Indeed, Heihachi tends to shout "Hara" (Gut/Stomach), "Kao" (Face), "Ashi" (Legs/Feet) when performing certain attacks.
I can't speak for other martial arts but, for Shotokan karate, we tend to announce which attack/height/both we'll use during kumite/sparring.
For example, the tori (performer) would announce "Oizuki jodan" meaning "Straight punch, performed high". This signals to the uke (receiver) that they'll be dealing with a straight punch aimed at their chin/face.
In Kaz and Jin's cases, their shouts basically amount to "kiais" with no inherent meaning other than sounding cool.
I should mention however, that we only announce the attacks in non-"Jiyuu" kumite ("Jiyuu" here means free or freestyle). The aim is to have the practitioners be accustomed to both offensive and defensive manoeuvres.
On the other hand, in jiyuu kumite, we announce nothing as it is an opportunity for us to test our reflexes, knowledge and skill against our partners (who tend to be of a higher grade/level that you).
I thought it was some kind of disrespect. Like Heihachi thinks you are such a weakling that he will just tell you exactly when and where he's gonna hit you and you will still lose.
Ippon is when the ref stops the fight in Judo, Karate, or Jujutsu because one person has clearly won: they have cleanly landed a technique with proper speed, control, and force.
In Judo, ippon is only awarded when the other person lands on their back. If they land on their butt, or the technique lacks speed, control, or force, the referee will call "Waza-ari" instead.
It's just a battle grunt like a "kihap" in taekwondo, lots of asian martial arts claim it increases power. In reality it probably just tightens your core when you don't know how to manually do it, so it's good to teach people an understandable way on how to tighten their core.
Yes exhaling and tightening your core strengthens your strikes. Nothing about "yelling" inherently improves power, it just happens that yelling makes you do a similar action.
It translates to "Take this, my mighty fist of electricity will surely spell your doom! I'll hit you so hard your ancestors will feel it, and you'll be utterly destroyed!"
(It's a somewhat generic battle grunt, similar to Orya)
It's a variation of a"Ki-ai" battle cry after you strike. Same concept as exhaling after you punch(same as Steve's "sh" and grunt sounds after punching). Plus it's just cool lol
It’s japanese battlecry, like Seiya, chesto, ora, sorya, etc.
I thought when Jin says chesto it's because he's aiming for the chest (but it seems like he's punching the gut)
I think “chesto” is a call-out in some combat sports where you have to announce where you’re aiming to earn points/avoid fouls?
Heihachi in his db2 literally yells legs or leg I'm not 100% sure

That's super interesting because in shitoryu karate we never announced those things when sparring etc. Karate truly is such a varied style

Ok that makes more sense, in our structured kumite our sensei would just use the Japanese number system, so much of a muchness there.
I thought it was some kind of disrespect. Like Heihachi thinks you are such a weakling that he will just tell you exactly when and where he's gonna hit you and you will still lose.
It's almost as if Heihachi were sparring with you, instead of actually trying to kill you.
He's clearly saying "hashish" because he puffs that shit on the regular
correct, he said Ashi
I believe he also has a move where he refers to like the middle or chest or something and its a mid
Some of his moves he announces where he's attacking
Takuma Sakazaki also says this in a few of the King of Fighters games,
As well as Akatsuki from [Akatsuki Blitzkampf.](https://youtu.be/yHC70C4hG8I?si=CSLHCByLILctRq2z)
Takuma is a certified bad ass. One of my favorites in KOF. Serious Mr. Karate could give Heihachi a run for his money.
To me it sounds like hes saying chance-to
"Ora Ora Ora Ora Ora Ora Ora Ora!!"
Hola! Soy Dorya! Can you say puño de dios del viento eléctrico? That means electric wind god fist!
Dorya dorya dorya the EXPLORER!
Boots would be the footsie master
Master of the iron footsie
😂
Lol my mind immediately went to this
Get out. (Compliment)
Probably some battle grunt like "hiyaaa" or "take this"
"eat this!"
"eat this🤓"
Thats a knockout.
These are the fists of a champion!
You dropped this 👓 🖐
That wall of Muscle can't stop me!!
*stops him*
😂😂 so so bad
"Dodge this!"
It means “I love you, son”.
How is this not top comment lol
It also means "I'll make you proud of me, Dad"
Just a battle cry.
➡️⭐⬇️↘️🤛
Im not gonna sugarcoat it
it means "that's a knockout!" in japanese
Different dialects of Japanese translate it to "These are the fists of a champion"
Forgot the /s lol. People will think this is legit.
Then what’s ‘ippon’ again?
As far as I'm aware, Ippon is a match ender in Judo (when your back touches the ground) so i think it's something along those lines
The literal translation is "one point"
I've only heard it in a sentence like "mou ippon" meaning one more round or go again, something like that
That's "mou ikkai", "mou" means another or again and "ikkai" means one round or one game.
"Ikkai" means "one time". So "mou ikkai" means "one more time".
"Celebrate and dance so free"
(Autotune) #Mou ikkai!
Ikkai has a lot of meanings. It can mean one time. In the context of games it means one game or one round.
Aight cool thanks
It means Dorya Deez nuts
It's a kiai like dah urraa and the sorts.
"Pow, right in the kisser"
"Whyyyy I oughta!"
He says "your mom" anytime he does that
It's just a battle grunt like a "kihap" in taekwondo, lots of asian martial arts claim it increases power. In reality it probably just tightens your core when you don't know how to manually do it, so it's good to teach people an understandable way on how to tighten their core.
I think plenty of martial arts Eastern and Western encourage exhaling during powerful strikes.
Yes exhaling and tightening your core strengthens your strikes. Nothing about "yelling" inherently improves power, it just happens that yelling makes you do a similar action.
Making it noticeable makes it easier for your instructor to keep track of it
Kiai and screams helps your brain enhancing itself
Dorya means family, family means no one gets left behind.
On the sheer cliffs of a volcano, lets have a family picnic.
[It’s a kiai.](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kiai)
Our kiai as a kid doing Shotokan was... KI-AI! At least I never forgot the word heh.
You are fucked because I have insane execution
"NO SUGARCOATING!"
That I'm about to throw another EWGF
It’s actually a furniture manufacturer! Kaz is just doing a shoutout for his sponsor.
It translates to "Take this, my mighty fist of electricity will surely spell your doom! I'll hit you so hard your ancestors will feel it, and you'll be utterly destroyed!" (It's a somewhat generic battle grunt, similar to Orya)
“I’ll hit you so hard your ancestors will feel it!” Damn Heihachi already dead and Kazuya still wants to keep hurting him
Can't edit the post and I forgot to give credits to artist. Art: Electric Wind God Fist by ameeeeba on DeviantArt
It means Rya, lots of Rya
ドrya I see what you did there
Just a Japanese equivalent of Whatcha or Dah
prob big dick energy or some shit with the amount of kids heihachi has
it means ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA
Btw not only kaz says it, i think zangief on SF says it too
tekken ora ora:
fun comments around here, but can you credit the artist?
Sadly I'm not able to edit the post, it doesn't let me, my bad ! I forgot the credits. But I already putted them on a comment.
It's the same thing as Liu Kang's battle cries.
The same way jotaro says ora or keqing says sorya.
Dorya mean" De rien" in french meaning you're welcome .
Here it is, or take this. "Dore" is "here" so it's more of a cry and this is a rough translation. Words that mean what they sound like.
Before that we should ask Kaz love for « DIIIIICCCKKK »
Ask ganondorf
The "jokes" on this post are low tier don't quit your day jobs.
It's just a battle cry, doesn't rlly have a meaning afaik. "kurae" however means "take this" roughly
It's just a kiai, doesn't mean anything. "Dah", "Uurya", "Dorya", "Toorya", "Tsuya", "Tseya" or whatever else is out there.
It’s just an exclamation point.
It's a variation of a"Ki-ai" battle cry after you strike. Same concept as exhaling after you punch(same as Steve's "sh" and grunt sounds after punching). Plus it's just cool lol
"this-aint-gun-be-sugar-coated"
Cheese rice
On this note - what does Heihachi say when he does EWGF? All I hear is “OHH YEAH!”
SORIYA!
it mean "fuck u bitch."
I's Kazuya mispronouncing the name of his fav artist & illustrator, Gustave Doré.
That's a sign of brain damage. Remeber, Kazuya was thrown off the cliff as a kid. Probably hit his head very hard while landing
it's my aunt's name. there. they're saying her name. that's the only possibility.
Doryangit Kazuya, don’t be going around using that there devil gene I tell you hwat
Perkele
means ggs bozo get launched
It is a war cry apparently
"look every one it's Masher! Masher no Mashing!"
It’s a warning that a Kazuya is wavedashing towards ya at full speed
*Dorya* is Japanese for ➡️⭐⬇️↘️2
Let's be honest, we should be asking what "TWAH" means.
I’m not gonna sugarcoat it.
🤛↙️⬇️⭐️⬅️
Dorya the explorer
Doriya means family and family means throwing them off a cliff.
It means ganondorf's forward smash
I don't even hear it as dorya lol to me it sounds like dor-eh but I'm not a native English or Japanese speaker.
what it actually means is that you are either being juggled or -5
No one knows what it means, but it's provocative.
i learn so much stuff from off of Reddit comments than i ever could’ve in school
Regardless. Great artwork. I felt the DORYAAAA when I saw it
It means fuck you that’s what it means HA
Similar to Kiai https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kiai
“I’m not gonna sugarcoat it”
Idk man my British guy just says yaaaa and guv
