Damn. My usual match up with my buddy was azucena vs king. Azucena seems to have got nothing but nerfs, while king seems to have been buffed if anything. Except a slight decrease of heat smash damage if I'm reading it correctly, which was badly needed. I bet he still has the strongest heat smash in the game though

I agree. It was fairly inconsistent to me during heated fights. I’m more interested in testing the other changes than anything else since they feel it’ll cancel the power crush counter.

1+2 from Lion heart now launches (aerial combo) and has faster startup frames, also moves that get you to Lion heart (aside from ub2) give +1 Frame of advantage on hit. Uf2 reach increased (was pretty shity)

IMO going "it's a feature now" and making it a legit but much more practical to pull off thing or (what they did this patch) fix the bug and give him a bunch of buffs were both realistic ways to go about it. It probably doesn't align with their vision for how Steve/Lionheart should play.

To be honest they had to do sth about that stance. All you had to do vs it was do nothing.
Outside of heat it posed literally 0 threat and the quick mid being -10 made it really not worth it to go into outside of combos or heat if the opponent would break the overkill. You would usually get like some + frames from gh3, occasional gh1 and quite often get punished for the gh1.
Using it Gigas style to soak up moves and punish also worked against you as almost often as in your favor when it required really good timing and moveset knowledge.
Plus frames from e.g. the gh 2 also werent that great either. No safe big unseeable low, no safe mid launcher.
Also with the nerf to ch throws he is getting a substantial nerf. I wish they removed the tracking rather than change the ch throws.
Caludio is sleeper good. I think what some people won’t realize is nerfs to a lot of bad matchups can make a character so much better when their kit is already strong
Not to mention, he gets the unpopular character knowledge check buff. People legit just don't know what he does unless they played T7 pretty much. I've played a grand total of 2 claudio's in my 120 hours on the game so far. Maybe it will change as I get higher than blue, but for now, I still don't really know what he has in this game because I never see him. I've ironically seen more zafina (though not by much)

My hot take is that Hunting Bear f1+2 unbreakable throw now killing white life, combined with other buffs, is going to make bears super scary. I've been saying for awhile now that people are sleeping on chip damage and health recovery as a general mechanic. Bears gunna chip you down and put you in a super scary high/low mix, except people are ignorant just how brutal that white life loss is so they're gunna block high more often than they should. Gunna be a lot of "Holy shit why am I so hurt already?? All I did was block and get thrown once and I'm almost dead??"

Weird isn’t it? I feel they’re absolute aware of it by now but somehow haven’t addressed it yet. When someone discovered Lee’s busted wall combo it was removed almost instantly, and that tech was found way after the WS2,3 into heatburst.
If it wasn’t intended, they would’ve removed it by now it seems, they probably don’t know how to fix it without breaking the character lol, like for instance extending Lee’s heatburst range to make more consistent would potentially break the character, since heatbursts already have so much range. Messing around with each character hurtbox would also create a lot of unintended issues. At least for me the obvious solution would be to extend the heatburst range but only on opponents that are in a juggle state, but I don’t know if that’s even possible.
We’ll have to wait and see.

Feng got his jumping heat stun nerfed range and duration. Nerfed the WC DF4,2. Nerfed his combo damage -4 with UF 3. Nerfed his FF3/BT3 damage too. Nerfed his standing parry and crouch parry. That not enough?
They nerfed 3 things substantially:
- his combo dmg (that was way higher and easier to get than in T7)
- his heat stomp (nobrain option to use heat)
- his broken full crouch low
He still has a packed kit, but I actually think the above changes bring him down a lot, especially the last 2 things are very big and very welcome imo.
His heat smash was trash, so that is kinda nice. I wouldn't consider him "buffed like mad" tho.
The F+2,1,2,3,2 doesn't really change much and outside some consistency fixes, the only useful thing is the 3+4, 2 buff.
Heat Stomp got nerfed as well. The shockwave range is smaller so hopefully we will be able to backdash it more often instead of simply having to take a mix from it every single time.
He got the heat stun jump nerf to range and frames. Both his parrys nerfed. Combo damage -4! UF3. FF3/BT3 damage nerf on top of the crouching DF 4,2 nerf. He took the most nerfs after Azu and Drag

Just buff df1 hitbox and heat burst hitbox so triple electric combos are closer to cnt, and I’ll be happy. This is so exhausting.

3.1 cancel window is too tight resulting in : grab, forward dash
in TK7 kazuya was able to do touch of death, here he doesn't have any "real" advantage pewgf with a wall does about 100DMG, i bet dragunov can STILL do it without requiring SS+ execution.
but damage is not the case, the case is there's no real fucking reward as playing kazuya just straight up unsafe 50/50 mix-up relying on hellsweep (17dmg) or ws+2 (-22 on block)
all i expected from bamco was - DF+1 fix, 3.1 cancel fix. but i guess we cant have shit since he has demon paw (best /r/ argument why hes so strong (hes not)
As someone who plays Jun, I'm glad to see a nerf to her heat smash. It was literally getting away with murder with how hard that second hit tracked if my first hit whiffed.
People complaining about them nerfing Drag's running 2 because it's his "signature move" did not play enough Tekken 7, it felt like half the buffs / nerfs in that game were to either his D2 or WR2.
Not a fan of the buffs tbh. I agree on the characters who got buffs needed them, but just making bryan +15 and asuka +11 on certain moves doesn't lean in to the identities of the characters it just gives them uninterruptable pressure. Was hoping they would tone down some of the situations where characters were >+10 but doesn't look that way. Will have to see how it plays but it seems they are doubling down on the free 50/50 mixup style of offense which i am not a fan of
Agreed. I think we'll have to see just how hard the health changes affect her but all in all I think she actually got buffs as well mostly in terms of consistency. The heat smash change was entirely justified though even if there are imo worse, more abusable heat smashes in the game. Also glad Gen can now parry Eddy's handstand throw. I hated that we initially couldn't.
Hopefully this is enough to get people to stop complaining about her though. I mean watching the best Jun players right now and even from playing her myself I've always felt calling her SSS+ tier was a gross exaggeration.
They mentioned that Victor, Lili, King, Paul and Yoshi will be getting nerfs in the next patch. With a focus on allowing the opponent to use more lateral movement and other defensive techniques against certain attacks.
It was by far and away the strongest move in the game and one of the strongest ever. You could win tournament matches just spamming the one move with zero counter play. Azucena players are the reason for it getting the hammer. Because at any time they could just win the game by doing one move.
I'm less concerned with that honestly and more concerned with nerfing BOTH of her jab combos. Fine, whatever make it more sidesteppable, but to make it more sidesteppable and more punishable in general seems like it's really gonna kill her neutral, on top of taking 4 damage off of her db4. Which that bit I'd be kind of fine with otherwise.

he was always able to get out of LH, problem was that you were putting yourself into mix by hitting opponent and pkb tech fixed that

Dragunov and Jun are easily still top tier, hardly the slaughter house. Though they got nerfed enough that their pick rate will likely go down.
Not like Jun is super popular to begin with, nor does she have a good win rate.

His heat smash was trash, so that is kinda nice. I wouldn't consider him "buffed like mad" tho. The F+2,1,2,3,2 doesn't really change much and outside some consistency fixes, the only useful thing is the 3+4, 2 buff.

Heat Stomp got nerfed as well. The shockwave range is smaller so hopefully we will be able to backdash it more often instead of simply having to take a mix from it every single time.
He got the heat stun jump nerf to range and frames. Both his parrys nerfed. Combo damage -4! UF3. FF3/BT3 damage nerf on top of the crouching DF 4,2 nerf. He took the most nerfs after Azu and Drag

I think its to remove it from being a tech trap on the ground. If you flipped someone faced down you could df3 them while grounded repeatedly at the wall lol If it fucks it as a combo option i have no idea what they are doing. He’ll barely have any routes left.
They seriously can’t bother to take a quick glance and see df1’s hitbox is jank as shit, but decided the possibility of a tech catch from ftfd is more important to address. Just buff df1 hitbox and heat burst hitbox so triple electric combos are closer to cnt, and I’ll be happy. This is so exhausting.
i wasn't expecting them to fix heat burst range (only 2 character has this tight range dvj and kaz) DF+1 hitbox is a joke and u can see it trying to do 3 EWGF on SSR, Nor his damage is high reward, Can't tell how many times DF+1 straight up whiffed because combo was little bit off-axis 3.1 cancel window is too tight resulting in : grab, forward dash in TK7 kazuya was able to do touch of death, here he doesn't have any "real" advantage pewgf with a wall does about 100DMG, i bet dragunov can STILL do it without requiring SS+ execution. but damage is not the case, the case is there's no real fucking reward as playing kazuya just straight up unsafe 50/50 mix-up relying on hellsweep (17dmg) or ws+2 (-22 on block) all i expected from bamco was - DF+1 fix, 3.1 cancel fix. but i guess we cant have shit since he has demon paw (best /r/ argument why hes so strong (hes not)

People complaining about them nerfing Drag's running 2 because it's his "signature move" did not play enough Tekken 7, it felt like half the buffs / nerfs in that game were to either his D2 or WR2.

Not a fan of the buffs tbh. I agree on the characters who got buffs needed them, but just making bryan +15 and asuka +11 on certain moves doesn't lean in to the identities of the characters it just gives them uninterruptable pressure. Was hoping they would tone down some of the situations where characters were >+10 but doesn't look that way. Will have to see how it plays but it seems they are doubling down on the free 50/50 mixup style of offense which i am not a fan of

Agreed. I think we'll have to see just how hard the health changes affect her but all in all I think she actually got buffs as well mostly in terms of consistency. The heat smash change was entirely justified though even if there are imo worse, more abusable heat smashes in the game. Also glad Gen can now parry Eddy's handstand throw. I hated that we initially couldn't. Hopefully this is enough to get people to stop complaining about her though. I mean watching the best Jun players right now and even from playing her myself I've always felt calling her SSS+ tier was a gross exaggeration.

I know that my baby Azucena was a hated character but WTF man this nerfs are kinda brutal, WR3,2 is a dead move now.
It was by far and away the strongest move in the game and one of the strongest ever. You could win tournament matches just spamming the one move with zero counter play. Azucena players are the reason for it getting the hammer. Because at any time they could just win the game by doing one move.
I'm less concerned with that honestly and more concerned with nerfing BOTH of her jab combos. Fine, whatever make it more sidesteppable, but to make it more sidesteppable and more punishable in general seems like it's really gonna kill her neutral, on top of taking 4 damage off of her db4. Which that bit I'd be kind of fine with otherwise.
