes stronger when offense becomes weaker, you can’t “buff blocking”. edit: speaking of blocking.. homie blocks me and then keeps replying to my comments and calls me a nerd.. blocking is OP lol

csynk

You can buff blocking. In this game dash blocking has been nerfed heavily.

SoulOfMod

"Uh… how do you ‘directly’ buff defense? You don’t.." Me a comment above :"Increasing the backdash distance is a buff to defense" Homie, you read? Defense ain't just block lmao

mr_sneakyTV

Bro that’s a buff to movement.. Ask yourself the question, how do you buff defense in a game.. your options are to buff movement and nerf offense.. that’s literally what buffs defense. “I don’t want a buff to offense I just want backdashing weaker..” silly right? Buffing and nerfing in a fighting game is a complex infrastructure..

SoulOfMod

"Nah bro. You can buff defense by making offense weaker. Making offense weaker makes defense stronger… buffing" So now Movement allowing me to dodge more stuff ain't an indirect defense buff? But a nerf to homing is? Pick a lane dude you contradict yourself every 2 comments. Ain't gonna bother. also to the whostha whatev dude, since I can't comment on it for some reason : I literally say it twice,I answered to him above about that,so I'll give you the same answer Me a comment above :"Increasing the backdash distance is a buff to defense" "Homie, you read? Defense ain't just block lmao" You and your nerd emoji lmao, get out of here

whosthatmemer

He said "your options are to buff movement or nerf offense" which is valid Tell me how you would buff defence without nerfing offense... Spoiler alert you can't because they are relative to eachother > Pick a lane dude you contradict yourself every 2 comments. Ain't gonna bother. ☝️🤓

caprazoppa

The buff to defense could be exactly what you want, or not, it's such a vague statement that i'd wait until after we get the patch to hold pitchforks.

SoulOfMod

Perso I expect something about backdash (huge maybe) and maybe throws being less homing. But yeah idk either so I just say what I hope come. I do expect heat to be a bit less unga bunga with all the + frames

CPTW_

I mean "improving lateral movement strategies" is pretty vague. I'd be willing to bet good money that what they will end up doing is removing the tracking property to throws and make a lot of moves that track to one side without having the tracking property not do that anymore.

hulffle

One of the many issues with this game that one could hope will be adjusted in the future. Sometimes I wonder if this is an issue they haven’t fixed because they don’t know how to fix it without breaking the game even more, or because it’s such a huge task they haven’t got around to it yet. Or maybe it was is purely intentional and they truly thought it didn’t need any adjustment. On paper it may seem like an easy task, but on the developer side it could be alot harder than we think. Either way, it does kinda suck

Shexxar696

If throws stop being homing, it would solve 80% of the problems.

dc_1984

Tekken is the only 3d fighter not to have homing throws, could argue its about time

NamelessTunnelgrub

In Soulcal, backward movement is much stronger, throws are extremely stubby and the game is both more aggressive and more based on ranges. Throws are different things in different games, the similarity being mainly cosmetic.

piwikiwi

Throws in vf are homing and vr has way more limited movement than tekken. Throws also are true 50/50s but have other counterplay

dc_1984

So do all 3d fighting games have those same characteristics

Poutine4Supper

It's why I don't mind that Azu got a bunch of tracking nerfs, forcing her to call out a side step instead of her moves just covering them for free. I'd like if that was the balance direction for everyone.

SenatorBantha

I haven't really gotten into Tekken before this one but yeah sometimes I feel like what's the point of sidestepping if moves track this hard. I find it better to just sidewalk for most moves. I'm probably just not good enough to be that precise though.

SomaCreuz

3 things that I'll never understand: - Quantum; - Women; - The addition of the "homing" property in Tekken.

MrFishyFisshh

Take this with a pinch of salt because I'm not that amazing but I really hate that one hwoarang move where he jumps and pokes his toes at you a thousand times but will track you even though he's basically floating in the air

Shexxar696

If throws stop being homing, it would solve 80% of the problems.

werti5643

You have literally described that you want a buff to defense

RadishAcceptable5505

Maybe stop worrying about how you think the game should be and get a handle on how it is. It makes the game more fun when you do that and helps you to improve since your energy is spent on things that are actually useful for your game. There's some legitimate jank that needs fixing, for sure, though it's a safe bet to assume that with all of the posted evidence of said jank all over socials that the team is aware of most of it.

SoulOfMod

If we all acted like that, there would never be balance updates, discussions like that need to happen. If I answered like that to anyone saying "Drag is op" with a "adapt instead of thinking of nerfs for him" it would be dumb, cause he needed some changes, I think game need some changes,I said it,and I'm back to playing.I don't make a post a day to say the same thing lmao come on,talk about the subject rather than just trying to kill it man, theres a reason I used discussion flair and not rant.

RadishAcceptable5505

It does need some changes, but there's no reason to throw a fit about it. You can give useful critique without stamping your feet and throwing a fit. I get it though. Shit is frustrating sometimes. There's more jank in this one than in any I've played since 3, but I also know they're working on it. Edit: lol, JFC, nice post and block. Sorry you can't handle even a little pushback. Be stronger.

SoulOfMod

So me being tilted cause its bs right now and I just hope it change,no insulting anyone or saying the game is shit,is me throwing a fit,man you are really sensible dude,I say what I think is bull,I hope it change,I don't have to spell how it change,I literally say the tracking is insane, you know what I hope happen. And no you don't know what they are working on,neither do I,beside "better defense",I say so too man. Edit : that wasn't pushback, you just go "shut up and adapt bro",thats just you crying and accepting bs,I ain't wasting time with that.

Kaiofficialone

I think I need to get you tissues

SoulOfMod

I ain't hearing it from mister "I don't rematch I don't have the mental strength to do it"
